okay but now I want fic where Derek is so bad at being intentionally evil that Jenny kind of throws up her hands like WOW FINE OKAY LET'S LIVE A BORING MEDIOCRE EXISTENCE and Derek is happy as a clam living in Boise tending a little garden and running 30 miles daily while Jenny teaches English at the local high school and sometimes she might spend the solstices away with a local coven for a little ritual sacrifice but mostly Tuesdays are pizza nights and Derek painstakingly types out emails to Scott and Isaac and Stiles twice a month and they get a little cat called Bast which Derek side-eyes at first but ends up loving best and the sex is still really really great A+++++ and maybe Jenny brings up the idea of bloodplay a few months down the line but Derek is surprisingly amenable and afterwards she licks him entirely clean because it's not like a Darach is going to get Hep B okay and then they cuddle with Bast and drink peach-apple juice Derek buys from the local farmers market and watch all the reruns of the Ellen Show Derek will never admit to taping and mediocrity kind of suits them both well

Sad part is, there was so much potential from a revenge story line like they gave her and they fumbled it at the 1 yard line. *smh* Honestly, if they gave this storyline 24 eps, instead of 12, it could have really been awesome/deep.

honestly i am baffled by the pacing of things. it really is giving the vibe so far that season 3 is really 2 seasons rather than just parts a and b.

because you are so right, the revenge story line is so close to working, it has infinitely more weight behind it than Matt's 'they drowned me!' bullshit.  DJ Blake has real grounds to want vengeance for what was done to her and the pack.

but the EXECUTION of it...if we had spent more time with Kali, or with Jen outside of Derek and seen the feelings of  remorse, or of loss and betrayal respectively, then it would mean so much more.

but instead it's just thrown down in a lump as things reach a crescendo and it's all a cacophony of exposition and grand revelations and death with people in peril and none of it feels earned.

i mean yes it is still better than Matt, but that bar is buried at the earth's core.
