Overall the show is visually pleasing (aside from some styling choices). The cast is strong and very talented. The music is excellent. There's a lot of characters being introduced but that's typical of anything Tolkien related. Thanks for getting this far! I'll continue episodes 5-8 in a separate post ✨🩷

These dwarves (aside from Dori, and maybe Bombur and Balin) don't give a shit about Bilbo! Baby those are not your friends. The pacing is so quick we don't really get to see them bond.

Why do the goblins look like they're straight out of Where The Wild Things Are?

Bilbo and Thorin make up on Thorin's deathbed 😭 (probably the most emotional part tbh).

Final Thoughts: I would play this movie in the background on a very lazy Saturday Morning. I haven't read the book yet but I feel like so much was left out. I made sure to leave comparisons to the live adaptations at the door. With that out of the way the movie felt incredibly rushed and weirdly paced. If you squint hard enough you can see the charm the movie was going for. 3.5/10.

I always wondered just what in the hell Fili and Kili were doing when those two ponies went missing?? I KNOW damn well those trolls didn't just sneak up on them when they're built like Buicks and boulders. Did the ponies get lured away? Did they wonder off? They were literally 12 feet away from them. How did the Durin boys not see two ponies leave?? Why would Thorin put their childish asses in charge of the ponies??? Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z or whatever I guess.. 😑

The Rings of Power S1 EP5 Thoughts ✨

Okay soo I was planning to do a condensed post of my thoughts for episodes 5-8 like I did for episodes 1-4, but oh boy that was not the case. These next four episodes kick the plot into high gear, so they get their own post. I have many thoughts/observations.

Ships are symbolic of journeys, transformations, life and death. The paring of certain characters onboard represents how intertwined their journeys will be over the course of the Rings of Power. Many of the pairings (and trios) represent yin/yang, the past present and future and destruction/renewal. Idk I might write something about this later.

It's interesting that Galadriel and Halbrand are on a ship and they are shipped together in the fandom.

Someone is def not coming back alive or they're coming back changed.
