   a delighted smile lights up colin’s face as he looks at all of barbara’s little gadgets.  he’s trying to make sense of what it all does, but mostly it’s just fascinating.  his own technical expertise is a lot more...rudimentary.  how to make an engine fire, what makes the inside of a car tic.  this is just a million light years out of his league, but it’s fascinating all the same.  “ so what’s this one do ?? ” he asks curiously, pointing to something with a gently pulsing green light.  if it’s the wifi, he’s gonna be embarrassed.

   silence -- there’s a lot of heavy silences lately.  wally’s never done well with that; he gets antsy and agitated a minute in, but it’s almost hard to find words that are worth the air it takes.  he can bluster about this shit show until he’s blue in the face, but what does it change.  “ i’m -- guessing you and dick are of the same mind on this, right ?? ” wally asks.  he knows, of course, that dick and barbara almost always are, even if he doesn’t know babs so well.  if dick can already look days, weeks, months ahead and see disaster, then he’s sure everyone else in gotham is moving in that same direction.  “ nerve-wracking, isn’t it ?? ” understatement of his life.

The seasons had transitioned rapidly, with each month seemingly gaining its own theme of decorations. Diana surveyed them critically, her eyes lingering on a particularly bright set of lights. “Though festivities here seem inescapable, they are definitely less chaotic than those at home. Haloea starts on the winter solstice and continues for a whole week of uninterrupted drinking and revelry.” Diana smiled with an echo of fondness as she sipped at her mulled wine, inclining her head towards Barbara. “For all the pomp and emphasis on shopping, the core idea is admirable- family and good will. A reminder that we must strive towards peace is never unwelcome. I’ll admit it’s better than a week of drunkenness and a sore head at the end of it.”

( OC, ELLIOT KNIGHT ) ; supposedly ISAAK STAFFORD made it through the convergence. HE is 22 and i hear they sometimes go by UMBRA. it seems they tend to be COMPASSIONATE, but IMPETUOUS. rumor has it they used to run with N/A, but do they have what it takes to keep up? mr. oz better keep an eye on this one going forward. when dinah gets word the joker is loose, her first thought isn’t the people of gotham. of course, she is worried about them. but there’s one person who sends her into overdrive immediately.  barbara. she knows, rationally, his escape isn’t about going after babs again, but who says fears were ever rational? her phone is to her ear before she’s even halfway dressed.

“pick up, pick up,” she mutters under her breath as she pulls one of her tights up. as soon as it stops ringing, she lets out a breath. “babs? babs, fuck, i’m coming out now to gotham now.” technically, she’s a gotham vigilante by association anyway. “are you okay? are you safe?” there’s a slight edge of panic in her voice that she isn’t proud of.

THE BUG HUMS ALMOST SOUNDLESSLY as he flies it out from the hidden garage, heading back towards metropolis. michael had left only moments before, rani’s hand in his and sure, it hadn’t been the first time that ted had stepped out in the ol’ blue long johns since coming back ( those had been small time though- little busts here and there to keep his blood pumping ) but this was the first time that the sword of damocles hung right over his head as he pulled them on and the first time in a long time that he worried about not coming back-- ( and here he thought he was over that ). a gloved finger punches a button connected to the bugs comm system, needing to put his mind anywhere but how rani had looked after he hugged her ( how she had looked back just before disappearing with booster. ) “tell me something good, oracle,” because he’s sure it’s a secure channel but at the same time, that metaphorical sword swings lower and he won’t chance it ( not with barbara ), “and tell me where you need me. i managed to squeeze my ass back in the spandex and i’m not going to waste how good it looks by not kicking some assassin tail.”
