*wakes up to a new day and stretches as sun hits her face*
Ugh, of course Dad let me over sleep. I wish he’d quit doting on me *sigh*
*Owl nudges her cheek*
Oh, good morning Owl. You probably want some breakfast.
*gets up and sneaks around to the food, hoping to avoid her dad’s notice for a few minutes*
You think we’ll get any letters today, Owl? Maybe then I can get a break from Dad.
*Owl munchies softly on the food, then nudges Cass with his head*
*sigh* You’re right. It’s rude to avoid him, after all I put him through... he is just trying to make up for lost time. He doesn’t have to be so suffocating with it though!
*Owl shoots her a look*
*Cass puts up her hands defensively*
I’m going, I’m going! See?
*walks outside to see her dad getting their breakfast ready*
Hey Dad!
Ishida Ryuuken: the most undercover protective/doting dad!
He’s helped heal his son, restore his powers, healed him again and now he brings him his dinner! Sure it’s because he wants to keep those nurses’ claws off his boy but it’s cute that he makes such an effort to “protect” him (even from non-existent threats), especially when Uryu is so antagonistic toward him most of the time!
I’m sorry, but Orlando Bloom and his son Flynn are WAY too cute not to be on my dash..Oh, what a little cutie Flynn is...and his Daddy so proud of him. It’s enough to give you the giggles. I love it.

• Keeping infant children on a sleep schedule is important for their development and a parent’s sanity. That’s why, if my son is still asleep at 7:30 a.m., I will wake him up. This morning, I was in his room, watching him sleep (like a creep or a doting dad — your pick) for a few moments before waking him. As I did, the kid lifted his head and was smiling. He looked at me with sleepy eyes, smiled a little more and laughed. Now, that is an amazing way to be greeted by anyone, certainly your child. But it’s an even more amazing way to wake up and approach the new day. It’s going to break my heart if ever stops waking up like that.
• Lyft/cab drivers who fart with passengers in the car can be perceived as rude. Lyft/cab drivers who crank the heat and crack a window when they fart is nothing short of awesome.
• The world needs the kind of thoughtful kindness displayed by my Lyft driver who cranked the heat and cracked a window when she farted.
• Self-doubt is a constant season in my life. Most days are mild. Most days, really, I feel OK, pretty good, even. But it’s always there, lurking. I have to be careful not to let it get too close or it’ll pounce. One surefire way to get hammered with a Category 8 self-doubt storm is to be in the final stages of publishing a book. Holy shit.
• My wife has never seen Beetlejuice. We’ll be watching Beetlejuice together very soon and I’m confident it will be a more enjoyable occasion than even our wedding.
• Wouldn’t it be funny if the Google employees who walked out on their jobs in protest this week had to Google how to organize a walk out?
