It's really simple to make these cupcakes, but they taste just like old-fashioned donuts. They are great for when you want a donut but in the form of a cupcake.
Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1 1/2 tsp baking powder. 1/4 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg. 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted. 1/2 cup whole milk. 2 large eggs. 1 tsp pure vanilla extract.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon. In another bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean. Let the cupcakes cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. While the cupcakes are cooling, you can make a simple glaze by mixing 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2-3 tablespoons of milk until you get a smooth, thick consistency. Once the cupcakes are completely cool, dip the tops into the glaze to coat them, allowing any excess glaze to drip off. You can optionally sprinkle some colored sprinkles or cinnamon sugar on top of the glaze for added flair. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Old-Fashioned Donut Cupcakes!
