New profile pic. I rescued this Kennie from the curb last summer. She had a mouse nest inside her. I think something critical got corroded because I still haven't been able to get her fully functional. I take her out and poke around once in awhile and then push her back to the back of my desk. Sigh.
nobody tells you your fridge gives you warning signs before it dies
okay so your fridge is basically dropping hints for WEEKS before it actually gives up on you, and most people just ignore them until they're standing in a kitchen full of spoiled food wondering what happened. so here's your PSA.
1. it won't shut up (literally) if your fridge is just... running. constantly. never clicking off. that's not normal. that's the compressor working overtime because it's tired. (also check your door seals first, a loose one can make a perfectly healthy fridge act like this too)
2. it's making noises it didn't used to make buzzing, clicking, humming from the back like it's plotting something. this is your fridge's version of a warning growl. sometimes it's actually just a dying fan motor though, which is a much cheaper fix, so don't panic-buy a compressor yet.
3. it's warm when it shouldn't be food going bad faster than it should? fridge feels warm instead of cold? yeah. not a vibe.
4. your electric bill went up and you don't know why a dying compressor works harder to do the same job, and that costs you. quietly. every single month.
5. your breaker keeps tripping if it's tripping over and over and it's not anything else on that circuit, your fridge might be the actual problem child in your house.
none of these mean "buy a whole new fridge" immediately btw. most of the time it's cheaper to just replace the part than the whole unit. we're talking a $100-500 part vs $1,000+ for a new fridge. genuinely wild how many people don't know that.
if you're the type who likes fixing things yourself instead of paying someone $150 just to show up, Appliance Parts Store is where I'd look, they sell tested compressors by exact part number so you're not gambling on some random ebay listing. and if you're not 100% sure what's actually wrong, you can just ask them before you buy anything.
anyway if you're currently side eyeing your fridge after reading this, you're welcome
Is your lawn mower sputtering, surging, or refusing to start? 🛠️
Don't run to the repair shop just yet! Most of the time, old fuel leaves a sticky varnish that completely clogs up the tiny passages inside your engine. You can easily fix this yourself right in your driveway.
I just put together a complete, step-by-step guide showing you exactly how to locate the air filter housing, clean out the main jet bowl, and safely blast away the gunk with carburetor cleaner spray to get your machine running like new again.

Open the microwave door... click... darkness. 🛑
If your microwave keeps tripping the circuit breaker the exact second you pull the handle, you aren't crazy! It feels strange because the machine isn't even "running" yet, but pulling that latch moves live electrical parts inside.
When those internal safety door switches wear out or get sticky from kitchen grease, they miss their timing and trigger a direct short circuit on purpose to protect you.
Don't just keep resetting the breaker—forcing a shorted appliance back on is a major fire risk and can fry your microwave's control board completely.
Unplug it, listen for the door switches to click properly, and stay safe! 🛠️⚡
When my microwave keeps tripping the circuit breaker, a bad door switch is often the main cause. Click here to learn how to fix it fast.

Stuck Tray? Let's Fix Your Microwave!
Ever pull a plate out of the microwave only to find one side is lava-hot while the other is freezing cold? 🛑 That annoying moment usually means your microwave plate is not turning.
Before you assume the motor is completely dead and go shopping for a replacement, the problem might actually be a quick, zero-dollar fix. Here is what usually goes wrong:
Dirty Roller Ring: A single greasy crumb can jam the tiny wheels. A quick scrub with white vinegar and baking soda cuts the grime naturally.
Cracked Coupler: The small plastic piece under the glass tray can split over time and lose its grip.
Misaligned Grooves: The tray might have just jumped off its track when a heavy dish bumped it.
Don't suffer through unevenly cooked leftovers! Check out the full step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix it yourself safely in minutes. 🛠️👇
Microwave plate not turning? Fix it fast with my easy tips. Find the cause, clean the track, or swap the small motor to get it spinning.
