Day 22: Rhythm
@clownartmonth
there's nothing more amazing than four hour skype conversations with long distance friends
The Greek myth of Icarus... But like a modern or futuristic setting. Go nuts.
For my part Iknow nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes medream. -Vincent van Gogh
Mostof the books he’s read sayspace is silent, and after years spent drifting through a slog ofvacuum and stars, Icarus is inclined to agree. Butatsome point, it must have leaked in through the airlocks because foras long as he can remember, heand his father have orbited each other, proximity pulling themtogether while some other, unnamed charge threatens to pull themapart. And the space that liesbetween them is a yawning expanse of nothing, reflective of the black stretching outfrom their portholes. He’ssurprised he ever learned to speak, given the circumstances.
Hisfather locks himself in his laboratory for days at a time, barelytouching the protein packs Icarus shoves under his door three times asolar. (Itisn’t until he’s balancing on the precipice of adulthood thatIcarus discovers he was crafting the means of theirescape.)Until such time,there is a boy growing into sullen adolescence in silence, withnothing but the bookstheir king and captor so graciously gifted to them before he launchedthem into space and took away the key.
Mostof them are stories of heroes slain by monsters, a taunt from the manwho put them here. Lookwhat happens to people like you who cross people like me. But,at the same time their blood is spilled fromthe sword, their souls are scattered across the stars. Somehow, theyare immortalized forever in the points of light studded across theblack he knows so well.
And,apparently, (impossibly) they sing.
Hedoesn’t quite understand everything thesebooks are saying. Unlike hisfather, the more esoteric ideas ofscience and mathematics slip through his fingers infavor of the bedtime storieshe’s had to tell himself.In these, tale is told time andtime again of the music. Fromwhat he can comprehend from fragmented pages that threaten to crumblebeneath his fingertips, twined in the angles between every star andplanet are harmonies that should be cacophonous given the sheervastness of the cosmos, but come together into rapture instead.
Musicshouldn’t exist within in the vacuum of space; but then again,neither should little boys, and they both are. He wonders if thestars sing of the things they have seen slinging their lightsmillions of lightyears away orballads of the heroes thatswell their ranks, or thingshe can’t imagine after a life imprisoned the SSLabyrinth.
Oneday, with metal wingspowering him into the world he has only ever watched from afar, Icarus will hear the musicof the stars. It will be silenceand foronce in his goddamn life, that silence will be beautiful. Then,he will become a part of it.

Leverage, and/or Doctor Who
Leverage
favorite male character: Alec Hardison!!!favorite female character: Parker least favorite character: i love all of them but i guess Sterling annoys me the most. Or maybe Latimer.prettiest character: all of them are beautiful but if I had to pick either Parker or Hardison. maybe Sophie.funniest character: Elliot 100% i love him.favorite season: season 4. There’s just a pretty good arc and really emotional episodes and the finale is so well done. I just love it so much.favorite episode: I have many, many, many. Most of them are in season 4 but to name a few: the broken wing job, the scheherazade job, the van gogh job, the last dam job, the long way down job to name a few favorite romantic ship: Parkerfavorite family ship: ALL OF THEM is there any other choicefavorite friend ship: ALL OF THEM TOGETHER but also I really like parker and “alice’s friend” whose name i forget. that was a cute dynamic.worst ship: i can’t really think of anything I really hate but i guess if i had pick the worst one i’ve seen was like elliot/nate
Doctor Who
favorite male character: Ninth Doctor. He has such a good arc and he’s such a compelling character. Far and away my favorite doctor. favorite female character: Donna. People who don’t like Donna I don’t trust.least favorite character: RIVER SONG please don’t mention her name in front of meprettiest character: Martha is really pretty and I love herfunniest character: Donna again. Her dynamic with the doctor is perfect.favorite season: tied season 4 and season 1. 4 has a more consistent plot line but season 1 has such a good emotional arc and also Jack Harkness and Nine. favorite episode: Again a tough one. Probably a tie between Midnight and Dalek, which gives me chills every time I watch it. Also I very much like Empty Child and The Doctor Dances. And End of Time. And Boomtown. okay season one might be my favorite. (i also really like Family of Blood and Doctor’s Daughter but they aren’t exactly faves).favorite romantic ship: Rose/Nine and Rose/Ten. I can’t really pick one over the other because they really seem like a natural extension of each other. Also Rose/Nine/Jack holds a special place in my heart.favorite family ship: Also Rose, Nine, and Jack. They work so well together and I ship them both romantically and as family because they balance each other so well. I miss this dynamic.favorite friend ship: I thoroughly enjoy Mick and Rose after they stop dating. It’s so good. Also I very much enjoy the Doctor and Donna’s relationship.worst ship: RIVER SONG/ELEVEN. IT’S GROSS ON SO MANY LEVELS KEEP IT AWAY FROM ME.
