After getting to hospital with our dads, Stiles and I were standing at the nurses station… and I was getting frustrated.
“Stilinski and Thomas, right?” the nurse asked.
Stiles nodded while I let out an exasperated, “Yes.”
“You said their insurances are with the county? They're deputies?”
“No, he's-- Stilinski’s the Sheriff. He's the county Sheriff,” Stiles said.
“Thomas is the deputy,” I said. “Okay, they're covered!”
“I mean, they should be covered,” Stiles said.
We both sighed as we felt hands on our backs. Looking over our shoulders, we saw that the hands belonged to Melissa.
“I'll take care of it,” she said. She grabbed a clipboard as Stiles grabbed my hand, the two of us walking with her down the hallway.
“I texted Scott,” she said. “He's coming as soon as he can. I can call Malia.”
“No, no, no,” Stiles said. “Don't-don't call anyone.”
“Is there anyone else we need to notify? A next of kin?” the nurse asked.
I looked over my shoulder at her. “Yeah. My mom. Deputy Thomas' wife. Rose Carter.” I turned back around and sighed deeply, trying to hold myself together.
“It's just me for the Sheriff,” Stiles said.
Melissa walked Stiles and I to the waiting room, where we sat side by side in the chairs provided.
I was leaned back in my seat, hand rubbing Stiles' back as he leaned forward, elbows on his knees, hands rubbing together. He looked up and put his hands up to his mouth, and I just knew that he had tears in his eyes. So, I did what any other girlfriend would do; leaned forward and rested my chin against his shoulder. He turned his head slightly in my direction, careful not to knock our heads together.
“It's gonna be okay,” I whispered. “Your dad's gonna be okay.”
“You're not worried about yours?” he asked.
I nodded. “I am. But I also have Mom to do all the worrying and crying for me.” I scooted forward until I was almost on the edge of my seat, facing him more. “You've been my rock since we were kids. It's my turn to be that for you.”
He sighed and put his forehead against mine. “I love you.”
“I love you more,” I whispered. I pulled my head back a little. “Come here.” I leaned back and put my hand on his shoulder, guiding him to sit back some more. “Try and get a nap in. We both have had a long day.”
He nodded a little, but put his arm around my shoulder, guiding me to lean against him as best I could. I felt him press his lips to the top of my head as I closed my eyes. Within a few minutes, I was asleep. I wasn't so sure about Stiles, but I'm sure he fell asleep not long after I did.
~~~
I wasn't sure how much time had passed before I felt Stiles jump a little, which caused me to wake up.
We both were breathing heavily just a little as we both noticed Melissa sitting in front of us. I only knew that he also noticed her because the grip he had on me loosened a little.
“They're okay. They're both okay,” Melissa said. “Dr. Geyer is stitching them up right now.”
Stiles and I looked at each other in relief.
“Okay, I wanna see him,” Stiles said. He started to get up, but with mine and Melissa's hand on his shoulders, we sat him back down.
“Okay, okay,” she said. She looked at me for a second before looking back at Stiles, addressing the both of us. “The anesthesia needs to wear off. It's gonna be at least two hours.”
“Okay, yeah, but everything's gonna be okay though, I mean, he's okay?” Stiles rushed out.
She hummed in agreement, and nodded a little.
“What about my dad? Is he gonna be okay, too?” I asked.
She looked at me and smiled a little. “They're gonna be just fine.”
I watched as Stiles sat back in his chair, tears filling his eyes as he sighed, “Oh, thank God.” He put his hands up to his mouth in relief. I was happy that my dad and godfather were going to be okay, but something deep inside of me told me that wasn't the case. I just needed to figure out what.
Deaton told me once that my abilities were gonna be a little more powerful than Lydia's. I'm guessing this is what he meant; that I would sense and feel bad things. I still had to be that rock for Stiles right now, though. I had my mom to do all the crying for me about my dad.
