My Tentative Fall ‘18 Schedule!

Hi, friends! Since the first day of classes is rapidly approaching(!!!), I thought I’d share with you my tentitive schedule for the coming semester! 

Each of these is a 4 credit class, so I am planning to try taking 20 credits this semester because there happen to be five classes that I really want to/have to take! I took 16 credits during my first two semesters at Smith, but I’m feeling up to the challenge of a slightly heavier course load, and I feel confident about it because the classes are so evenly distributed through the week. I’m looking forward to really delving into classes in both of my majors this semester and have really been looking forward to taking some of these classes.

One thing you may notice is that I’m a Sociology major but taking SOC 101 this semester! This is simply because of how my classes worked out when I transfered––I had enough of a background in Sociology from a SOC class that I had taken prior to coming to Smith at my previous college to start taking higher level SOC classes, but the chair of the Sociology department here suggested to me when I met with her that I take 101 at some point if I do decide to major in Sociology. Even though SOC 101 may be some repeat information for me, I’m expecting that it will have an amazing selection of readings and am very excited about that aspect of it.  I’m also taking 101 with a professor new to Smith, so I’m looking forward to getting to know him. 

I’ll keep y’all posted on how taking 20 credits goes! The great thing about Smith is that you have until two weeks into the semester (September 19th, this year) to drop a course without using a free drop, so I’ll have time to figure out if this feels manageable for me.

Finally finished my degree(s) and I’m happy too.. 4 out 5 five classes I hated.
