Arch Linux - Dusky's DotFiles I'm finally free from MicroSlop !! Thank you Dusky for making such an accessible and beautiful guide/repo. Things have honestly been running much faster and god doesn't it look good? Internet goblins: have you thought of using GNU Stow?

me: needs Perl, which is a pain to install on... well, anything that doesn't have package management. Also, GNU has a problem with wanting to support Windows in general, because RMS has a hard-on with wanting to convert Windows users to GNU/Hurd.

Internet goblins: use this tool! it has no dependencies!

me: it uses bash aliases. it needs bash. that one uses zsh. I'd rather not use zsh.

Internet goblins: use this tool! it's really straightforward and ONLY needs git!

me: ...it's written in POSIX-compliant shell script. I can't use that on Windows 7 without getting either Cygwin or MSYS/MinGW to work, and do you know how painful that is?

Internet goblins: use this tool! this multi-step, multi-page method with dozens of command line prompts and dozens of CLI commands is really simple!

me: ...in what world is any of the former actually related to the latter?

How to delete whitespaces on save in `vim`/`vi`

This code, added to the ~/.vimrc file, will delete all whitespaces on save:

func! DeleteTrailingWS() exe "normal mz" %s/\s\+$//ge exe "normal `z" endfunc autocmd BufWrite * :call DeleteTrailingWS()

Additionally, you can update the BufWrite to make it work for certain file types only, like this:

autocmd BufWrite *.js :call DeleteTrailingWS()
