Now it's time for the semi-annual ale update! They got a haircut and some new scars. They've also undergone a lot of character growth in just the past few sessions! Yippee, no longer at a 10/10 for the mental health pain scale, we're at like a 9 or an 8, which is better than where they've been for the past ehhhh year? Give or take.

They still have a lot of growth to go through, and I'm sure especially with this upcoming arc we have lined up, they're going to get worse before they get better but we're mostly on the right track

The Vocator

Big homebrew time. Have 30 pages x)

so yeah! The Vocator! Its a variant class, since I'm enjoying making them, and this ones probably my new favourite of the bunch! The vocator exists as a modernization of the stuff seen in the 3.5e Binder, mixing its vestige mechanics with a bit of spellcasting too.

The class is pretty funky, its designed to sort of be a hyper-versatile, spellcaster-martial? That last sentence had no meaning, alright so. It fills a similiar role as the warlock, being a spellcaster who plays more like a martial, and its versatility comes in how you can practically rebuild your character each day. Got a social scenario? Bind vestiges related to social checks. Got combat? Switch to a bunch of combat stuff. Need healing? Get a healing vocator. With the vestiges on hand, the ability to swap subclasses baked in and such, the design is very much that you can customize and change your role in a party each day.

Overall, yeah, I am really happy with how this turned out, hopefully you guys like it as much as I do

Not much has change since level 7 aesthetically, so this time I decided to show (most) of ale's possible summons. they can also potentially summon a horse if bound to a different vestige, and they can only summon Rocks Ann when bound to a vestige that's pretty niche.

Nonetheless, ale is like "look at all these friends I've made."

Bonus points of where i got all of the names for the summons from.

Vocator Extras

This is coming out a little bit after the main one (since I wasn't finished with this one when it came out) but heres the "Extras" document, which has a bunch of misc stuff to go with the Vocator. The doc includes Feats, Magic Items, some NPC statblocks, bonus rules and a whole section just on flavor text for summoning the new vestiges! Hopefully this is something also enjoyable!

Vocator Extras 2

Heres that thing I was working on <: 

Its a grab bag of extra vocator stuff, with a Wizard subclass, 3 new vestiges, and of course Teeth Of Dehlver Nar to go with.

The three vestiges are pretty neat. Two of them are adapted from 3.5e, and were on the very edge between making it into the original doc and not, and just managed to not end up making the cut. But its nice to finally actually have them here proper. Paimon’s an alternative at level 5 to Marus for weapon vocators, going for a more movement heavy, multi-target style of combat, with a dash built into the main attack, which scales quickly with level.

 Primus is a funky one, who has a scaling bonus for trying to maintain your turn, a thing that is designed to eventually be a bit of a puzzle in trying to decide between adapting your turns, or sticking to your ordered pattern. Freed from chaos on the other hand, lets you trade away more and more randomness in what you do, in exchange for enemies gaining the same benefits.

 Lastly, is Wadenyat, which is a tribute to a pair of characters a friend made in a campaign I was in. They’re probably the favourite amongst the vestiges I’ve written, since they exemplify what I think is fun and good vestige design, with weird and alien features with strange effects, and powers that can become hinderences to their very users. The immolation spell, the turning spells non-magical, letting you resist damage in exchange for your own sanity, and then lastly literally turning yourself into a nuclear bomb. Is that level 17 version a little bit crazy? Absolutely, though of course do note, it doesnt trigger from nonlethal damage, so if you see a vocator bearing their sign, be careful as you stab them :3

As for the wizard subclass, thats an adaptation of the Anima Mage prestige class from 3.5, mixed in with some of the new content I dropped in the last extras doc.
