Oh absolutely. Just hopefully after they get a bath, or something.

Naturally, both Shermie and the twins will be wary about going near Dipper or Mabel at first. Shermie because 'holy fucking shit my brothers are snarling and biting' and the twins because they're trying to respect the principle of 'pack leaders get very antsy about you approaching their cubs without permission'. (the mother bear instinct)

But the thing is that a lot of signs and body language for the Doubles are different to humans. Due to their time with the Marirex, for example, they take baring teeth, snapping like you'll bite someone and mouthing more as a sign of interest/curiosity. For everyone else, this is a sign that YOU'RE GONNA BITE THEM YOU'RE GONNA BITE THEM YOU'RE GONNA BITE THEM

I can't imagine a lot of people will immediately appreciate the way they convey affection now, the invasion of personal space or the insistence on being in the room with you whilst you sleep.

These guys have had more feral experience than the average portal Stan or Ford, and they've only been reinforcing one another by being together so that it becomes wayyy more natural to them than to the average feral variant. The other sees no problem with the behaviour, so therefore neither of them do either.

Fortunately, the power of Mabel etc, etc. Ever the good heart and perhaps a little too trusting of others' intentions would probably try and sneak over to see her Grunks anyway and as soon as she realised they mean no harm, is absolutely delighted by how weird they are and how they express affection. She will also convey this to Dipper, who is stuck between being Starstruck about 'THE AUTHOR OF THE JOURNALS' and oh heavens the Author might eat me apparently.

Either way, the twins start routinely breaking into the basement (which is where Shermie decided to... not 'keep' them per se, but also keep them) and enjoying getting to know the grunks (Dipper is constantly trying to work on coaxing them to speak English more so he can ask questions about the journals) whilst Mabel is picking up the feral trait language. She's speaking it badly and incorrectly, but the Grunks would never tell her that and she's trying - which is incredibly endearing to them.

Shermie is not pleased when he finds out, but he's less angry than either of the Doubles expected which tentatively coaxes them to seek out the children at more appropriate times of the day and in the rest of the house too.

Over time things get a bit more calm :))

kacchan finds out. 

The second they were alone, Kacchan slammed Izuku back against the lockers. The locker doors rattled from the force, and Izuku shouted in pain but didn’t fight back. 

Kacchan breathed heavily, hand below Izuku’s throat. 

So this is it. 

Kacchan took a second to search Izuku’s face. He didn’t find what he was looking for and growled. 

“Ba- Bakugou...” 

“What the hell are you up to,” Kacchan said, voice a warning. 

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Izuku said, but he felt tears collect in the corners of his eyes. Kacchan looked like he had a hand at the throat of his greatest enemy—dark triumph, anger and hurt. 

“Explain this,” Kacchan said. He shoved Izuku one more time for good measure, and his back sparked with a wave of pain. Kacchan handed him his phone, and Izuku took it, confused. 

Then he saw what was on the screen. Izuku, hero costume on so he was unmistakable. Just feet away Shigaraki, shock of blue hair, eyes shadowed behind the hand fit on his face. 

Sound burst in Izuku’s ear. Kacchan’s hand, burning from just releasing an explosion, pressed to Izuku’s shoulder. A warning. A warning. A warning that Izuku had better answer before Kacchan did something terrible. 

That was okay, Izuku thought. He deserved it. 

Izuku held the phone back out, lowered his eyes, then said, “Go on, Bakugou.”

“Go on and what.”

Izuku dared to look back up and smiled sadly. 

“Turn me in,” he said. He gestured with a hand, and Kacchan jerked, but Izuku only pointed to the door. “One word and the heroes will come running.”

“What word?”

Izuku laughed. “Villain.”

Kacchan’s face darkened. “You admit it.”

“I thought you might figure it out,” Izuku admitted. He slid down to the cold ground and pulled his knees up to his chest. “You were always the smarter one of us.” 

Kacchan grabbed his shirt and hauled him up. He dragged him forwards, then said, “What the hell does that mean?”

