This is really interesting, actually, knowing that Harley wanted his experiments to be used for more than just basic tasks and reinforces the fact that he really did not fit in with the rest of Playtime Co. at all. Simpler, one-function experiments played it safe and were likely a whole lot cheaper than a bunch of failed trials trying to make a jack-of-all-trades. Yet he still wants to do more than this... maybe this was his way of trying to push his superiors towards allowing him to create more humanlike experiments. His end goal was immortality, after all, and who wants to be immortal in the shape of a Sour Patch Kid who can't do anything but hunt mindlessly?
