Be more conscious of yourself. Out of all the internet advice out there, books, lectures, and on and on. This seems to be the underlying message. Know your value, know your emotions, know your love, know yourself. But thats where most of it stops. "Just get to know yourself" easily stated but what does it mean..
In my opinion, it's sitting with yourself. Mentally and physically at times. Let yourself feel your emotions fully without trying to gate, block, or runaway from. Don't stop your intrusive thoughts immediately, DON'T ACT ON THEM. But allow your imagination to run a bit. Unfettered. Go for a walk and feel your body. Focus on your legs carrying you, your breaths (are you breathing correctly? It may sound dumb but mouth breathing really does have negative effects. Now is a great time to focus on it) Point is, the way you get to know yourself is the same way you get to know someone else. Listen without interruption. Pay attention without judgement or bias as much as possible. For 10 minutes look at yourself as if you were just another co-worker, as if you were your best friend, as if you were your child. That's how you begin to know yourself. Sit alone and listen.
Extra side note: sometimes I find myself the most when I go to people watch and see all that I am not. If sitting alone is too much try the opposite.