“It means I missed you,” Izuku said quietly. 

“Stop playing games! Stop lying!” 

Izuku snapped. “What do you want from me?” he shouted, shoving back. He broke free of the grip and hit Kacchan. “Get it over with, Bakugou! Turn me in! Let them lock me up and you’ll never have to hear my name again.”

“I want to know why,” Kacchan said, and when Izuku landed another hit he saw a spark of fear light in his friend’s eyes. 

Izuku stopped, backing away, horrified at what he’d done. He hit a bench and fell back, landing hard on the floor. Kacchan stood over him. 

“What is there to know?”

“I want to know you of all people—”

“I didn’t have a choice!” Izuku shouted. 

Kacchan stopped. “You didn’t have a choice,” he repeated. 

“I would’ve come back a long time ago if I had a choice,” Izuku said, and his chest caved and the tears started. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”

Kacchan’s brows furrowed. Izuku closed his eyes so he wouldn’t have to see Kacchan’s face, then opened them because he thought Kacchan deserved it. 

“Five years ago my father took me away from everything I had ever known,” Izuku said, “and then he made me a villain, and I stopped trying, and I’m sorry.”

His voice broke. Kacchan was staring at him like he’d never seen him before—but he had, many, many times. 

“I’m sorry I stopped trying, Kacchan.”

Kacchan looked at Izuku. A childhood friend looked back. 

“It’s—” Kacchan started, then faltered. He was taking in Izuku, looking at his face, his dark eyes. Izuku took out an old photo and handed it over. 

Kacchan looked at it, and the corner crumpled when he gripped it too tightly. 

“It’s—” he said, like he couldn’t dare to hope, “it’s really you?”

Izuku smiled, but it hurt. “Yeah.” 

Kacchan touched his ribs like he couldn’t breathe, like he couldn’t believe, and said, “What the hell— you— he... you know what that did to us?”

“Us,” Izuku repeated hollowly. 

“Did you forget about your fucking mom?”

“Kacchan,” Izuku pleaded. A wordless noise left his mouth. His friend dropped to his knees, reaching out, and Izuku took his hand. “I’m sorry I left. I didn’t want to.”

The next second he was pressing his face into Kacchan’s shoulder, crying. Or maybe it was the other way around, and he could feel Kacchan shaking under his touch. 

“Don’t do it again,” Kacchan said in his ear. His hand tightened, the back of Izuku’s shirt gathering in his fingers. “Don’t you dare do it again.”

Character A has disappeared; when they come back to their friends, they’re surprised to find out that they’ve somehow been replaced by a doppelgänger, Character B.

Character B has been suspecting that there’s something wrong with them for quite a while. They’ve had a hard time relating to their friends as well as a harder time remembering thing, and have felt more on edge lately. That’s when Character A shows up.

Just randomly remembered about the existence of the M dimension

How would, well, any interdimensional traveling ford/stan of your choice react to it (GoGs Stan and/or ford, and the double ferals for example)

Double ferals looking at the M shaped everything, hear “mave a mice may!” And just stare at each other and think “we need to retreat back into the woods”

GoGs Ford isn’t even upset like usual when everyone runs away screaming from him because he’s too busy staring at everything dumbfounded like “what. What. What. why does this dimension exist. Just. Why”

M shaped followers lining up to give GoGs Stan M shaped offerings of food and treasure and Stan just internally going “don’t laugh. Don’t laugh. Don’t laugh”

JHDFJAHDSGDSFJ I choose to respond to this as all of the above but briefly:

The Doubles: M is for Maim. (They hate it here and anything that gets too close gets ripped apart by teeth)

GoG Ford: A Deity with the literal power centred around changing things. Yeah, I mean. He probably doesn't have the immediate M for Motive but if he did he could hypothetically un-M his surroundings at will. For me this is the funniest possibility. "Fuck you," *un-Ms your dimension* Realistically he's just politely confused and maybe perturbed before quickly leaving.

