Day 177! This post is coming in later than usual because I was welcoming the newest member of my family!

4. “OH you’re jealous!”
Eiji rolls out of bed, ignoring the small whine that comes from Ash.
Ash reaches for him, trying to pull Eiji back into bed, but Eiji shakes him off.
“Ash,” he scolds. “You know I have to take Buddy for a walk.”
“Later,” Ash grumbles. “Snuggles now.”
Without responding, Eiji lands his feet solidly on the ground, and gets ready for the day. Ash continues to lie in bed, like Eiji knows he always will on a Saturday morning.
“Buddy!” Eiji calls once his morning preparations are done. “Come on, time for your walk.”
There’s a growl, but it’s not from the dog. Eiji raises an eyebrow at Ash.
“Really?” he asks. “You’re growling about me leaving with the dog for 20 minutes?” He walks over and ruffles Ash’s hair, to which Ash responds by pulling the covers over his head. “You cute house cat.”
“Eiji!” Ash whines. A hand reaches out from under the blanket and grabs blindly at Eiji’s arm. “No walk,” Ash grumbles. “Only snuggles.”
Rolling his eyes, Eiji pulls his arm out of Ash’s reach. “Buddy!” he calls again, and this time the dog comes running from his sleeping spot. “Are you ready for your walk?”
“Eiji! Don’t go!” Ash says, and Eiji hesitates. He has to take Buddy for a walk, but if Ash needs him for some reason ...
But then Ash growls again, and mumbles, “I can’t believe the dog is stealing my husband away from me.”
“Oh!” Eiji realizes. “You’re jealous.”
“What?” Ash replies, incredulous. He finally pulls the blankets down from over his head. “You think I’m jealous of our dog?”
“What other choice do I have than to believe it?” Eiji asks, smirking. “Here you are, pleading for me to stay with you rather than taking Buddy for a walk. And why?”
Ash narrows his eyes at Eiji.
“Jealousy,” Eiji finishes.
“No walk!” Ash says. “Only snuggles.”
Sighing, Eiji says, “You know, Buddy will be willing to wait if you want to come with us for our walk.”
Ash scrunches his nose up. Eiji just raises an eyebrow at him again.
“... Fine,” Ash snaps. “But I’m mad about it.”
Eiji just grins. Ash sits up, leading to Buddy jumping up on him and enthusiastically licking his face.
“Buddy!” Ash says, pushing at the dog. “Off of the bed!”
But both Ash and Eiji laugh, and spend a morning together that in the past never would have been possible.
