Yes, let the man rest!! He’s likely exhausted. Lestat isn’t an easy role. He’s learnt French and multiple instruments, bulked up, probably half-starved and been a little out of his comfort zone for a while. His nervous system has probably been out of whack for a while. However, I think a lot of the fandom can jump to conclusions which is normal when we feel worried. I don’t think he’s hanging up his lestat cloak yet.
Yes, the PR machine is doing something weird and it feels off. I’m side eyeing a lot and I am NOT enjoying it. The hetero push, the queer erasure almost. The picket fence home? The bromance? Big side eye.
Yes, there’s some things in the season that I dislike. Notably Gabriella. It makes me uncomfortable. It’s supposed to be uncomfortable, obviously. But I’m not sure if there’s also an element of the writing and acting that’s not hitting for me with her. I feel so much for Lestat and I find his story heartbreaking. However, sometimes I almost feel like I should find it more heartbreaking. I don’t know if that’s a narrative choice because he’s withholding.
I’m disgruntled. As a fan of show and actors, I’m disappointed not in the show but more the press side of things. I think show related press could have come out before and during airing and all the personal life agenda could have come out after. It’s been a weird one.
I’ve been thinking this over. Remember how I said to wait because more information will come to clarify the timing of announcements? Clearly, the timing of everything is to hype up the plays as well… they almost piggybacked.
As for Gabriella, I think she is coming off like I expected Akasha to, as a sexy monster. But she’s not just a killer, she’s a succubus. 😭 I don’t think I expected this. I’m not sure that is Jen’s fault, per se. But so far…. there is NOTHING redeeming about her. Now I hear we get Gabilou this week!
