Sometimes I randomly remember that Rockwell (the mutant psychic monkey who’s apart of Mighty Mutanimals team) used to be friends with the Rat King. Also Rat King is the reason Rockwell became a mutant in the first place.

Just a random fact that really holds no true ground breaking value, but still interesting when you think about it.

My Mutanimals Headcanons

Title says it all, since canon barely gave us any info on the Mutanimals and their interests I'll just have to do it myself

Mondo Gecko:

Type of guy to constantly complain that he was “born in the wrong generation”

This is because he looked up to his dad a lot growing up, and his dad has a lot of nostalgia for the late 80’s early 90’s music scene

His family before he mutated was actually pretty wealthy due to generational wealth

Due to his family’s wealth, he was able to afford to go to tons of concerts, talking about like at least 3 every single month

Super into music and has immaculate taste. He’s mainly into Alternative Rock, Metal, Punk / Emo Adjacent, and Indie Rock

Growing up, he didn’t really have very many “genuine friends”

Considers Mikey his best friend, kind of insecure about this though because he feels like Mikey is closer with Leatherhead than himself

Tries to make friends through bonding over music taste, this is why in “Mutant Gangland” he’s trying to fix the radio in the Party Wagon

It takes a while before Casey is able to fully trust Mondo again after what happens in “Meet Mondo Gecko” but after some time they are able to establish a friendship again and bond over their similar music taste

He also is able to successfully bond with Raph over, again, similar music taste, but that friendship takes a bit longer to form. Mainly because Raph has the assumption that Mondo is annoying like Pigeon Pete

Post-canon, Mondo finds it easy to interact with Mikey, Raph, and Donnie, but not so much Leo. He hasn’t found anything to bond with Leo over yet

Slash:

After “Slash and Destroy”, his mutation has caused him to forget a lot of his previous life as Raph’s pet. He doesn’t tell Raph this though, because he figures it will likely hurt Raph

He can eat so much food. Like way more than even Mikey can

Huge fan of Medieval literature. Gets his initial interest from Raph, who has an interest in Medieval history as well. This is why Raph had a Morning Star Mace (a Medieval weapon) in his weapon closet 

Borrows history books from Donnie’s collection sometimes 

His favorite movie is the Princess Bride

Secretly a huge sucker for Medieval romance novels

Part of him wants to stop hiding in the shadows and become a public advocate mutant rights, but he knows doing this might backfire and put him and all of his friends at risk

Actually pretty smart and likes to be Rockwell’s lab assistant

Leatherhead

Will eat literally anything, as long as it’s edible. Not picky in the least bit

Takes meds for his PTSD that Dr. Rockwell creates for him, which is why he’s much calmer in seasons 3 going forward

Huge fan of jazz music, dabbles a bit in rap as well since it’s Mikey’s favorite genre

Loves stuffed animals and anything that's soft

He wishes that his mutant form wasn’t so large and threatening

Becomes close friends with Karai while Karai is staying with the Mutanimals in season four, they like to train and spar together

In his free time, he enjoys writing short stories and poetry, it helps him to relax and sort through his emotions

Dreams of writing a full novel one day, but he’s a bit busy protecting New York 

Hosts “Therapy Through Creation Nights” at the Mutanimal’s lair where he dims the lights, plays jazz music softly, and lays out materials to write or create art. He invites all of their friends

Wishes he was good at art like Casey and Raph, but alas his alligator hands aren’t steady at all

He also loves cooking and likes to visit the turtle’s lair to cook stuff with Mikey

Becomes close friends with April post-canon. She even lets his style her hair 

Dr. Rockwell

Makes really cool shit for the Mutanimal’s lair

I’m talking like the whole lair has a speaker system so they can blast music really loud

They also have a robot nano cleaning system so they don’t have to clean the lair themselves

Installs all sorts of cool lighting so they can change the lights to fit the mood

There’s a reason why the turtles get so excited to go visit the Mutanimals

Oldest member of the Mighty Mutanimals

The reason he’s so hostile with Donnie and constantly comparing their brains is because he’s actually really insecure about his abilities. He’s never truly felt proud of himself or his accomplishments

