summary: you’re leading your middle school baseball team to the Allegheny County middle school baseball championship. With Harrison Ashcroft as your star pitcher and favorite student, you recount all the times you’ve noticed his mom, Cassie McKay. Known to be a heartbreaker yourself, you find yourself falling back into your lover ways. Cassie Mckay will do that to people, especially you.
authors note: hey gang! it’s been a very long time since the last time i’ve put out a work. lots have changed to say the least #deaddadclub lol. on the brighter side, i’ve finally sat down and wrote. i’ve watched the pitt since season one came out and wanted to write something for my baby. no clue on what a posting schedule will look like, but im excited to try this again. i hope you all have been well and enjoy.
The cool breeze was a nice break from the early summer heat at the Allegheny Middle School baseball field. The sound of encouraging parents, giggly younger siblings hyped up on sugar-filled candy, and the fresh crack of a baseball bat overwhelmed your ears. The hot sun rays tanning your skin reminds you to reapply your sunscreen at the top of the inning. The field was freshly tended and ready for the Allegheny Astros championship run, the first in over twenty years. You were the school’s beloved gym coach. In addition, you also found yourself coaching girls basketball in the winter and baseball in the spring. Teachers ask you all the time how you do it, but you love your little gremlins too much to not. There was something so rewarding seeing these awkward kids grow to love a sport and their teammates just the same. Being there for all spotting milestones is what carried you through the long nights and even longer games on the weekends.
The shrill of the umpire's whistle snapped you back into reality. It was the bottom of the 8th inning and the Astros just needed to get the job done. You noticed your star pitcher, Harrison, getting ready to head out to the pitchers mound. To say you didn’t have a soft spot for this kid would be a bold-face lie. Harrison had been very reluctant to start playing on your baseball team when you had encouraged it. He is a very shy kid, so the idea of being in the spotlight really did not look appealing. Yet, the look on his face after his first strikeout of the season made you feel whole. You seemingly were not the only one who was excited at his new found hobby. His father, Chad, was especially ecstatic that his son picked up the sport (and you could tell).
Chad was your least favorite kind of parent. The man showed up to every game parading his far-too-young girlfriend just to backseat-coach. Oftentimes, yelling at Harrison like he’s the general manager of the Pirates. You had a no bullshit policy for parents like these, but once Harrision let you know just why his mom couldn’t make it to games, you had to suck it up and be cordial with that asshole.
You had only spoken to Cassie McKay via quick texts and phone calls. On the days Harrison had with Cassie, you had made an agreement to drop him off at his grandparents after practice. Although you had limited interactions, the auburn woman had stayed on your mind. You had wondered how different Cassie would be from her horrible ex-husband. With the way Harrison talked about his mom, and how sweet of a boy he is, you had figured it had to come from her and only her. To your surprise, you look up in the stands to see a flustered Cassie McKay. She is wearing a black, short-sleeved scrub top with her matching scrub bottoms, assumingly had just rushed here after her shift at PTMC. Her jaw lazily chewing on a piece of gum directs your eyes to her gold chain shimmering in the sunlight; a bead of sweat rolls down her neck. Her strong hands wringing a plastic water bottle as her knee can’t help but jitter. You quickly shake the thought of thirsting over your work-kid’s mom and get back to the very important task at hand. You grab Harrison’s attention before he heads to the mound.
“Hey kid, no matter what happens out there I just want you to know how lucky I am to have you on my team. Go out there and let that shit fly, alright? C’mon here we go!” You tap his helmet with a huge smile.
Harrison giggles at the cuss word flying out of your mouth. You have a habit of letting those “bad words” loose during games.
“That’s a dollar in the jar!” Harrison yells to you as he runs to the mound.
