“and you expect me to believe that? what, do you seriously think I was born yesterday with these youthful good looks?” he clicks his tongue, the roof of his mouth dry and his lips chapped. the bitter early spring wind is playing havoc with his skin and the stiff joints of his fingers. he stretches out his arms at his sides, clenches his hands into fists to try and fight away some of the evening’s chill. he doesn’t trust doyoung one bit and he certainly doesn’t trust his baseless, unconvincing words. wonwoo isn’t one to fear for his safety and he doesn’t, but he isn’t one for unnecessary conflict and trouble either — at least, not anymore. 

perhaps it’s best if he keeps the thought to himself but the other has an expression wonwoo just can’t trust. he can’t put his finger on it; maybe it’s the deceitful narrow of his eyes or the slope of his nose, but it chases a shiver down his spine. “whatever it is you think you know, or maybe you do know, remember that it’s useless trying to use any of it against me. I might not be an open book all the time, I may have secrets like everyone else, but I also don’t have a lot of patience. this isn’t strictly a threat, but… maybe you could consider it a warning? whatever floats your boat.”

it hardly matters that it’s been three weeks since the events at the daengom, not to the people who experienced it. to him, the loud bang of the library doors is merely an irritation to his ears, a scowl forming on his features directed sternly at the profusely apologising new arrival as they advance to the reception. to a small group of twenty-somethings in the lobby, it’s enough to start one of them crying— and for the rest, heavy breathing at the very least. 

he’s no stranger to trauma, not unfamiliar with even the more temporary avoidance of certain situations after incidents like this one. ( it had taken him a while after almost losing mingyu in the aquarium to feel comfortable with baths, let alone swimming. not that he’s much into swimming regardless, though; it’s all exercise and it’s all not for him. ) a small — but growing nonetheless — part of him wants to ask if they’re okay but an employee heads over before he can. it’s probably for the best; he might be well-spoken most of the time but his expression scarcely matches his words. instead, he grabs another staff member on their way past, asks with a careful, quiet voice, “hey, uh, doyoung,” he reads from the man’s name tag, “do you think you could put a doorstop or wedge on that door to stop it slamming? everyone’s a bit on edge at the moment.” he probably doesn’t need to say it but people always surprise him. “I think I speak for everyone when I say I’d rather be a little cold than scared shitless. I mean, I wasn’t there at the incident but I think that’s probably a fair assumption to make, especially judging by those poor kids over there. were you there, or know anyone that was? it must have been terrifying.”

“Well” Min begins, quickly throwing a glance in the direction of the male, he’s unsure to how they entered the room, as to why they’re here, why they said what they said, but he doesn’t let himself think about anything too much, he’s in a hurry, he really has to get away. In a swift motion he pulls his own shirt over his head and throws it at the bed “well I don’t really want you to know anything” Min ends of with, turning to the male to reveal his body, his face, and then he reaches out to the bed to take his clean shirt. “I got a lot of questions for you, and I’m sure you got a lot of questions for me too” the male tries his best to get eye contact with the other, he’s well aware that exposing his face so much to the other might not be the best idea, but since when has Min begun caring for such things? There goes a second, and then Min has a shirt on again, now a clean one, he reaches out for the dirty one, the one splattered with blood and puts the shirt down into his bag, before taking out a picture of Daniel Craig like always, leaving his print behind.

He turns around, raises a hand to his hair and removes it from his ear to reveal his tattoo “I’m 007, that’s enough knowledge for you I think” he turns around again, gives the male a smile and a small chuckle, they still don’t know what’s going on, do they? Min shakes his head, not like he cares anyways. He throws his bag around his shoulder before beginning to walk, only stops to clap the other’s shoulder and lean slightly closer to them to whisper something to them “there’s a dead body in the bathroom by the way, just so you know”

“What”, he simply responds, for a second speechless. Are you alright? How long has it been since somebody asked him that question, since somebody cared for him? Miteum knows his parents care for him, that they love him, however they also don’t know about him being in a gang, they actually know close to nothing about him. And besides Miteum’s parents? Then does he really have anybody who cares for him? Not even himself, he probably doesn't even himself care about himself, he does stuff that his body definitely cannot handle. He's not obsessive over sex, he never has been, he's just a prostitute because he's too weak to be anything else, and being a prostitute perhaps wouldn't be that bad if he didn’t have to overwork himself so much. It's no secret, but he's a really popular prostitute, whether it's due to his skills, his looks or because he's blind he doesn't know, maybe it's a combination of all, but honestly? He probably doesn't want to know.

Miteum doesn't even ask himself if he's alright, but this dude did? Miteum knows it not like the other male cares though, they saw all his hickeys asking where they came from and then procceded with asking if he was alright, did his hickeys look violent? Miteum wouldn't know. He can't even see them. He grabs his neck, and then begins rubbing it slightly "they're just hickeys dude, I don't know why'd you ask me if I'm alright". Just hickeys, just hickeys from old women and men who basically pay to put these hickeys on his body, pay to own his body for a second or two, without really caring about him, they probably all see him as an object. Weirdos, Miteum can't really do anything but call them weirdos in his mind, that's what he can do.

is your muse compassionate?

no. he has his moments, but they’re rare. if he grew up differently, this would probably not be the case. his lack of empathy is a lot more nurture than it is nature, and in a world where he didn’t idolize all of the wrong people, he would’ve been someone that cared. instead, however, he was born into a family obsessed with status and two cruel older brothers, and his own deep-seated desire to please. he was conformed to fit them, and even when he no longer fit with his family, it wasn’t because of empathy. it was because of rebellion, and his own personal quest for strength, and compassion was never part of that equation. he doesn’t exactly see caring about others’ feelings as a weakness, he just thinks it’s pointless. he cares more about people he likes that he thinks, though, and sometimes that nature and potential to be better than he turned out to be shines through.

oh, man, you’re going to make me think about whether i’m a good person or not? is that even possible in myeongcho? nah, i’ve seen good people in myeongcho. it’s kinda pathetic. they always die. it’s kinda funny...it’s like i’ve adapted to survive even though i don’t want to. i don’t know how to reverse it, either. ruined for life.

jihoon feels like an idiot. when spencer challenged him to a race to see who could get through the carnival’s house of mirrors first, jihoon thought it would be easy. he certainly thought he would beat spencer, at the very least. something about him made jihoon doubt his sense of direction, and yet...here jihoon is, still stuck inside.

his memory picked an inconvenient time to fail him, always having to retrace his steps to recall where he’s been and where he hasn’t, because it all looks the same. he also hasn’t run into spencer once this entire time, and it makes jihoon uneasy, not just because he’ll probably never hear the end of it if spencer got through before him, but because this is myeongcho and anything could happen.

he stops dead in his tracks once he reaches an intersection of several paths, and he recalls the ones he’s already taken. knowing his luck in recent days, the way out will be the last option he ever tries. he thinks he’s taken all of the turns he could down each apparent dead end. now he just has to figure out which ways he hasn’t gone down yet.

soon, someone appears, turning back from one of the paths. “no luck that way?” jihoon asks, small smile playing on his face.