Being a mutant has only lowered his self esteem even further

Incredibly sassy

Close friends with Shinigami, they gossip about everyone and everything together

Since his mutation, he’s super susceptible to motion sickness and has to sit in the front seat of vehicles or else he’ll puke

 Although he can use his psychic powers to read people’s minds, he doesn’t do this often because he views it as an invasion of privacy

Mona Lisa

Is aware that Mondo Gecko has a huge crush on her, chooses to ignore it

Becomes sparring buddies with Leatherhead

Salamandrians can regrow limbs

She’s also an excellent swimmer

She can also predict the weather using her skin receptors, like most species of salamanders can

Huge enjoyer of jewelry, doesn’t wear any though since she’s always prepared for battle

Has been part of the salamandrian army since she was 15 years old

Became Lieutenant of the Salamandrian Air Troops by the time she was 16

In season four, she’s actually only 17 years old (I think this makes sense since uh, y’know she flirts with Raph and all. Unrelated but I head canon the turtles are also 16-17 during season 4)

She began training to be a warrior by the time she was seven years old, which is common in Salamandria

She’s actually not a fan of heavy metal or rock and roll, much to Raph’s disappointment

Cannot digest any foods with dairy, like at all. She learns that the hard way when Raph has her try pizza

This is a pretty common headcanon I think but I think she’d enjoy Space Heroes

She’s also well educated, specifically in engineering, so she helps Donnie in the lab with some of his engineering projects sometimes

Day 22: Mighty Mutanimals

What are some things in the story that would be different if slash didn’t die?

The Mutanimals would still be a team…

Rockwell and Pete wouldn’t be missing. Leatherhead would still be able to walk and help fight the good fight. Mona would still have the team who accepted her when she relocated to Earth and wouldn’t feel so alone. (she values her friendship with Terri, but still she misses how things were.) Muckman wouldn’t be hiding away in The Slums with the other Feral Mutants down there.

And Mondo would still have them as a family.

But it wouldn’t have been ALL good.

After Casey, Leo, and Mikey were captured and sold, The Mutanimals would have helped search for them, leading to Raph avoiding his whole “Mercenary” Arc. Leo and Casey would have been saved sooner…

But with Mikey it would’ve been different. After all he was pretty unrecognizable after what happened, and his powers? The Mutanimals would suddenly be a lot more wary around him and start to drift away from the Turtles because of that. Dr. Rockwell would especially have argued Mikey was now too unstable and dangerous, leading to the Turtles snapping back at him and the Mutanimals that agreed with the chimp that they didn’t know what they were talking about and that was their little brother. Then shit would have REALLY hit the fan and the Mutanimal team would have started to tear each other apart from what to do about this young turtle who once loved pizza and parties…but now was an emotionless entity with unpredictable powers and little hesitation to kill people.

In the end, the story would have led to the Mutanimals and the Turtles severing their alliance and the relationship being strained at best. Mona would eventually choose Raph over her team and leave the team, along with Leatherhead, (because cmon, there’s no way Leatherhead would tolerate his teammates treating Mikey like a monster like how he had been treated by others.) but with Mondo it would definitely be more of a challenging scenario for him. Mikey is his best friend who saved his life, but what he saw about Mikey’s powers were true, and he deeply trusts Slash and what he has to say, so who knows how that would go…

I drew Mon-key. @mutanimals-biggest-fan have a Happy Rockwell

I actually really love this drawing it’s just so clean and he’s actually really cute in it, I just love it so much.

I just really love how the first two came out they look so nice. not to mention their the first two Good drawings I’ve had in weeks. And apparently I do enjoy drawing this monkey. . . Grate. Also I did the third one just so I could draw his Hair without the helmet on I like how it flips out from underneath, I figured if he had a haircut it’d be short to medium length and pushed/slicked back. And he is floating coffee over to him, he hasn’t slept. . . Thats it. he doesn’t sleep. Ever (/unless you nock him out or drug him)
