Woke up this morning and decided to make my own strawberry preserves! And I love my sunflowers 🌻🍓
Another preserving day! Here we have my dried lavender I finally took down (stored in an old spaghetti sauce jar. Soak in vinegar water if the smell doesn't come out) and crabapple jelly
Recipe:
Remove stems from crabapples and halve or quarter. Do not peel or core. I removed seeds with a knife though. I used 2.5 quarts of crabapples with 5 cups water to get 4 cups juice. Strain
1 cup sugar per 1 cup juice
Turn on to high heat and stir constantly until it hits gel point (220 degrees fahrenheit) turn off heat, skim off foam and place into hot half pint canning jars. Process in a water bath for 10 minutes
Long before the internet, and certainly long before there were ecourses, I enrolled in an Herbalist course the old fashioned way. Carefully
