This is Doris Pollas, the cofounder of the organisation now known as lgbt+ Denmark which by being founded in 1948 is one of the oldest ongoing queer organisation in the world.

Doris lived in a farm in Jutland as a child. She was always butch and figured out she was a lesbian in her teens. When she heard about a club in copenhagen where boys kissed boys and girls kissed girls she went just some months after and it was through that club she started a paper connecting queer people all up to seventies and co founded lgbt+ Denmark.

She is now 97 years old and wishes for every queer person to have an as loving and accepting family as she did.

I don’t see a lot of older gays from my country, so learning about Doris, a masc lesbian, was really nice.

i stopped giving a shit about "legit" purchases of digital products after i spent $80 on the entire Dark Horse collection of Trigun/Trigun Maximum ebook mangas, learning that I only got access to reading them through a proprietary website ereader function, couldn't download them, and couldn't get a refund, and then literally only a year later, getting an e-mail stating that Dark Horse was shutting down that part of their company and I wouldn't even be able to read them anymore. Pirate shit. Don't feel bad for it. It's not "your fault" that artists, independent or otherwise, can't make a living. You downloading an album or ebook for free isn't the cause of the problem. The cause is capitalism, plain and simple, and pirating is a lucky loophole that companies are still trying to stomp out.

when i was a tiny baby queer (aka a 24-year-old), i went to my first pride festival probably three months after i kicked ex-gay therapy to the curb and came out to my parents. being the people they are, my parents came with me. they weren’t really sure about this whole gay thing, but they loved me and wanted me to be safe and happy and wanted to be involved in what was important to me, so they came along. (i also think my mother still might have thought i might get drugged or murdered or beaten by a protester of which there were plenty.)

anyway i wanted a memento of my first pride, you know, and this one vendor was selling keyrings, and i liked it, so i bought one. do you remember those italian charm bracelets that were all the rage like 10-15 years ago? it was a keychain like that, and it had a rainbow rooster, a rainbow cat, and then just a rainbow, and so I bought it.

i run into my mom a couple of vendors over and she goes oh you bought something? what’d you get? so i showed her, and i was like, “I’m not sure why it’s a rooster and a cat. Seems kind of random. But I liked the rainbows.”

and my mom, who was some form of minister’s wife for most of my childhood and teenagerhood, stares at me like she thinks i’m joking.

“What?” i say.

“…it’s a cock and a pussy, Jules,” she says flatly, and that is the story of how i died at the age of 24 while attending my first pride festival.

Random storytime:

Use to take the bus all the time when I went to community college, usually just wore headphones and zoned out but I had forgotten them this time

The route I was on never had a lot of people, straight up had fewer busses running it because it was so unpopular, often had the entire vehicle to myself minus the driver, but this time there were two other guys. I'm pretty sure they were strangers, started making conversation that I was half listening to due to being bored

They proceeded to have a discussion about how VR was going to revolutionize porn.

Like how it made the entire thing more realistic and fun. Apparently the Japanese were doing some cool things to make it better. That it was the future and was only going to get better and better. Very pro-porn in general

And don't get me wrong, I do think what can be done with this medium is interesting. IDK if it will revolutionize it, it depends on the affordability of the gear and if the culture will popularize/normalize the owning of said gear, if the right people are willing to put in the work needed to create content, if an actual industry can form around it and sustain itself, and probably a lot of other factors that I can't identify. But at least I think there will be some media created for it, some good stuff created by people who enjoy the medium. And there are really interesting discussions you can have around art, technology, and pornography that are fun to have.

But like.. why. are you guys having this discussion. on a public bus. Like I dont think I'm a prude but I also dont think that's appropriate
