Time has stopped for Zero that it isn't something he blinks at anymore. It's a fog, one he vaguely remembers with a sense of surreality that he's a creature of the night now. At least, it seems like it is for the most part. In his travels, he's grown aware that there are other vampires out there—creatures with similar powers like his own, but different—and that he's stronger than most of them.
The Red Mage stated that they are traveling to another world, one where it's flooded with light and dark powers alike. Just shortly before their arrival, she explains who are people he needed to be aware of and who might come after him. Thankfully, the world they arrive in is beautiful, modern, and easily adaptable as he lets the Red Mage's abilities flood him with information as a person under her care.
At first, he senses the shift in the world, the universe, upon their arrival.
❛ It looks like I will have to leave you, ❜ the Red Mage says, her voice solemn as she looks around them. It's a modern city, and her brilliant ruby hues move to observe their surroundings. ❛ There's a power coming in this direction, and I am not of the mind to talk and try to explain myself. ❜
Zero quirks a brow but places his hands into the pockets of his long jacket.
❛ You will have to investigate on my behalf—look for anomalies like the others we have searched for thus far, ❜ she says, waving a hand to summon what seems to be a smartphone but made of all glass, thin and slender with a subtle blue hue that resembles the red mage's eyes when she cast spells. It drops to her hand and then holds it out for him to take it.
❛ And why can't you be here? ❜ Zero asks, taking the rectangular object and stowing it into his pocket.
❛ I upset the balance of power here. ❜ The Red Mage looks around again, her casual wear unfitting for her manner of speech. ❛ Do not fret—simply call me on there and I shall respond quickly enough. ❜ She bows her head and then in the next moment, she's gone, and he's standing in an alleyway in the middle of a sprawling city.
When he steps out of the alleyway, he immediately begins walking in the direction of what he could smell to be coffee. A coffee shop is good as any to find out more information, other than what is already provided for him.
Zero Kiryuu, a vampire hunter, looks very out of place in this city, sprawling with light and a sense of happiness he hadn't seen in quite some time. But, he doesn't miss the way people regard him with subtle stares, remarks that tells him that it resembles someone once. A queen? He thinks.
He orders some coffee and settles himself down on the balcony of the coffee shop, overlooking pedestrians as they walk by the quaint shop. Pulling out the phone, he begins to pour over the information in this world and learns them so that he would have a better understanding. His search is limited, he's aware since the person of interest upon their entering this place isn't here. Instead, he researches and plays with the device given to him before he sets off to explore.
It's about several days of him living the city when he encounters an elderly woman needing aid. In a stroke of luck of him stopping a bunch of small-time punks trying to cause trouble, he quickly put them out in time for the police to arrive. And in turn, the elderly woman offers him an apartment space in the building when she discovers that he doesn't have a home. Not wanting to stay for free, he offers to work her flower shop until he can find a substantial place to provide for income. ( He's honestly thankful that his currency works here, but idleness doesn't suit him. )
So it's a week later when the power the red mage sensed arrives, something that he's able to detect. But, he doesn't look up when they step inside the little flower shop with the ringing of the bell over the door, wearing a black apron over a simplistic white linen shirt, black jeans, and a pair of black boots. His gaze briefly flits up before returning to his work.
❛ Can I help you? ❜ he both greets and asks without looking up, dexterous fingers elegantly working the bouquet.