You had promised the team you’d add a dollar to the swear jar for every cuss word you’ve said during the season. The kids decided to use the money for a team barbeque at your house. For some reason middle schoolers are obsessed with knowing every intimate detail about their teachers, including where they live. You shake your head and laugh at the boy in front of you. The second whistle to signal the start of the inning leaves the umpire's mouth. Harrison lets out a long exhale before throwing the first pitch. Ball. You see the call start to weigh in on the kid. You clap your hands and hope Harrison can shake it off.
“It’s okay, baby! You got this!” A loud voice emerges from the stands. Your head turns to the sound to see Cassie cheering her boy on.
Harrison’s eyes light up in excitement for a moment as he sees his mom watching. With another deep breath, he prepares his second pitch.
“Strrrriiiike!” The umpire's voice booms and the bench goes wild.
Harrison looks over to you and all you do is nod with a smile. He’s back in his zone and you know it.
The next pitch and the pitch after that ends with the same fate, and Harrison is on fire. Your eyes can’t help but gravitate towards the beaming smile Cassie McKay has. Her pure pride emanating from her tired eyes makes your assumptions of her feel correct. Her eyes meet yours for a brief second and you feel your breath hitch. A small wink from the lady with the bangs causes your stomach to flip. In a brief panic you awkwardly wave back towards her. Before you could see her reaction, your eyes snapped back towards the field.
“Get it the fuck together” you whisper to yourself.
Unbeknownst to you, Cassie found this fairly amusing and definitely endearing. She had only heard the best things about you from Harrison, which started the pique in interest. At first when her son came home asking about starting baseball, Cassie was skeptical. Not that she hated the sport; she’s a huge Pirates fan. Harrison just never particularly brought up an interest in playing the sport on his own. Of course, when she was with Chad, he had dreams of white picket fences and playing catch with his kid. She had hoped that her son’s father would not force him into finding something in common. But then, she saw you. It was a parent teacher conference night and she was able to bribe Shen to come in an hour earlier to relive her. Being an R3 at her age comes with its struggles, and having a 12 year old son complicates that. You were talking to a parent intently when she passed by the gym with her son; Harrison had caught your eye. You sent him a subtle wink as he passed and the boy immediately smiled seeing his favorite teacher. You were dressed in your school sanctioned polo with grey slacks and loafers. Your hair was slicked back, and out of your face. A very simple, yet professional attire for the evening meetings. Yet, all Cassie could stare at was the way your shirt hugged your arms. Or how your thighs filled out your well fitted slacks. She swore she almost passed out when you turned to the side to see how firm your ass was. She shook her head and tried not to think about how she’s perving out on her kids' teacher. Let alone perving out on her kid’s teacher who had to be at least a decade younger than her. Ever since that night, Harrison was not the only one who was obsessed with you. She spent an embarrassing amount of time stalking your Facebook account (she will never admit to). This led to her finding your coaching account on instagram. It looks like during your downtime, you personal train clients and athletes in the greater area. This revelation had her drooling from more places than one. Your account was filled with you hitting PRs; muscles flexing and gleaming with your sweat. And grunting. How could she forget about the whines, groans, and moans that left your plump lips. Just thinking about it makes her stomach flip and her legs weak. As much as she tried, she couldn’t help but watch you.
Then came the text messages. Once the ride agreement was made, you would make sure to keep her updated on when her son made it home safe. This then turned into you setting up a live stream for her to watch games while on break after a very thoughtful text she had sent you.
Cassie hadn’t been able to make any games during the season due to her rigorous work schedule. This caused many nights of tears and frustration; feeling like a failure of a mother, she picked up the phone to text you. She doesn’t make a habit of pouring her heart out to strangers, but she was a little sleep deprived and a whole lot stressed. You had been so sweet with her in reassuring that despite her not making it, Harrison was okay. This had your heart aching with the itch to make the mom feel included. The next day you tried to play it off to the district that many families were asking for live recordings of the games. Yet deep down, you really just wanted Harrison to know his mom could be watching. You couldn’t be more happy for Harrison to have his mom here at the big game…and a little selfishly for yourself too.
