Max's post quali interview (translation below)
We got Max in front of the microphone. It's typical for the Nordschleife. Welcome to the Nordschleife. Welcome to the GT3 car. But it was such typical Eifel weather, such a typical Eifel Saturday. A little fog delay, a drying track. Take us with you, how was your first qualifying in the NLS?
Max: It was actually quite good. It went great on the intermediates. The car balance was also great. Of course, there was always a lot of traffic. Finding the best timing here is obviously not easy. Then, of course, at the end, yes, it was a shame about the slicks. My last lap, yes, there was far too much traffic to put in a good lap. But the car is working quite well, the tires are good. So I believe that in the race, it will be fine.
I would have expected you to cross the line two minutes before the end, to drive over again briefly and then make another very, very late lap to attack. You didn't do that, but in the end, as you say, third place on the grid is an incredibly good starting position. Multiclass racing is something you don't experience in your normal racing career. So what's it like suddenly being out on the track with all the other 19 classes? Take us with you. What are your impressions?
Max: Yes, it's different, of course. With different cars, it's obviously very different. And then, of course, just like now, only a dry line, then in different corners. Yes, a bit at the limit, but... It's fun. I like it myself, of course. It was my first time here, and everything actually worked out quite well. Only then, yes, it's a shame about the last lap. But that's part of it.
And that's what I think we all love about you. You drive here for fun, for enjoyment, but you're still disappointed not to be on pole because that was the declared goal. I think you want to win the race today. Can you say that for sure?
Max: Yes, of course. That's obviously...That's the goal in the race now, I think we could do it, but let's see how the race goes.
Then we'll keep our fingers crossed. It's nice to see your mom, whom I still remember from my karting days. So this is a family affair that you're enjoying here. Maybe there'll be a chance to do a lap with your dad in the future?
Max: He won't be doing that himself. There's a rally in Belgium now. I think he'll have a lot more fun there. But that's okay.
Better a bit of loose ground than asphalt. You'll do that then. Max, thank you very much for your time and have fun in the race. See you later.
Max: 👍
