A LOT to unpack here.

To Begin with, If Avery wins the game, he takes you to one of his parties. but this one is special. there's a shit ton of symbolism and it's so hard to break down and honestly I wasn't even able to fit in ALLLLLLL of the screenshots from this one scene its crazy huge. i might do a post later breaking it into pieces so I can do a full lore drop and explanation of it

But basically.

I believe avery is in a freaking CULT. but not just any cult. the cult of the children of AURGIA. the same cult that turned kylars parents into monsters.

we know the church is the faith of virgo i believe? and through sydney, kylar jordan and the higher priest we learn of the schism as well as live through it, via Ivory.

I believe we find out the other half of the story through avery and the adults.

not to say the others arent adults but none of the characters really have "canon" ages.

but what we do know is Avery, kylars parents, possibly bailey, MOST DEFINITELY quinn, and REMY but that one should've been obvious remy is susicpoius as all fuck. are part of this cult.

Sirris, sydney, (sydneys dead parent whose name we dont know) jordan, the priest and kylar (as well as kylars parents in the past) are part of the Faith of Virgo.

at some point kylars parents defected to the children of Aurgia and ended up cursed, leaving kylar to raise himself, but we do know that sydney and kylar were childhood friends and both in the faith because of their parents, which leads me to believe, something tempted kylars parents to the darkside.

im like vibrating with how much lore im cooking up in my brain and i still gotta post the screenshots.

temple/auriga lore dump?

i almost never purge when acting as a confessor in the temple because i find the combat system a little tedious, but i did today for the first time, and got a scene i haven’t seen before.

when purging the penitent, i made them climax, and then was prompted to do it again several more times until i blacked out. (no screenshots of this, sorry, i wasn’t thinking about it.)

then, i was met with this scene:

from then on, i asked the questions in the order they popped up in the dialogue choices, so all the following passages are the responses to the first shown option in the preceding one.

bonus: after i left, and went to the cloister, the six-armed statue was labeled.

i have yet to see what this scene is like with a pure sydney! if anyone has that, i’d be grateful if they could add it to the post; if not, i’ll get it myself and add it here instead. ^^

notably, i know there is dialogue where the ivory wraith calls you gaoler, but i can’t remember the context in which they call you that, so i can’t meaningfully draw connections…

Oh yeah I spent the last like, several hours doing art for this sudden new blog, but my main reason for making this damn account was to talk about IVORY WRAITH!!!!

I like piecing puzzles of context together for funsies (yay brain teasers) and was dealing with Ivory Wraith on a blood moon on an old save of Toffee that has the Island completed / demonic TF.

Stuck in the prison under the lake, I've been parsing through Ivory Wraith's speeches, because they really do mean something! This one in particular is what pushed me to make this account:

Sapphire and brimstone, ey? That seemed rather random. So I googled to see if there was any connotations regarding the two, and I found this:

More specifically this line:

Fire - purging, the temple's tests Sapphire - heaven, divine revelation, Virgo, The Bishop, the Hands Brimstone - Auriga, Holes

But together, Sapphire and Brimstone suggest a divine and fearsome force (player with the Gilded Spear? The Bishop and The Hands? Virgo?) executing judgment.

I can't help but think that whatever we choose- angel, fallen angel, incubus / succubus- might alter how we go about this and that PC will be the one executing judgment. We grabbed the Spear, we're training in combat (though Batons and Whips do nothing atm).

And there are also Ivory Wraith lines regarding us when we're in each of those forms too! And given IW's backstory, I feel like they'll have an integral part too. Or at least I hope so!

I dunno, I just love dissecting and stitching things together, haha. Maybe this has all ready been all talked about, but oh well. Feel free to tell me your thoughts!! I'd love to talk about it.

Things the DOL Temple does in my PC’s universe

- drugs the holy bread with addictive substances so that followers keep coming back (calming effect to give the temple a “holy” and “serene” feel)

- They get these drugs from the hospital, a facade with the hospital’s officials gaining status for “helping” and “donating” to the temple— a shell corporation called “Humanity”

- Those who become addicted to the “holy bread” usually end up in rehab, creating an income/patients for the hospital

- The temple gains more followers through addictive holy bread, garnering in more donations

- The church and the hospital also work a interdependent partnership with the shell corporation— where the hospital staff gain financial perks (profit brought in from donations) from the church and the hospital provides medical care to church staff

- Medical care is especially needed by the temple, from heavily injured initiates working to bring down the game’s hidden status “world’s corruption”

— they also use drugged holy items like spiked candles, holy water, and bread to achieve “highs” that help with divine awakenings. They usually take you to the tentacle plains or bring up bad memories of being assaulted or both

EXTRA:

- one of our PCs, Robbi, is a patient transporter and Nick as a pharmacy tech.

- they work together reporting back both to the church and hospital of new possible patients or initiates—

- as well as working as the drug mules from the hospital to the temple

- Nick closely works with Dr. Harper to fabricate papers of the drugs being smuggled

I want to know why so many people have beef with the Great Hawk. I get why Alex doesn't like them, but why Eden? Sydney has a problem with them too if I remember correctly. What on earth did the bird do to them???

The fact that Whitney absolutely does not want kids but would also probably outrank everyone else in terms of being a parent is so funny.

I also don't trust that Winter's a human still. Maybe he is a human but has been human for a long, long time.

And, just going out on a limb based on them taking over Sydney's Deceased Parents role as head of the church. Who I am assuming was older then them (mid 30s like Sirris if they were alive). *** I am assuming based on Landry referring to them as a "kid". **** Harper is described as "not being older then 25" so puts them early 20s.