The next two at-bats were a clean sweep with Harrison throwing a complete shutdown. You throw your clipboard to the ground and run to the mound at the sound of the final whistle. Your boys had become Allegheny county champions! Your kids damn near trample you embrace them.
“Holy shit guys! I knew you could do it!” You hug your team.
A collective “Swear jar!” erupts from the boys and you cackle.
“I’ll put fifty in the jar just for today, how about that?” You giggle as the boys go crazy.
Your cheeks hurt from all the smiling you’ve done after the medal ceremony; the cheap engraved zinc alloy still hung around your neck like an olympic gold medal. These moments you have with these kids keep you going in your darkest of days. You try not to spiral as you start to collect all of the equipment to bring back to your car. Moments like these are when you wish you had someone at home to share with. The meaningless sex at the end of the day is just that– meaningless. Before you could think any harder, you hear your name called from behind.
“I came to finally find out for myself how great the world famous Allegheny Astros coach is for myself. Not that I’m not enjoying this view though.” Says a raspy voice from none other than Cassie McKay.
Your eyes damn near pop out of your head at the very forward flirting attempt from Harrison’s mother. Let’s be real here. You are the furthest thing from being dense. You were no stranger to parents and coworkers alike hitting on you. You weren’t a prude with it either. You were a lover at heart, but after your last heart break, you decided to explore more…fun options. You’ve had flings with a few of your coworkers in the past, which you unfortunately learned makes for really awkward teacher inservice days. Nonetheless, you never felt any connection deeper than the physical with them. None of them could have gotten close to making you feel the way Cassie McKay makes you feel. You haven’t indulged in the feeling for a few very obvious reasons. You value your relationship as a coach and teacher to all of your kids, especially Harrison, Cassie is at least ten years your senior, and there is no way this woman is gay.
You place the ball bag on the ground and walk closer to Cassie.
“I was wondering when I’d get to meet you too, Dr.Mckay.” You smile, trying to remain somewhat professional. There’s no way she meant to be flirty, right?
“Oh please, just call me Cassie, sweetheart. I get enough of that at work.” Her kind eyes and smile make it hard to look away. Her soft lips make it even harder for you to stop imagining them all over.
“Sorry, Cassie it is then. I’m really happy you could make it-I mean I am sure Harrison was super happy you could make it.” You flush, wishing for the field to swallow you whole.
“He has really grown from the start of the season and I really do think we’ve got something special going on.” You smile even harder at the thought of Harrison’s potential.
Cassie finds your enthusiasm endearing and could not have wanted someone better in her son’s life.
“We really could not have done it without you. I mean I know my work schedule really isn’t ideal, but having you in his corner really means something to me, ya know?” Cassie smiles a real and genuine smile that reaches her eyes. You make a note to yourself wanting to make her do that more often.
“I would do anything for that kid and you’ve got my word. These kids really do mean everything to me so really, thank you for letting me help in any way.” You reach your arm out to Cassie’s bicep. Her eyes flicker back to yours as the both of you can’t find it in yourself to move.
Harrison’s laugh breaks the both of you out of your trance as you realize most of the families have cleared the stadium. You clear your throat and look anywhere but at the beautiful woman ahead. Cassie then reaches back out to your belt loop, lightly tugging to grab your attention. The both of you now face to face.
“Let me cook you dinner sometime? Ya know, thank you for everything.” She smirks as you feel your mouth go completely dry. Before you could find the words, you nod like an idiot.
“Uh yeah, yeah I would like that.” You mutter out.
“I’ll text you, yeah? I promised the kid Chili’s for the win.”

Adrenaline thumps with a high pressure through Sevika’s veins. She can feel her heart pumping so hard she wonders how it doesn’t burst through her chest. This is not what she expected when Jinx agreed to breaking into Stillwater. The place isn’t necessarily the most welcoming (even though she is very familiar with the prison) yet, a ten-foot-something killing beast was not on her bingo card. At this point she wonders why she has any expectations when Jinx is involved.