Stiles and I had gotten up from our seats to go see our dads. Something wasn't right when we looked at them. I sighed and closed my eyes, shaking my head. When I opened them up, they were Green... like always.
“Scott, Parrish... Lydia?” I whispered.
“What?” Stiles asked.
“Few pack members are here.Nothing to worry about.”
I felt as Scott's presence got stronger as Mom, Stiles and I were standing in front of our dad's rooms, talking to Dr. Geyer.
“What do you mean you don't know?” Stiles asked. “Two hours ago, they were fine. Now it looks like somebody took a baseball bat to their necks.”
“There could've been some minor internal,” Dr. Geyer said.
“Did you say minor internal?” I asked. “Since when is anything internal minor?”
“Kids,” Melissa said.
“No! We need to know what's going on with our dads, okay?” I said, looking right at Melissa. I looked at Dr. Geyer with my next words. “Dr. Geyer, somebody needs to tell us what's happening.”
“Somebody needs to tell us what's happening to them!” Stiles said, voice a little louder than mine.
As I took Stiles' right hand in my left, I wrapped my right hand around his arm, tears filling my eyes as Melissa looked from us to my Mom to our dads then back to us.
“We don't know,” Melissa said.
Stiles and I looked at each other before I looked out the window to the other side of the hallway. From the corner of my eye, I saw Stiles look over. We both watched as Scott stood at the other door to our dads rooms. I'm sure all that Stiles saw was red because he started walking towards Scott.
“Stiles,” I said.
He shoved the door open and stalked towards Scott. He grabbed Scott's jacket and slammed him against the wall then turned him and slammed his back against the ground.
As I started running towards them, I heard Stiles say, “Where were you?”
“Stiles!” I said, grabbing his shoulders to pull him off our best friend.
“You trusted him,” Stiles said, eyes locked on Scott. “You believed him. Right, huh? So where were you?”
“Melissa! Mom!” I said, turning my head over my shoulder to address them.
They both came running over, saying, “Hey, hey, hey!” to get Stiles' attention.
“Where the hell were you?!” Stiles shouted.
“Babe, stop!” I said, having help getting Stiles off of Scott. When we had both boys apart from each other, I stood in front of Stiles.
“Okay, alright, alright,” Stiles said. There were two other officers from the station that helped us get them apart. One standing beside me and Stiles, the other by Scott and Melissa. I looked over at Mom, who looked horrified at the scene she'd just witnessed.
Looking back up at Stiles, I put my hands on his cheeks, guiding his eyes to mine. “Babe, stop,” I said, calmly. “Not here. Now's not the time.”
“But he--”
“I know. I know,” I said. “Now isn't the time nor the place.”
He was still panting when he looked from me to Scott. Putting my hands on Stiles' chest, I turned my body a little to look at Scott, all three of us staring at each other.
“Your dad's not the only ones who got hurt,” Scott said.
“Oh, you'll heal,” Stiles snarked.
I sighed. I was pretty pissed at Scott as well, but not this pissed.
“Em?” Scott said. “Got any comebacks?”
“You're a damn idiot, Scott McCall,” I said. “We warned you and you didn't listen. Stiles is right. You'll heal.” I sassed the last two words.
I looked down at his shirt, seeing blood seeping through right before he moved his jacket to cover it.
“I'm not talking about me,” he said.
My eyes widened. “What room is she in?” I didn't wait for Scott to answer as I bolted from where I was standing to the elevators, clicking on the button of the floor I knew she'd be on. Stiles followed suit. Once we got to the floor we needed, I ran out of the elevator and down to her room. I took two steps when I felt Stiles behind me.
Laying on the bed with her mom sitting beside her was Lydia... looking catatonic. Tears filled my eyes once again at the sight of one of my best friends lying there helpless. Who the hell did this to her?
Mrs. Martin looked back at us, anger in her eyes. “No,” she said, standing from the bed.
“Mrs. Martin,” I tried.
“No, you don't. Neither of you are coming in here.”
