Muzzle shopping ugh

hi dogblr! I live in a wonderful and oh so progressist city where, since March, my dog has been deemed dangerous on the sole count of her fat head and thick hams. I’d say they’re just jealous because she can eat wathever and she stays fit, but it’s kinda serious time rn so she has to wear a muzzle any time she’s out of our house and not in an enclosed area where no hand or feet can get through, at least of 2m (6ft) height.

I have a muzzle for her, ut it’s for sort snout dogs like pugs and boston erriers and all. She’s cute in it and it /does/ fit her okay. But, I’d like to buy her an actual muzzle, because that one gets all messy and dirty so easily since it’s made of fabric and mesh. It looks more like a fly mask than a muzzle and she has managed to take it off a few times (in the most ridiculous and hilarious way, ask and you shall know lol).

SO I’ve compelled a few muzzles from amazon that I think would fit her, and I’d like some input from peeps with special snowflake dogs who have weird head shapes and snout width/lenght like mine. It’s a fucking hassle to fit her in a normal muzzle, for real. I’ve measured her, so the sizes should fit, but idk what to expect. Snout lenght i 2.5 inch, comfy at 3″. Circumference at the biggest is 11.5″ so min. 13″ for good panting, maybe more? idk should i measure something else as well?

My requirements are:

- good for panting heavily bc i go for bike rides with her and she gets hot

- allow me to shove treats in her face

- lightweight

- doesn’t cram up at the base of her eyes

- doesn’t get too hot (i’m scared that the meta wires one will be too hot if worn out in the sun for long periods)

So yeah, these are it. I think the muzzles I’ve pre-selected are good for all, but if you’ve got some other options, under 50$ pls, go ahead!! Also, it’s very very verrrrrrrrry important she be able to pant as uch as she likes because she has a heart murmur and I’m paranoid she’s gonna get a heat stroke and die, so yeah. also if anybody would like to buy one of the muzzle and ship it to my adress, i could repay via paypal bc i dont have a credit card but i can always work it out myself.

Q. I have a stubborn puppy who refuses to walk on the lead. Is it just his age? Is he genuinely too young and scared of the outside world? Or is he playing on my love and gullibility? I have a question regarding training your pup to walk on a leash. I have an 11 week old Boston Terrier who as he gets comfortable and settles in (almost 2 weeks now), his stubbornness is starting to shine more and more. There are many mixed ideas on puppies who refuse to walk on the lead. (Not pulling on the lead but digging in as best he can and pulling back, refusing to walk forward). From treat coaxing (doesn't work with my guy) to running with him (also does not work) to just pulling dragging until he walks (also does not work well and I feel horrible/worried as I'm unsure about this.) Is it just his age? Is he genuinely too young and scared of the outside world? Or is he playing on my love and gullibility? I don't want to push him as he is just a wee one, but i also don't want to aide in allowing or starting bad habits. A. I don’t believe in labeling puppies as stubborn, I would back up your thought process and teach this puppy markers. Give the puppy a reason to do as you ask, build value in your relationship. Usually when pups don’t want to go forward it is insecurity, not stubbornness. I’d read the article Ed wrote on The Groundwork to Becoming your Puppy’s Pack Leader. I would read our article on training dogs with Markers. I’d also recommend The Power of Training Dogs with Markers and Your Puppy 8 Weeks to 8 Months. You may want to just let him wear the leash and collar (or harness) and get used to dragging it around the house while you are supervising. Cindy Rhodes
