So, I was playing the demo again and I've got both a question and (hopefully this is ok) some over-analyzing/guessing about the night and shadows god parent (since that's the path I favor for my mc).
I'm not quite sure if I like or dislike him, though I loved the scene where we meet him! I am absolutely curious about him.
Unlike music mom, shadow dad does not strike me as a particularly soft or gentle figure. Granted, MC is attacked by a beast when he shows up, and then accidentally terrifies their friend, so I think he can be forgiven for focusing on that over proper greetings. I wonder if he might be a somewhat more protective parent than some of the other options? I think the shadows path is the only one where it's mentioned that baby MC is being protected (though that may just be MC's own powers and Shadow Daddy has nothing to do with it).
(Not as related to shadow dad, but I really like the detail of MC's vision changing to look like an old black and white show when they're in shadows)
And finally for the question, is he a god of general darkness and shadows, or specifically just shadows?

I love hearing people’s thoughts and analysis of scenes and characters. It’s a good way for me to gauge if I’ve written a character as intended or if what I’m trying to get across has missed the mark. Particularly when it’s a characters first scene and it’s the first impression readers will have of them. So please keep sending them in if you feel comfortable enough to do so!
I also really love that people are seeing the differences between the parents too. I really wanted each to have their own personality because whichever one you choose, the others still exist in the world. I wanted them each to feel unique to one another.
Onto your analysis and question! Yes, shadow dad is protective of their child however the shadows at the start were reacting to MCs emotions and less so him directly controlling them.
I think I would say he’s the most protective and then the warrior mum is the least.
As for his domain, I had been debating sharing them all but I think I’ll leave it for the next update. It’s not that much of a spoiler to say your god parent will make another appearance and if things go to plan you should find out who they are 😊
But yep, it’s not just shadows that fall under him.
(I’m so glad you like the black and white vision, it made sense to me that MC would still be able to see through divine darkness but I wanted there still to e something different to show it wasn’t natural darkness)
