Queue is starting to empty so I guess I'll do a little more race stuff.
In Kaelam there are four types of elf excluding half elf. Aurin, Igni, Sylvan, and Umbral. I have touched on Umbral a little bit before but I'll try to expand upon them all.
Aurin: the tallest and most prideful of all elf kind, the Aurin Caan are fair skinned with golden tinges and bright blond or white hair. The Aurin have all but dispensed with the notion of physical combat and mastered the arcane, making them physically fragile but mentally attuned. They still train their military in advanced martial weaponry but it is considered a last resort. The Aurin have a divine heritage and a puritan outlook on bloodlines. This is for good reason though, as their lineage provides a knack for arcane arts and gives them a commanding presence (translating to one extra spell slot per day and a once a day charm). From their mountain home, they maintain strong political relations with the Sylvan and Umbral Caan, as well as the humans, dragonkin and dragons themselves. Due to the difference in traditions however, they fail to connect with orcs and Jotun (half giants).
Igni: the shortest of all Caan, the Igni have a fiery temper and unquenchable passion. The Igni have mastered all things fire, due to their ifreeti lineage. They have no designated territory or province as many of the Igni are nomadic and loathe being tied down to one place. However, there is a city in the deserts of Ka-krosh, called the red city. It is dominated by ignis caan and has become their capital without a state. The red city is a central hub where Igni from all walks of life may come, meet and trade goods or services to others. Igni are welcomed into the city without batting an eye but any other race has to undergo extensive background checks and paper work to enter.
Sylvan: Taller than Igni but shorter than the rest, the Sylvani people are dominant in the forests of Vaelden. They maintain druidic traditions while allowing societal progression, under the discretion of the druid queens. They developed a pseudo-science utilising their ability to manipulate flora. Their homes are built into the great trees that surround them, they utilise crystal formations and magical plant bulbs to cast light into the underbrush. They give sentience to the trees and employ them as guardians. Due to their affinity with nature, it is also common to see wild animals roaming freely among their cities, unconcerned with the presence of the elves. The Sylvani owe all this power to their dryad lineage, and it shows in their appearances, Sylvani develop unusual features that betray their lineage, whether it be bark like skin, or flowers in place of hair, their ancestry presents itself in a multitude of physical attributes.
Umbral: unlike the drow of standard dnd, Umbral elves are only evil in folklore and myth. These tall, cave dwelling half demons are actually dominated by a sympathetic disposition, they were born of war and pillaging, and forced underground by both their physical limitations and their fellow Caan, who distrusted them. The life of an Umbra is a sorrowful one at the best of times. They are constantly reminded of their demonic ancestry and shunned by most other races. However, their divine brethren, the Aurin, see this sorrow and view it as an injustice. The Aurin have built tunnels all through their mountain home and welcomed the umbra to live among them.