These past few weeks, Sevika has wondered if this is what will finally kill her. If all she ever has been good for has been a soldier. First under Vander, then under Silco, and now? She tries to keep hope, but all she can feel is despair. The dark and looming feeling felt thick in her throat like the gray. Decaying her insides until she asphyxiates on its rot. That is until she comes home to you. All of her doubt leaves her body once she steps foot into your shared space. The smell of your body wash mixed with the candles you always have lit immediately relaxes her. Her shoulders no longer feel like it's holding the weight of Zaun once she’s home. Meeting you has single handedly given her a new wind beneath her wings.
Throughout her time fighting for independence, she quickly realized just how insignificant her life is, or at least that’s what she’s been told. She is always putting her life on the line for the greater good. She stopped fighting so that she could live the life she thinks everyone else deserves. Hell, she doesn’t believe she deserves half of what she is fighting for. Sevika knows she has done some unsavory things in her past. Things she won’t ever forgive herself for doing. Gods, Janna knows she’s been nothing close to a saint. There are things she’s done that haunt her in her dreams, and she thought she has come to terms with this fact. The fact that not all is good in love and war. Not all of the horrors she's experienced and been on the other side of producing were necessary.
She never saw a life for herself post Zaun independence. Ever since she joined the fight, she's only seen herself dying alone in one of three places: in a fight, in the brothel, and at the end of a bottle. So she drank and smoked and gambled and fought her life away, because it's the least she could do. She fights so that the next generation doesn't need to skirmish with each other in the lanes. She fights so that not another kid gets orphaned by the mines or the chembarrons, or shit, even shimmer, but fighting for her own life never even crossed her mind. Who could blame her if that is all she’s known? Her deadbeat father didn’t teach her the value of her worth, that's for sure. So, why would she bat an eye at her reckless lifestyle? Unexpectedly, that all changed. She didn’t see herself as valuable until you came into her life. You and your unabashed love for her. You and the light you bring to every room you step in. You and your confidence in Sevika to come back home to you. If Sevika is one thing she is loyal, and fiercely loyal she is to you. So when her priorities lied loyal to you, she was forced to come to terms she never even dreamed of having. The sole idea of growing old and having a love like in the fairytales made her feel like a young girl again. Yet, this led to turmoil within her head. She now has to break down all of the things she’s barred herself from receiving, all of the chances at a semi-normal life. She now has to realize just how much she does want to live, and that is where her true fears lie.
Sevika didn’t start consciously fighting until you opened her eyes to what love is. She couldn;t deal with the heartbreak she brought you when she came home two weeks late after the blast. She will never forget the sobs of relief you made when she hobbled into your shared space, the horror in your eyes when you noticed her arm missing. No matter how frustrated and full of emotions you were, you never yelled. This is when Sevika knew you were it for her. Many times in her younger years did she disregard the advancements of genuine connections from others. She would meet someone, enjoy their company for a few weeks and then essentially ghost them. Only to return weeks if not months later looking for some fun. This never bode well with her flings; leaving constant screaming matches in her wake left her ears ringing with a headache. So when she essentially did the same to you (under different circumstances) Seviks assumed the same would be with you. Yet, to her surprise you stayed. She never understood how a gentle love found her. She spends her restless nights looking at the silhouette of your face, wondering how and why you chose her. Her whole life has been filled with loss and pain, gentleness is not something she has ever experienced.
“Sevika, take her and go!” Jinx cries as she tosses Isha’s small and frail body into Sevika’s muscular one.
Her eyebrows knit together as her body moves before her brain thinks. She must’ve frozen at the sight of the large beast slaughtering several Enforcers. With no second thought, her body is sprinting as fast as she can. The young girl in her arm (that she has started to grow fond of) lets out a series of cries as she tries to wiggle out of her protective grasp. Her cries drive Sevika to find a way out of the prison. The whimpers of the mute girl bore into her brain as memories of her as a young child resurface. The tears dripping onto her bicep keep her moving.
