Loki still considered himself male even then. It is important to remember that it was him in Sif's body, so any paring in that form is problematic.

Yes, he did. Loki meant the form to show that he'd changed completely, though of course, it was all a lie, as we find out. I don't think anyone considered Loki female while he was in a female body, really. It weirded people out, sure, but most people still considered him Loki, the evil brother of Thor, etc.

And this is true, the pairing is problematic when Loki is in Sif's body, but the pairing even when Loki is in his own body is problematic because Doom and Loki are by no means similar in personality, goals, etc. My personal opinion about the pairing have been stated before, so I'll just link: x

All that being said, no one actually knew Loki was borrowing Sif's body (Hela aside) until he revealed it to Thor and Thor then rushed to save Sif. I personally think Doom had no idea that the body was stolen and he probably just thought Loki got bored of the female body and returned to his normal, male form after awhile. Doom has confessed that he doesn't understand Loki and I think his gender switcheroo had something to do with that.

Also, one could extrapolate that Doom's interest in Loki's female form (I know it's Sif's body, but at that point no one knew that) goes beyond academic curiosity based off Doom's fantasy of Loki and Emma being chained to his throne:

Mistletoe (Doom/Loki)

Title: Mistletoe

Pairing: Doom/Loki

Author's Notes: Quick drabble for Christmas. I think the title tells you enough, really. Hope you guys enjoy.

The public Christmas festivities were done and every Latverian returned to their respective homes for more private celebrations in front of the hearth.

Together with Boris and his guest, Loki, Doom returned back to the castle, warmed from the generous amounts of wine that had been served during the holiday performances. Speaking more animatedly than usual to his guest, he was completely oblivious to a little festive sprig that hung over the doorway leading to the throne room.

Indeed, no one would dare stop their monarch beneath the mistletoe if they valued their lives, but Loki was not one of Doom's subjects.

Doom stopped mid-sentence when Loki stopped him beneath the archway and it took him a long moment to realise that the god was looking up, staring at the little sprig of green and white.

"Mistletoe?"

"Yes...but Doom did not recall allowing such a thing to be placed--"

"Do you know the Norse myth about mistletoe?"

"Ah." If there was a hint of disappointment in Doom's tone, Loki didn't seem to catch it. He continued staring up at the little sprig of green, with a small, wicked smile upon his thin lips.

"It is my favourite plant, you know."

"If you'd like, I can retrieve it--"

"No need. I need Balder alive for the time being."

"Of course."

"Do you not want to know why it is my favourite plant?"

"Doom knows the tale of the Norse tale of the mistletoe well. You have told it to me before."

"Well, that is part of the reason, but that is not the only reason, Victor."

"Oh?"

"Yes. Well, are you going to ask?"

"...very well. What is the other reason?"

"This." Leaning up, Loki pressed his lips against the mouth of the monarch's mask.

Doom blinked, suddenly glad that he wore a mask as his face heated up for a reason he could not blame on mulled wine. 

When Loki moved back, Doom cleared his throat.

A long, awkward moment passed before Loki turned to continue their walk to Doom's study when metallic digits grasped his waist and pulled him back beneath the doorway. 

A warm, surprised chuckle echoed in the empty throne room, drowning the sound of Doom's mask clattering to the stone floor.