Stiles moved around me a couple of steps.
“Get out!” Mrs. Martin said.
“Just wait, wait. I think I know who did this, okay,” Stiles said. “Let Emma look at the back of her neck.”
“I know who did this. You!” She shoved Stiles back, causing him to stumble back towards me. “All of you! Get out!”
“Mrs. Martin,” I said.
“Lydia was right to no longer be friends with you,” she sneered at me.
“Mrs, Martin, please. Just listen to us,” I said, tears falling from my eyes. “You just gotta check the back--”
“Just get out!”
“Just check the back of her neck!” I yelled.
“Out!” she said, successfully getting us out of the room before shutting the door in our faces.
Stiles put an arm around my shoulders, guiding me away from Lydia's room. He led us to the morgue. I guess this was gonna be our regular meeting place in the hospital...
Once Parrish, Scott, Mom and Melissa were in the room with us, we told them what we saw of Lydia. Parrish and Scott already knew because apparently Parrish found her like that at the Nemeton and Scott had helped bring her to the hospital.
“It could be a side effect of shock,” Parrish said.
“She's catatonic,” Stiles said, putting his arm around my shoulders, pulling me into his side. “It was Theo digging his way through her mind.”
“Why would he do that?” Mom asked.
“What was he looking for?” Melissa asked.
“The same thing he's always looking for,” Scott said. “An advantage.”
“So what did he gain by trying to kill Stilinski and Thomas?” Parrish asked.
“It left me alone with Liam. Theo wanted to take sure no one would be there to stop him from killing me.”
“Okay, so he gutted our dads as a distraction,” I said, wrapping my right arm around Stiles' back and placing my left hand on his chest.
“We need to find this kid,” Parrish said.
“Isn't that a little dangerous?” Mom asked.
“Yeah, especially since he almost killed my kid?” Melissa said.
“Yeah, but he said he didn't want our dads to die,” Stiles said.
“And you both believe him?” Parrish said.
“I'm not sure what the hell to believe anymore,” I sighed.
“He told me where to find them,” Stiles said.
“So, maybe he also knows how to save them,” I added.
“What do you want to do?” Mom asked. “Talk to him?”
“If it saves Dad and Noah, then yeah,” I said, looking at my mom.
“I'll come with you. He doesn't know that I'm alive,” Scott said. “Maybe that gives us an advantage.”
“He'll know you're there,” Stiles said, moving around me to walk towards the door. “I just need to talk to him, not fight him.”
“Babe, you can't go alone,” I said.
“That's why you're coming with me.”
“Does anyone even know how to find him?” Parrish asked.
“We don't have to find him,” Stiles said. “He'll come to me.”
He looked at me and I sighed deeply.
~~~
When we got to Scott's, we left the door open. Stiles sat down the stairs, facing the doors while I stood in front of him, blocking the door for the time being.
“You sure this'll work?” I asked, arms crossed.
“It has to,” he said, quietly. “I don't know what I'll do if it doesn't.”
I sighed and stood on the last step, to which Stiles put his hands on my waist and placed his head on my stomach. I put my hands on his shoulders and rubbed his arms up and down.
He picked his head up and softly squeezed my waist after a couple of seconds, causing me to look down at him. Motioning his head for me to come here, I leaned down at the same time he sat up a little straighter. Our lips connected in a soft kiss. Pulling back, we placed our foreheads against each other as I sighed.
“Thank you,” he whispered.
“For what?” I asked.
“Always being there.”
I chuckled. “Always, babe. And thank you.”
He furrowed his brows. “For what?”
I smirked. “Being my hero.”
He chuckled a little. “I hate it when you do this.”
“Please?”
He sighed and looked down. “I'm not a hero, Em.”
I placed my finger under his chin, lifting his head up and looking him in the eyes. “You'll always be my hero.”
I turned around and sat on the step below him, tilting my head back while he placed his arms on my shoulders, lacing his fingers in front of me.