Sevika is unable to produce words to the young girl. She curses as she knows that the words and emotions were more of your thing. Sevika wants to comfort her and tell her that Jinx will be okay, but even she doesn’t know that for sure.
So, she tries to think of things you would do to keep Isha happy. How your gentle presence allowed for the orphan girl to have a liking to you. She tries to caress her head the way you’ve done when putting her to sleep, but the lack of another arm leaves it more difficult. The best thing she can do is ensure the girl's safety. Sevika shakes her head and digs deep in her bones for extra fuel. Her body aches and has been aching extra hard these past days, but giving up is not an option. So, she thinks of anything but the carnage she just bore witness to and the heaviness of her legs slapping against the harsh concrete. Images of rare late mornings with you start playing in her mind. The sleepy cuddles with you raking your fingers through her hair and caressing her cheek play like a bitter sweet movie. The face you made when she came home with Jinx and Isha follows next. The softness that overcame your features when Isha peaked from behind Jinx’s leg left a feeling in Sevika’s chest that she never felt before. Warmth radiated through her heart like turning on a heater on the first day of winter. These thoughts carried her from topside to your shared home in Zaun.
The heavy footfalls outside of your humble apartment left your blood fall chill. Flashbacks to when Sevika came back from nearly dying left your heart beat pumping triple time. The door flings open to see a disheveled Sevika carrying an almost identical disheveled Isha. Your heart sinks as you piece what most likely had happened.
“Baby?” Your voice cracks as you walk closer to assess damages.
Sevika tries to hold on for you and for Isha, but knows if she speaks, tears will come. So she resorts to grunting. She hands Isha over to you and walks to the bathroom. You gape at her for a moment before springing to action. It isn’t until you feed, bathe, and clothe the young girl until you see Sevika step out of the room. You take that as a sign that she is ready to speak and you carry the young girl to the couch. Isha is knocked out at this point, you assume the combination of her crying and all that just went on really worn her out. You give the girl one last rub on the back and leave her with a kiss to the forehead.
You pass the kitchen to see the plate that you had left for Sevika to have been gone and in the sink ready to be cleaned. A small smile adorns your face as you are grateful for the fact that she was able to eat. You grab two glasses and fill them with water for you to bring to your shared bedroom.
You gently knock on the door before opening to see Sevika staring out the window. You make your way over to her side of the bed and rest the glasses of water on the nightstand. She doesn't even notice your presence until a small ‘clink’ of the glasses takes her out of her trance.
“Baby, what happened?” You take a seat right next to your lover, raking your fingertips up and down her spine. You can feel just how tense her whole body is as she sits rigid like a statue.
A shaky sigh is let out from Sevika as her eye contact remains looking at the darkness outside. The two of you just sit in silence for a bit until Sevika is able to start from the beginning. She lets you know just how terrified she actually felt at that time, she lets you know just how weak she felt without her arm, and she lets you know how you and Isha were the only things keeping her going. She lets you know how you were her north star and how without you, she would have just given up.
“I don’t even know what I am doing anymore, babe.” A stray tear finds its way down her cheek.
“All I ever do is fight and I just don’t know how much more I have in me. I'm tired…I am so tired.” More tears silently flow against your lover's cheek, breaking your heart at the sight. You caress her cheek, wiping away the tears she was too lazy to do herself.
Tiny cracks in your heart open like bullet wounds at her admission of her thoughts. You’ve known this to be true for a long time, yet being the protector that she is, Sevika never opened up to you about it. It is now time for you to put your strong face on and pick her up when she’s low, just like how she’s done for everyone else her entire life. You turn her face to look at yours, your tender hand contrasting her firm jaw. Sevika is reluctant to show you her brokenness, but she is just too tired to care at this point. Her eyes look past yours, darting around the room to find anywhere but your eyes.
