I’m Back! Outlander Film Locations & Scottish Magic ✨
I’m back from Scotland! As promised, I’ll be publishing new chapters of my fan fiction today. But first, I wanted to give you a quick update on my trip.
It was absolutely wonderful—a total dream come true. I kept thinking, "I can't believe I'm actually here." On the journey back, I literally had tears in my eyes. I loved every single thing about it: the rain, the food, the people, and the landscapes. I'm already planning to go back sooner or later!
I really wanted to share the Outlander filming locations I visited with you. But first, look what was right there in the lobby of my Edinburgh hotel... the Outlander book itself!

2. Lallybroch! (Midhope Castle) — Of course, this was my absolute favorite part. I even picked up a few souvenirs!
3. Blackness Castle (Fort William) — This one really blew me away. It's right by the sea, and since it was low tide, it looked stunning.
4. Linlithgow Palace (Wentworth Prison).
5. Doune Castle (Castle Leoch).
6. Culross Village — Where you can visit the palace, Geillis’s house, Claire’s herb garden, and even the pub where Sam and Cait stayed. It’s such an enchanting village; I completely fell in love with it. I definitely want to go back because spending just one day there wasn't enough.
7. Falkland — Another gorgeous village! It features the B&B where Claire and Frank stayed, as well as the famous fountain from the ghost scene. It started raining while we were there, but that only enhanced the atmosphere. After all, it was raining during Jamie's ghost scene too, so getting to touch the fountain felt absolutely thrilling!
8. The National Gallery of Scotland — I also visited the museum, which has a section dedicated to the Jacobites and Culloden. There, you can find portraits of Bonnie Prince Charlie and Flora MacDonald, as well as the painting of Lady Agnes that Sam himself loves so much.
9. University of Glasgow — We also visited the stunning University of Glasgow! In Outlander, its main campus and iconic Cloisters were used as a stand-in for Harvard University, where Frank works as a professor and where Brianna and Roger walk together. And as a huge Harry Potter fan, walking through those gothic arches felt like stepping straight into a fairytale!