About two minutes later, Theo walked up to the door, standing at the line of Mountain Ash.
Stiles and I looked at him as he stood there, looking at the Ash. He looked back up at us and stepped over the line, causing me to raise a brow with sass.
“Nice to see that you still have your sass, Emma,” Theo said.
“Yeah, it probably won't ever go away,” I sassed.
He chuckled. “I guess we're all telling the truth now.” He looked up at the staircase. I was really hoping at this point that he wasn't sensing Scott standing up there.
Stiles tossed Theo Scott's shirt that he'd taken off as part of our plan.
“You killed our best friend?” Stiles said.
“And don't lie. I know you did because his name came bellowing out of my mouth. Banshee senses and all,” I said.
Theo looked at the shirt then back up at us. “Let's be honest, guys. Was he still really your best friend?”
“Are you gonna let our fathers die?” I asked.
“If I wanted them to die, I wouldn't have told Stiles where you can find them.” He tossed Scott's shirt off to the side.
Stiles moved his arms and tapped me on the shoulder, asking me to get up. So that's what I did. I stood up and moved off to the side.
“Then why are they saying both their bodies are shutting down?” Stiles said, standing from the staircase.
I leaned against the wall, crossing my arms, tears now filling my eyes. “That some toxin is poisoning them and they don't know how to stop it.”
“I'm not the bad guy, Emma,” Theo said.
“Oh, how I wanna believe that,” I sassed.
“I'm just a realist. I'm a survivor. If you knew the things that I know--”
“Yeah, but what do you know?” Stiles asked.
“I know what's coming. And so does Emma,” Theo said.
The face I gave him read anger.
“We know what the Dread Doctors created.”
“Uhm, you do. I just know that death is coming. For a lot of people.”
Theo looked at me. “Would you quit interrupting?” He sighed and looked back at Stiles. “And I know what Parrish is. Lydia figured it out. I saw it in her memories.”
“Right after you drove her out of her freaking mind,” I said. I uncrossed my arms, fully intending on attacking him, but Stiles grabbed my hand. He just knew me like that.
“Collateral damage,” Theo said.
I launched myself at him, but Stiles wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling my back flush against his chest.
“But if she's right about Parrish, then things around here are gonna get a lot worse.”
“I don't care,” Stiles whispered.
“You should,” Theo said. “Because if both your dads do survive, they're not gonna be Sheriff and Deputy of anything much longer.”
“What's happening to them?!” I yelled. I pushed off Stiles, really wanting to kick this Chimera's ass.
Theo just turned around to start walking out the door.
“Hey, tell us!” Stiles yelled. He walked up to Theo and turned him around by his shoulder.
Theo did turn around. However, he pushed Stiles back by his chest against the stairs and pushed me onto the floor of the living room.
I heard a thud, like Stiles had hit something on the stairs.
“Stiles?!” I yelled. I got up and moved to the stairs, seeing him laying there, almost lifeless. “Stiles!” I placed my hands on his cheeks, rubbing my thumbs against his skin. “Stiles, you have to wake up. Babe, wake up. Open your eyes. Please. Wake up.” I looked up the staircase. “Scott! Get down here!”
Scott came running down the stairs, jumping over Stiles' body.
I looked back down at Stiles. “Stiles. Stiles!” He opened his eyes and locked them with mine as I sighed in relief. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“I'm fine,” he said, getting up.
I stood beside Scott as Stiles stood in front of us.
“Babe, you blacked out,” I said.
“I'm okay,” he said, holding his hand out for me. I took it as he pulled me into a hug.
We both looked back to Scott. “Did you get anything from him, Scotty?” I asked.
“Nothing. He was calm the entire time,” he said.
“What about his heart?” Stiles asked.
“I heard it jump, but only once, and only for a second.”
“That doesn't mean he was lying, does it?”I asked.
“No,” Stiles said.
“Not really,” Scott said. “The rest of the time it was steady.”
“When did it jump? What were we talking about?”