“Look at me, honey.” You caress her cheek in hopes to coax her out of her mental prison. Your patience knows no bounds and that makes Sevika feel things she can’t even start to comprehend alone.
Her eyes trail to your own, swimming with emotion. She sees her future in your eyes and it scares her. You give her an encouraging smile and she feels her walls cracking.
“I- You’ve made me realize the things that I wish I could have and it scares me. I had nothing to lose for so long, and now I have so much on the line.” Her eyebrows furrow.
“Seeing the way you’ve completely changed my life confuses me. I know I don’t deserve a life that you are making me dream of.” Your eyes go wide at her confession to you.
“I never gave myself the opportunity to even imagine a world where I’m not alone, you know? But that day I came home to you after the explosion…It confused me. You have been the only constant in my life and I guess it just really hit today.” She nuzzles her face into your palm as you kiss the top of her head.
“Baby, you it hurts me to know that you can’t see just how much you deserve.” You lean in so that both of your foreheads are touching. Your eyes never leave her puppy dog grays.
“Because you know I am with you until the end. You are it for me Sev, you hear me? Whatever it takes.” You can barely get out the last of your words before Sevika is kissing you with all of the energy she has left. She may not be the best with her words, but she needs you to understand just exactly how you make her feel.
The kiss deepens as tears shed freely between the pair of you. Your bodies pressing close to one another, trying to engulf each other to become one. It gets to a point where Sevika has to pull away to catch her breath, but she doesn’t let you go too far. She stares at you in silence, taking in every aspect of your being.
“I’m terrified because you make me want those things. Having Isha here and seeing how you take care of her…” Sevika turns her head in slight embarrassment.
A huge smile adorns your face as you try and not scare her from opening up.
“Do you mean?” You whisper, afraid that if you spoke any louder you’d jinx (no pun intended) yourself.
Sevika’s face is hot with awkwardness at her vulnerability. She hasn’t spoken these words aloud to anyone, especially yourself.
“I want to keep waking up to you and Isha making breakfast. I want to keep teaching her how to tinker and fix things. I want to come home from work to see you both dancing in the living room. I want to grow old with you, baby. Seeing just how quick all of that could have went away, Gods that fucked me up.” She uses her hand to tug her hair away from her eyes.
“You were the only thing on my mind. I had to keep going for you and Isha.”
And now it is your turn to start crying. Your tears freely fall for the love of your life. The privilege you have had to see Sevika grow into the woman who is sitting in front of you.
“I want all of that with you, are you kidding me? You’re the woman of my dreams babe. Whether you like it or not you’re stuck with me.” You laugh teary eyed and smile at the smirk your lover returns.
The two of you share quite giggles as you both crawl into bed. The day is finally settling and Sevika is definitely feeling its effects. You hold her in your arms and try to burn this into your memory forever.
“So…you wanna be Mama Sev, huh?” You tease and laugh at her body going rigid.

tw: PTSD and death mentioned
hurt/comfort for the fall season! (totally not self indulgent whaaaat)
You comfort Sev after a rough nights sleep
The air felt thick as your eyes adjusted to the harsh sunlight peeking through your apartment window. A groan leaves your lips as you root around your bed for your girlfriend. As you come to it, you recognize what the cool sheets on your bed signifies. Sevika is missing from your bed for the third time this week. Many who didn’t know her would assume that she was back in her old stomping grounds, messing around with Babettes girls. Yet, you knew her better than anyone else, better than she knew herself.
You roll out of bed, leaving the comfort of your sheets and the smell of your lover. As your feet padded through your shared home, the sound of a whiskey glass hitting the coffee table filled your ears. Your first thought was annoyance at her inability to use a coaster (you think she does it just to fuck with you). Your soon second thought was questioning why she was up this early on her off day. Silco was kind enough to let her take a few days off…well after you had given him a very stern talking to. Sevika swears that the only thing he’s scared of would be you.
