Okay but something that actually really bothers me in Three Houses is how much sicker Hubert looks in the timeskip. He’s paler; his face is thinner, eyes more sunken; and though his expression is notably softer/more docile, it screams “I haven’t slept in five years.” (And, yes, granted, his face could have just slimmed down as he’s matured through his early/mid-twenties, but usually by then most people don’t change that much unless they’ve lost weight, which I could very easily see happening to him too)
He’s worked himself into the ground to make Edelgard’s dreams a reality, and it shows. He’s loyal to a fault, fearlessly devoted to her cause, and willing to self-sacrifice if that’s what victory takes. And he’s accepted that. And it’s very sweet and I just want to hold him and tell him to get some rest because he deserves it. Thank you for coming to my husband ramblings
