I noticed a smile among the sea of people. She was there, in my view. I finally ran across her after so many years. She seems more content, at ease, and emancipated. Her gaze swept over mine, but it was no longer my house. Despite feeling some discomfort in my chest, I nevertheless grinned at her. If she recalls me the same way I remember her, I'm curious. I wonder whether she has any memories of the nights we spent outside admiring and counting the stars while envisioning the splendour of those we could not see. I wonder if she recalls how we would laugh till we were sobbing over the silliest of things, then once we had calmed down, we would look at each other and the cycle would begin all over again. I wonder whether she can recall what it was like to pass out in each other's arms and experience intense love. She could recall those amusing small things we did together, I wonder. I do, however, hope she has forgotten about them. I really hope she doesn't think about those memories the way they do for me. I wish love does not torment her the way it tortures me. Most importantly, I hope she is truly content. I hope she continues to look at the moon, laugh until her stomach hurts, and has tearful emerald eyes. I hope she goes to sleep knowing she is loved. I wish she had happiness in her life. Because the only thing more painful than remembering our love is knowing that it causes her pain as well.