As you turn the corner, you see your lover hunched over her strong legs. Her chemtech arm off for the night, leaving her residual limb in the open. Her hair is down and in her face, not even caring that she can’t see well. Her flesh arm balancing a cigarillo and a whiskey glass, interchanging between vices. Her distant stare tells you she’s had a nightmare. Her staggering breath and deep frown tells you that she’s in her head. Sevika’s PTSD symptoms ebbs and flows with her day to day life. The fast pace and graveness of her line of work distracts her from the horrors that plague her mind in the quiet of the night. Yet, tonight, it seemingly has caught up to her.
A deep sigh leaves your mouth as you bite the corners of your lip, scouring your mind at what could’ve triggered her. The night before was filled with laughter and love between the two of you. The softer, less brute side of Sevika shone brightly through her hardened exterior. The side she only let you see.
You take a seat right next to her on your shared couch.Your arm moves to her hair, swiping her blunt locks away from her line of sight, tucking them behind her ears. A short grunt leaves her lips as a sign that she’s aware of your presence. When Sevika gets in these moods, you know better than to pester her to talk. She has seen and experienced horrific things, many of which you mightn’t even know. So when she feels comfortable in sharing even a sliver of her life, you let her at her own pace.
The pair of you sit in comfortable silence as your fingertips trail invisible figures across her body. You’ve learned through your relationship, keeping an aspect of constant physical touch in moments like these, keep her grounded. What makes you so different from all she’s mess with before is your attention to detail. You constantly find ways to keep her from disconnecting further into her pain, especially on days like these.
“He was there.” She kept her gaze distant and hard.Your hand squezees hers as an act of encouragement.
“I was a kid again and he-“ Her chest rises as her breath quickens, cheeks flush with anger. You rub her shoulder in hopes to calm her nerves. You knew Sev had a tumultuous relationship with her father growing up. Brief stories of her youth had slipped through during druken nights shared between you two, but that was the bulk of your understanding. You never thought to cross the boundary of asking how that came to be. A clearing of her throat brought you back to her as her eyes grossed over. A thick swallow of her throat and a shake of her head was enough to keep her emotions at bay.
“It’s been uh, difficult this time of year. Ya know it would’ve been ma’s birthday.” A glimpse of a bittersweet smile can be seen on her face. A surprised expression dawned yours. You thought Sev speaking of her dad was rare! She’s never once mentioned her mother to you in the past years you’ve known her.
“She would’ve loved you, i know it.” A smile couldnt be held back this time. Her distant stare broke as she looked into your eyes.
“I hate that stupid sappy shit you’re into-“ You giggle and slap her arm.
“But, I knew that ma sent you for me the second that I met you.” A shy and bashful smile adorned your lovers face as she nuzzles her nose into her favorite spot, your neck.
You feel your heart explode at her words. Sevika easily has been your most romantic lover (although she likes to downplay it to herself). You cup her strong jaw into your palm and kiss her. You hope every single ounce of your passion, love, and emotions can be felt by her through your lips. Sevika melts into your kiss, allowing for her tense body to relax in your touch.
Being vulnerable is hard for her, she knows that. She sometimes wonders if life hadn’t been so cruel in the undercity, if her father had cared for her…if her mother never died, how different her life would’ve been. Would she have given her life over to the cause? Would she have been something other than a soldier? Or would she still just be a cog in Silcos rebellion? Would she have found things that she liked? Would she have a hobby that didn’t include death and destruction? Would she have kids with you? Would she be less fucked to bring a child into the world and actually be a good mother? All of these were thoughts that had plagued her mind the moment she had gotten woken up by that nightmare.
And yet, here she is, unable to express the flurry of emotions to you. So…kissing will do. She’ll connect your bodies until you’re one so you can feel the deep connection she feels for you. She will be your fiercest protector and keep living for you. For you, have given her a new meaning, a new spark. She’ll keep fighting for Zaun, fighting for you so you will be able to have the life she dreams for you.
