Spiderbait's second album, Ivy & The Big Apples, is where the band really found their sound. The thrash and alternative elements are still there, but there's this stripped back vibe to it that's hard to emulate outside of a three piece, and there's some real breadth both lyrically and musically that the first album lacked. This is the kind of album where you can see why a band deserves success, and this rightfully pushed them into the spotlight. One of the strongest alt rock records of 1996 so come out of Australia for sure. Highlight tracks include Buy Me A Pony, Calypso, Don't Kill Nipper, Hey, and Driving Up The Ceiling.
