Progress photo. Today I am working on the card for the Empress. I am loving this sim. She looks so radiant and beautiful, embodying everything the empress represents.

so i stopped doing the #diytarotchallenge like three or four cards in, but for valentine’s day i thought mayb it would be a neat thing to come back to! i had pretty limited collage resources this time around, basically just a few old comics. a valiant title from the early 90s called secret weapons, an issue of bendis’ daredevil, and an issue of wolverine x doop. still, i think it turned out kinda okay, and i put a little collage-y poem thing on the back that worked out better than i was expecting.
These two have been sitting on my desktop for a long time being very close to being done. I’ve been working on quite a few black and white commissions lately (and other series of black and white pieces c;) and so I wanted to do something with color and these were a good quick fix and I got to feel like i finished something o-o. Anyway. As usual I am still toying with them but I like where they are for the time being. I’ve always found that both of these cards always mean different things than I thought they did, so I wanted to try to design them in a way that made sense to me (in the context of all the other cards so far, of course).
Thirteen down, nine to go!

And (at long last) here we have The Wheel of Fortune! This is getting it’s own post because it was so fricking difficult. (And tbh it’s missing a lot of details but I am trying not to overthink it.) Anyway. I don’t know why, exactly, but this idea of the Wheel of Fortune as a carousel kind of popped into my head a long time ago and I liked the more modern symbolism! I also tried to include a few more classical symbols (the ouroboros and the plant going through different seasons and stuff). The pattern in the back is theoretically an optical illusion that I am not 100% sure if I am keeping or not. Personally I really like it (I made it myself based on some very similar designs). But I was looking for a pattern to match the other guys, and this one (in theory) constantly appears to be moving. Which felt appropriate. Uh. As usual there will probably still be some final touches to come, but this has been sitting around on my desktop for long enough that I am ready to move on to the next card. (No more carousels or tree branches for a while plz tho. I miss humans.)
Update: I added in a version without the background pattern. Let me know if you have opinions. I know the top image is pretty busy.
Update 2: Got rid of the image with the background. There are still versions floating around with it, but I wanted one without!

Finished a few more of the shrinky dink tarot things that I started last year… Lovers, Devil, Sun & Moon :)
I know it’s been a while, but new Tarot Cards! o: This is still the… Tarot Challenge thing that I no longer remember the name of DIY Tarot Challenge! Still playing around with borders and how to do the titles (so don’t expect these to look 100% the same in the future) but the key art is done…ish (I haven’t settled on The Hermit yet. There is a background… but I like it without the background so idk). Anyway. I hope you enjoy! I know these aren’t really traditional with the symbols and posing I’ve gone with, but I’ve been trying to do these more intuitively and create something a little unique. Next is the wheel o-o; which I’m slightly concerned about, but hopefully it won’t take like five months to do. Day 21 and final of the DIY Tarot Challenge.
Yes, yes, I know, the image is supposed to be from a majors-only deck. All the others were. But I really love this card, in particular, for how it conveys my feelings about the World. Which can sometimes be a difficult card for me to draw, much less interpret.
But here’s my take on it. The Fool reflects--wrung by the Wheel, tempered by Strength, and gazing at that faraway Star--on all they have seen.
Sometimes paradise really is as simple as wanting what you have.
Here is the digital version of the [second card] that I made for my Borderlands 2 Sigil Oracle deck. Originally for @princess-of-pentacles‘s DIY Tarot Deck Challenge. I didn’t complete the challenge in time - I got distracted with life - but I do plan on continuing the creation of this deck at my own pace. :3
