So I just left you three reviews in a row because that is how prolific you are I was wondering, how do you plan your writing? Do you have system for it? Because I follow your personal posts as well and I'm like "how is this possible?" Btw this is not a complaint I'm just like, in awe. Thank you for all the work you publish for us!
YOUR REVIEWS MADE MY NIGHT!
Hmm oooh. Interesting question. Most of the stories start with at least one scene that is SUPER clear in my mind…like full movie-like, crystal clear. Basically that scene is always the crux of whatever story I want to tell and it will just come to me fully ready to go. I don’t really….plan other than that. Basically, I have that really clear scene and then I just like…have to color in the before/after, which I do free form. Like whatever comes out just…happens..and I follow it. I try to put myself visually/emotionally in the space if that makes sense? And then just kinda…follow wherever/whatever comes. I think I’m pretty fast because I write without really pausing to think at all. I can’t type fast enough and it’s obnoxious that I can’t? Sometimes I’ll write out the clear scene in pseudo - like a summary - but it’s mostly a mashup of dialogue or like the plot/thresholds I need the characters to hit emotionally. Dialogue is super important, I guess, and usually where the “clear scene” starts for me. But also, the “clear scene” if I had to describe, is more of an emotional dialogue than spoken??? No idea how to describe that. I basically have a folder of titles and pseudo scenes and then pick them up when the mood strikes.
Does any of that make sense? I don’t think I have a very good answer because it just….happens? Like, I feel like I’m along for the ride, not the one at the wheel.
As for why I’ve been writing so much…well. Things are hard rn. I before I published fic I would just day dream it, especially when was going thru a hard time. I would just lay in my bed with my eyes shut and….check out. I’ve been doing that since I was a little kid, it’s a huge coping mechanism for me. I would just hide and then…go away for hours and hours and hours in my head. So at least writing is productive? Sort of? Right now between working a lot and job searching and at doctor’s appts I don’t really know how to stop. Writing fic fills up any free time I might have because my brain is kinda noped out on the reality of my life, tbh. Oops. So at least in fic I can control the happy ending? I can write a better world? Idk.