GoG Stan: your read on him is entirely correct I fear. He thinks this shit is hilarious and it's been a LOOONG time since he's had a good laugh. There are tears in his eyes. He's physically shaking. He has to be a good god he has to be a good god he has to be a good god he has to--

Mirrorwalker: MW Ford has a uniquely negative relationship with the letter M, as M is for Mirrors and Mary. And Making bad deals you can't undo. He seethes every time he has to go through the M dimension. Sometimes Mary sends him there just to watch his M for Misery and Murderous intent. If you don't want him to pursue your bounty, truly there are few better places to hide. Unfortunately, Most Fords would frankly rather fight off an angry Bloodhound than hide out in the M dimension.

It occurs to me I have very few multiverse walkers actually. I'll need to amend this somehow.

No idea how/when to incorporate it but then again 90% of my writing process is done on the fly.

Concept: the Doubles can understand him just fine due to their feralspeak. He's actually one of the most reasonable and polite creatures they've encountered on their journeys.

What would GoGs Stan think of the double Stans?

HOOOOOOOO I like this one.

See. In a sense in a way. Double Stans are kind of the ideal multiversal duo. Like, yes okay, they’re feral, violently codependent and highly mutated; but their relationship, for Stan and Ford’s of their age, is exceptional.

And the thing is is that. Most twins in the multiverse only really want that. Plus, they use their feralness in conjunction with that closeness. Neither of them would’ve ended up as animalistic as they did if it wasn’t for the other being there, because that closeness facilitated that and vice versa.

The GoGs do not have that level of closeness, nor of sheer unwavering faith between the two of them. One must imagine the deities jealous of the two filthy, half torn up and animalistic versions of themselves. What good is it being a god if you can never really connect with anyone?

Like okay yeah it’s kinda unsettling to see a version of yourself who barely remembers how to speak English half the time anymore and like. Their standards for how they keep themselves could be improved. But they’re constantly with one another and looking out for one another and they’re able to be very openly affectionate with one another.

That’s not to mention they’re also VERY efficient multiversal survivors. They rely on each other in a way that makes them stronger together than the sum of their individual strengths. And being feral does not stop them being smart - if anything they’re smarter than a lot of Portal Stans and Ford’s because they learned together and taught each other and then adapted. Ford technically studied under one of the most prestigious universities in the multiverse like this despite… the demeaning way in which it came about.

But the fact that neither of them have died yet is a testament to how resilient they work because I would argue they’ve gone through an above average number of multiverse life threatening situations (to be addressed in future chapters).

For GoG Ford it’s sort of like. Man. This version of Ford made good with his Stan and Bill still followed and tormented them / he still found a way to cause problems for Stan. GoG Stan is like man this version of me was able to bond with Ford but only when they were both so desperate to company that they went feral :/ but that’s the instinctive negative self talk part.

Both Doubles would absolutely fight the GoGs if they were provoked they do not care that it’s god. They will fight god together and maybe win.

Then again, Double Ford would be intrigued as well because he hasn’t really encountered any other variants of himself so perhaps less of an inclination to aggression… unless he learns that he’s linked to Bill, then all bets are off the table. Double Stan may be more lenient/understanding on that front - partly because he’s got less direct Bill experience and also like he’s seen what Bill does to Ford. He’s willing to actually ask WHY at least.

GoG Stan technically had the power to turn the Doubles back to how they used to be but. He wouldn’t if they didn’t want him to. And I don’t think they would. I genuinely don’t think they long to be human - they got fangs and new languages and went this is sick actually. This opinion may change if/when they’re in their own post canon dimension retirement, but for the time being it rocks and being a soft and weak human is not for them.

So it’s sort of like. Huh these guys are kinda the ideal Stan and Ford’s but also like. You look at them and it’s kinda uncomfortable in the way I imagine young Fiddleford would feel looking at old Fiddleford lmao. Like. Huh well something clearly happened here and. I. Socially this is dubious for me.
