Ninjago Season Soundtrack Tournament: Round 3a
Which of these seasons has the best soundtrack?
Season 5: Possession
Season 7: Hands of Time
Ninjago Dragons Rising - Season 1
For those who haven't seen my first post, the rules of this vote are here, but TL;DR: vote for the season with your favorite soundtrack. The season itself is irrelevant, just the music playing during the events of the season. Today, the challengers are:
Season 5: Possession
Possession scored an another easy victory in Round 2, beating both Season 1 with over 75% of the vote.
Morro's theme comes from Possession, a haunting tune that encapsulates the creepiness of the ghost from Wu's past. This includes the track "Ghost Story" which plays as Wu explains who Morro is. Possession also gives us multiple tracks for Nya, including "Nya's True Potential," a triumphant theme that plays as she (fittingly) unlocks her True Potential. Possession's soundtrack includes lots of string instruments, creating a foreboding feeling of dread across this haunting season.
Season 7: Hands of Time
Hands of Time couldn't quite score a definitive victory in Round 2, tying with DRS1 with 35% of the vote each, though both beat S4. That means both will advance to Round 3, though it will be facing DRS1 yet again. Will people who liked DRS1 vote for S5 now, or people who liked S4 now vote for S7 -- either of which give S7 a chance to sneak through?
This might not be a perfect season, but its soundtrack doesn't disappoint. Notably, the tracks accompanying the Hands of Time often include the sounds of ticking clocks, such as in "Acronix Meets the Ninja" and "Hands of Time Reunited," which both play in the season premiere. This season also introduces the Kai and Nya Family Theme, which is incorporated in tracks like "The Fusion Dragon" (used for the Fusion Dragon) and "Kai vs Dad" (when Kai and Nya reunite with their parents.
Dragons Rising - Season 1
DRS1 couldn't quite score a definitive victory in Round 2, tying with S7 with 35% of the vote each, though both beat S4. That means both will advance to Round 3, though it will be facing S7 yet again. Will people who liked S7 vote for S5 now, or people who liked S4 now vote for DRS1 -- either of which give DRS1 a chance to sneak through?
Dragons Rising is a whole new show, and with that comes a lot of new music. The Merge and Mergequakes get music, along with Arin and Sora (as shown in the track "Exploring the Crossroads"), Ras and the Claws of Imperium, and the show as a whole with a new main theme. Many of these themes are used again in Dragons Rising's later seasons, much like how the music introduced in the Pilots and Season 1 ended up setting the tone for the rest of Ninjago's musical choices. "Euphrasia's Destiny," "Master of Hope," and "The First Source Dragon" are all stellar additions to Ninjago's musical canon, with the first two serving as excellent hype builders, while the third truly feels grand and made Lloyd seeing a Source Dragon for the first time appropriately grandiose, with the accompanying vision elevated by the music.
This playlist, the Ninjago: A Musical Journey video, and the NinjagoMusic channel are all great repositories of Ninjago soundtracks. Note that S7 and DRS1 also faced each other in Round 1, and both tied there as well, just like in R2. Meanwhile, Possession has been scoring decisive victories in each round. Which trend will break now?

Ninjago Season Soundtrack Tournament: Round 2c
Which of these seasons has the best soundtrack?
Season 4: Tournament of Elements
Season 7: Hands of Time
Ninjago Dragons Rising - Season 1
For those who haven't seen my first post, the rules of this vote are here, but TL;DR: vote for the season with your favorite soundtrack. The season itself is irrelevant, just the music playing during the events of the season. Today, the challengers are:
Season 4: Tournament of Elements
Tournament of Elements took the win over Prime Empire and the Pilots in Round 1, winning with 47% of the vote.
This season incorporates drums and chanting into many of its unique soundtracks, giving it a distinct feel. It introduces Chen's theme and a theme for the Anacondrai, with one of my personal favorite soundtracks from this season being "The Serpentine War," which plays during "Spellbound" as Garmadon explains the events of the Serpentine War. Skylor also gets a theme, and there are a couple of standalone soundtracks that are great -- the upbeat track that plays when the Elemental Masters break out of the noodle factory ("And That's the Kink") and "Opening the Cursed Realm," which plays when Clouse opens the cursed realm (and again in S6 when Djinnjago collapses, when Nya and Sora fight the Howlers in DRS1, and more). The tracks "Something's Gotten Into Lloyd" and "Cursing Chen's Army" use Garmadon's theme in a new way -- downcast to bittersweet triumph -- as Garmadon is banished to the Cursed Realm.
Season 7: Hands of Time
Hands of Time couldn't quite score a definitive victory in Round 1, tying with DRS1 and Sons of Garmadon for 1/3 of the vote each. That means all three will advance to Round 2, though it will be facing DRS1 yet again. Will people who liked DRS1 vote for S4 now, or people who liked S8 now vote for S7 -- either of which give S7 a chance to sneak through?

Ninjago Season Soundtrack Tournament: Round 1g
Which of these seasons has the best soundtrack?
Season 7: Hands of Time

Season 8: Sons of Garmadon
For those who haven't seen my first post, the rules of this vote are here, but TL;DR: vote for the season with your favorite soundtrack. The season itself is irrelevant, just the music playing during the events of the season. This is the final matchup of Round 1, meaning that all 21 Ninjago seasons/specials will have had their soundtracks voted on. Today, the challengers are:
Season 7: Hands of Time
Hands of Time might not be a perfect season, but its soundtrack doesn't disappoint. Season 8: Sons of Garmadon
Sons of Garmadon introduces a theme for the titular villains which is used throughout the season - building off the iconic villain's leitmotif with an edgier, more electronic adaptation. The track "Garmadon's True Potential" ups the emotion and makes the episode "True Potential" truly memorable -- its second half has some of the best tracks in the season (the aforementioned "Garmadon's True Potential," but also "It Doesn't End Now," which plays as Lloyd heads to Kryptarium Prison). Despite this, I think the best new theme in Sons of Garmadon is easily Harumi's theme, which changes as her true nature is revealed, ultimately culminating in the "Harumi despair theme" as seen in "Game of Masks" and later.
