Gonna start using this blog as a place for worldbuilding for my OC’s. This is just gonna be a backstory to one of them…
Born with a missing upper jaw and snout in 2003, Reshi is a grey wolf-dog mix, who grew up ostracized in his hometown mostly due to his facial deformity paired with the natural social stigma of having a dog father who he never knew and wolf mother. Early in his teen years and after multiple run-ins with the law and dropping out of school, he developed an hidden interest in the nearby city’s most popular illegal underground sport: Kuroi-Ruka, a high stakes, often no holds barred fighting matches that sometimes involve weapons and can result in fatal injuries for one or (rarely) both of the fighters…
After years of watching and betting, Reshi decided to enter into the matches himself after turning the minimum age required: 21. (Dog years are similar to human years in this universe.) During the first several months, Reshi faced ridicule from both his former friends and other fighters for his decision to join the fighting, until he ended up accidentally killing an opponent during a late-night match. As a result, he faced his first common-level “intervention” (a fight-host-sponsored physical beating of the offender by the deceased victims family or friends as a way to send a message to any other fighters. Mostly done in response to a fighter killing their opponent in a ring that was advertised and intended to be non-lethal. Seen by fighters as a mark of honor rather than a punishment.) As a result of the intervention, other fighters and sponsors began to take Reshi and his fights more seriously. Pretty soon, he was doing high-level fights in more popular venues. As a result of the later fights, he lost the fingers on both his hands minus his thumbs, forcing him to find new methods to fight his opponents and rely more often on weapons he could sneak in with him, even in matches where weapons were prohibited….