You part with her for a second before her lips chase you down. Her flesh arm reaching for you, holding onto your body like she fears if she doesn’t you’ll disappear. You climb onto her lap in one swift motion, needing to become one with her.
“I’m yours. I’m not going anywhere, Sev. I love you.” You stare into her eyes, into her soul. You need her to know that you will never leave her like her loved ones did.
Her steele eyes widen with appreciation and deep appreciation.
“Baby I-I love you. I will do everything to make Zaun the place you deserve.”
Your heart aches at her confession. No, it’s not the first time you’ve said those words to each other, but it is few and far between. Sevika shows you in your day to day just how much she loves you, so you never felt insecure in her loyalty to you. Yet, your heart aches for her. Your heart aches for the pain and the suffering that she’s endured and continues to experience. Your heart aches for the fact that you know she believes she doesn’t deserve good, that she doesn’t deserve you.Your revaluation turns a light within you.
“As long as I'm alive I will spend my days showing you how worthy you are.” You caress her strong jaw and place a kiss on her forehead.
i fear the voices are making me write for sev again (i miss her bad)
so
sevika falling for nerd!reader (this is totally NOT self indulgent wdym??)
SFW
You both met when silco decided to hire you
And by hire you, he threatened to kill you if you didn’t acquire the money your father owed him (he didn’t care if your father died. he needed his money some way or another)
You, being a modest engineer, did not have much to offer
Except for your brains
Sev was definitely skeptical about you when you first landed on the team (but let’s be fr when is she ever open minded and welcoming)
She was tasked to keep you company whilst doing your various tasks (silco calls it bodygaurding, sevika calls it babysitting)
Sevika likes to pretend that she hates brooding around you but that would be a lie.
You’re sitting around doing your work.
glasses sliding down the bridge of your nose, making your concentrated face.
& Sev’s whole body is lit on fire.
oh don’t get me started on when she hears you in your meetings talking your smart shit
she’s practically drooling
CALLING ! YOU ! COOKIE !
this started off as her calling you a smart cookie (absolutely trying to be demeaning when she first met you)
and when you finally chip her walls the nickname spirals into something endearing
“Cookie, cmere real quick”
“Ya know i don’t understand that smart shit, cookie”
“ Maybe I need tutoring, Cooks”
She absolutely will stare down the men in your meetings who try and demean you.
“ Look, I don’t know what the fuck you guys are talking about but she does. Next time you interrupt her it’ll be my foot up your ass”
Will ALWAYS be asking you to tinker with her arm
You’ve gotten caught staring at her one too many times
not just because she’s ya know so delicious looking
But because you’re thinking about the many many different ways you can upgrade her!
This obviously did not bode well when she first met you!
Barring her teeth at you and the whole 9 yards but that didn’t stop the pull you both felt for each other!!!
She revels in making you nervous
At the start, Sevika used to use her “scary lady status” (you’ve coined this term) on you
she’d absolutely tower over you with a :| face just to push your glasses up your nose
she’d watch your breath catch in your chest as your heart pounded heavily with a smirk
now! she uses her scary lady status on you for good!
she absolutely will threaten you to take breaks
So many times has she found you sitting at your desk, mouth open, and softly snoring
Meanwhile, her heart breaks into thousands of little pieces
“Cooks, you work too hard. How many times do I gotta check you’re here before going home?”
She shakes her head as she hoisted your body over her brute shoulder.
she absolutely loves you reading to her
after a long day of work for the both of you
you can bet on it that Sev will mope around you until you’re ready to lay with her head on your lap
Sev never understood the whole point of reading growing up
Having a rocky relationship with her family (her dad) she never experienced the warmth being read to could have brought.
So when you offered to read to her after a particularly hard day she thought you were joking
Absolutely within 20 minutes of you reading and scratching her scalp did she comically fall asleep
I mean open mouth dad snoring with drool dripping onto your blanket
but it’s okay because you’d won’t have it any other way :)
