Pleasantview with more roads and room for beach lots

Crappy preview pictures are crappy. I made this for personal use, but I thought, that someone find it useful.

This is the pleasantview terrain. I expanded the road layout and smoothed the sorrounding hills. I removed the bridge, so you can add a decorative one instead. There is room for some bigger lots and you can place beach lots.

To use this terrain in pleasantview, you'll have to use hoodreplace.

Install-Instructions: This is a neighborhood terrain, therefore the file with “.sc4”-ending and the corresponding pictures have to go into your terrain Folder. (DEFAULT-LOCATION: “Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\SC4Terrains”)

The important thing is, that you can have only one version in your SC4-terrain folder at the time. Otherwise your game crashes, when creating a new (sub)hood.

You will have to delete the original Pleasantview terrain from the documents folder.

If you ever want to have the original back, you can either

delete the whole SC4Terrains folder and let the game recreate it, the next time you start your game

or go to "Your Basegame Installation Path"\TSData\Res\UserData\SC4Terrains and copy it from there.

Brynnlake-SC4 Terrain

Apart from dissecting files and try to get behind modding (which is not going great) I try to sculpt a new neighborhood terrain. In this process I made some terrains, which are not bad, but don’t tickle me as much as Twinhills once did. One of them is Brynnlake.

It has a large lake in the middle, which flows into a river to the edge of the map. I imagine it to be in a colder hemisphere with long winters and the inhabitants mostly relying on fish, gathered goods and simple crops like cale and beets. Actually while making this hood I listened to “The mists of Avalon”, so I was clearly inspired by a “Avalon-esque” environment.

I have two versions of this terrain:

Complete Roads This version has connected roads without any gaps.

Cut Off Roads This version has a few gaps inbetween to be used with decorative roads. (I also used it to have the waterfall/river in the first picture flow underneath a bridge.)

Humber River

A few days ago Child_of_Air aka @princesspiratecat​ requested a SC4-map of the Humber River at PBK. And I was happy to make the terrain for her.

There is some room for beach lots. As you can see in this post.

The terrain covers a large area, so you will need a camera mod of your choice to extend the neighborhood camera. (e.g. this one)

Installation SC4-terrains do not go into your downloads folder. Please extract the archive to: My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\SC4Terrains

Twinhills’ map

As you might know: Twinhills shared a common doom: Hood corruption.

Right now, I can’t bring myself to rebuild the neighborhood, though I have saved as much data as possible. (Sims, buildings etc.) While doing so, I also loaded the SC4-terrain (because I have some diffrent versions and wanted to make sure I have the right one in my folder) Though I can’t see myself to build in that area any time soon, I thought others might find this terrain useful.

Please note: I edited Twinhills with the "modifyNeighborhoodTerrain"-cheat, so there might be spots, where the terrain doesn’t look 100% like the Twinhills in my pictures. The version of Twinhills I used for me personally has slightly diffrent roads as well. This is because I created Twinhills with invisible roads in mind, so I can use decorative ones instead. This requires a few tricks (like using Lotadjuster a lot) and I do realize, this is not for everybody. That’s why I’m sharing this version. There are no gaps inbetween the roads, so you can just place down your lots and play.

There is only one spot of special note: The Isle of Oghmor

As you can see: The road is cut off at the edges, so you can add mini-lots at the end of the road. (Thanks @criquette-was-here​ for this information. It’s very useful!)

Canal Town

As I mentioned before, I was tinkering with SC4 again and pondering over the idea to have a downtown. I made this terrain, but decided to not use it in the future. But maybe someone else will find it useful? Inside the rar-fils, there are preview pictures included. Extract them to My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\SC4Terrains. I haven’t tested it myself, but you will probably need a camera-mod. The roads are chopped off on some edges, because I intended them to be used with criquette’s decorative roads (7.2.) and the embankment set. You might also want to get MaryLou’s Mini-lots. For now there’s only a mediafire link. An additional link via SFS will follow, when the site is up and runnning again. :)
