This is my SoulDoll Chu, that I painted for the DoA face up contest this year. Of course I didn't win, but I always like joining to motivate myself to work on my BJD. In past years I did the sewing contests, because I am not confident in my miniature painting skills to join the face up challenges, but I suck at sewing so bad, I think that it's the only way I finish anything anymore! DX
Sadly, this year I had family members visiting us during summer with little children, right when the DoA contests began, and just happen to be leaving today (the day most contest deadlines were set for)! So, I knew I wouldn't be able to do something that took a lot of time, like making a whole outfit. I decided to join the face up one. Seemed like a lot of fun, and I surely was enlighten. I never thought I could paint semi-crappy brow hair and lashes with wet pastels! Not something I would ever do again, but it was fun to try once.
My Chu is a very dark character, so he won't be keeping this face up for long, but I thought it would be fun to paint him to look different from his previous looks! I want to add a bit more to this face up, and try to see how he would look with a darker look with it, but I don't think the reddish tone fits the clone-of-death-look he's supposed to have. We'll see.
