Raph! Raph! Raph!

Alrighty so I came up with the art concept of dm Raph and @adrifyadrift came up with the story for dm Raph!

Base story:

So he went out with Casey (Cassandra) doing vigilante stuff (does his brothers know? maybe, maybe not)

This takes place well after s2 finale when the leader job is off his shoulders and he has more free time (fights with leo aren't that bad yet).

So he gets bit with an oozesquito, then he freaks out like how could he not?? He's growing bigger and more terrifying but Casey's on the side was like "YOO THIS IS COOL AF??"

So it took him a couple of days hiding at Casey's place (he's overthinking how to break the news to everyone), all the while there's been rumors about this new vigilante that looks like a beetle/turtle hybrid, and the guys started investigating but RAPH'S STILL NOT HOME.

So they turned to Casey. She refused to spill. The others started pestering her and April kept banging her doors and Mikey's bringing out Dr. Delicate Touch and Donnie's threatening to bring out his drill from beta and Leo is messing around with his portals (travelling to everywhere and nowhere to search for even a glimpse of that red tail mask)

it wasn't a pretty scene. Casey's apartment door busted and lo and behold their Big Red is right there.

A couple things to note:

This Raph is terrified of bugs

DM Raph and DM Mikey aus are both separate.

I haven’t come up with name for this au yet 😔(welcome to suggestions!)

If I Lead Would You Follow AU

A curse? A double mutation? They're not sure, but one thing's certain; They can no longer stay.

In search of a cure for Raph's whole situation, they will need to adapt to yokai culture.

This idea has been bouncing inside my skull for a few weeks, happy to be properly sharing this!

I love Adventures in Turtlesitting and Good Genes, and don't get me wrong, it's great that Don was the one who got douple mutated for a multitude of reasons.

(Obviously, that he is the smart guy, and now the team had to find out what to about this science problem without their science guy. But also, because he's usually the most calm, so seeing him as a beast is a huge contrast. It also showcasts perfectly what kind of turtle he is, especially before his transformation (not letting his "cold" stop him from going to the museum or only giving in on not helping his brothers after he vomitted in the Battleshell etc).)

HOWEVER, just entertain the thought of that happening to someone else. Imagine, just a few weeks after he went back from Japan, where he learned how to control his anger and how he, again, can be the brother and leader he wanted to be, just after that, Leo transformed into a beast, which can't control itself at all.

OR, and I think I slightly prefer this, imagine Raph got stung. I imagine that before the transformation, during the time the infection was just noticable as an illness, Raph (because him being sick annoyes him very much) is very easily agitated and lashes out frequently. Which, in turn, is also irritating because he doesn't want to hurt them.

And suddenly, he can't control himself. Like at all. Suddenly, he really is a monster who can't control his anger and seriously hurts his brothers. (And we've seen that Don had a little recognition when he was double mutated. He did loosen his grip on Mikey's leg (I think))

The "aftermath" of that could have been great, too! Especially, because Leo has just been through something (mildly) similar and can teach his brother that he couldn't have done anything, so he should let it go. The same would go for the original with Don being double mutated, but well.

ALSO, Don not being douple mutated had one more very interesting thing: Don and Leatherhead had been working on a cure before. They probably wouldn't be able to finish it before the double mutated brother died, tho. That would have put them in an interesting situation I think. Picture this:

Don + LH working in Don's lab

Mikey: erm... Don? LH?

Don: Mikey, we're kinda busy??! You know, working on the cure for Raph

Mikey: I know, it's just... He's acting weird. Not like "garrrr" weird, more like... he's sick?

Don: What? We've never seen anyone infected who looked sick? We should check it out.

A scan or something later

Leo: So, Don?

Mikey: Yeah, what is now with him?

Don *whispering, more to himself than anyone*: he... he's dying...

Basically everyone in the room: What?!

Don: His cells are breaking down, fast!

Mikey: But the cure is going to take care of that... right?

LH: The cure would stop the way the different mutations act with each other and therefore stop cells from breaking down. The cells then could regrow, but-

Don: We won't be fast enough developing the cure, we need to find another way

Also, I'm sure having other character go through the mutation from the outbreak could be great, too. But I think Raph would be the most interesting

Maybe I'm gonna write a fanfic about this