Scott thought about the conversation for a second. “It was when you said your dads were poisoned.”
Stiles and I looked at each other. “That could be something,” I shrugged.
“A jump could mean surprise, right?” Stiles asked.
“Yeah, yeah, I think so,” Scott said.
“Alright, so why would he be surprised that our dads are still dying?” I asked.
Scott looked at me like he knew something. “Oh, wait. He didn't say that he was the one who attacked your dads, did he?”
“No,” Stiles and I whispered.
“Well, then this means it was probably someone else,” Stiles said.
“Another Chimera,” Scott and I said.
The feeling of our dads dying hit me like a bus. “We gotta hurry and find out who it is,” I said. “They're dying... and fast.”
~~~
Stiles and I jumped into my Jeep. He's lucky I'm letting him drive it. After we both closed the doors, he locked them, not wanting Scott to come along.
“Stiles,” I said. “Don't.”
Scott tried to open the door behind me, but couldn't because... well, it was locked.
“Stiles?” Scott said.
“Yeah, we can do the rest ourselves,” Stiles said.
“We don't even know where to start,” I said.
“Emma's right. All we know is that it's another Chimera,” Scott said. “Do you even know where you're headed?”
Stiles started the Jeep up.
“Come on. Let me help. I can find the clues that you can't.”
Stiles put the Jeep in drive, fully prepared to drive off without hearing another word from Scott. Didn't work 'cause Scott just moved in front of my Jeep.
They both looked at each other like the other was crazy. I sighed and opened my door.
“Where are you going?” Stiles asked.
“We can't do this alone, Stiles,” I said, authority in my voice. I got out and took steps towards Scott. “Now, I get that we're both equally pissed at Scott, but that doesn't mean that we can't work together on not having our dads die. If you two don't get over all this shit with Theo in order to save our fathers lives, then I don't want any part of this. Count me the hell out.”
It was silent between us three for a few seconds before Scott spoke up. “She's right, Stiles. You can't do this alone, okay. You need me. You need all of us. I can get more help. I can text Liam.”
“Liam just tried to kill you,” Stiles said.
“Okay, then at least let me help,” Scott begged.
“You believed him?”
“You trusted him, too.”
I got back in the Jeep, closing the door behind me. “Theo got to all of us.”
“Babe, he doesn't even know the real story,” Stiles said, looking over to me.
“He doesn't need to. At least not right now. All that matters right now is our dads, handsome.”
He kept his eyes on me as he sunk in the seat a little bit.
“Come on, Stiles. Emma's right here,” Scott said.
I looked over at Scott, seeing him nod his head, telling me to keep going. Stiles always listened to me in serious situations like this. I wasn't about to stop now.
“Look at me,” I said. Stiles turned his head over to look at me as I took my hand in his. “We survived an Alpha pack, a Dark Druid, professional assassins. You survived Nogitsune.”
“You survived Peter, Matt and the Kanima,” Stiles countered back.
“Yeah. Because I had you and Scott by my side. We're The Three Musketeers. Hell, the Three Stooges, even.”
He looked at me, nothing but love and understanding in his eyes.
I put my hand on his cheek, feeling him lean into my touch. “We can survive Dread Doctors and Chimeras, too.”
He picked his head up and danced his eyes around. “We're not looking for a missing Chimera. We're looking for a missing teenager.”
~~~
Stiles ended up driving the three of us back to his house, where he and I took showers and changed.
After I got dressed in my room, I walked into Stiles' room, watching as he worked on whatever it is they agreed upon.
Scott picked his head up from where he was looking. “Oh, good. You're here.”
“Uhm, yeah?” I said.
“Next time I'm here, can you two not go at it in the shower?”
“Your fault for listening in,” I sassed. I walked into the room more and around the crime board.
I guess Stiles just ignored what Scott said because he walked over to us with his phone. “There was a call a few hours ago about a sophomore from Beacon High who never came home last night.”
“What's his name?” Scott asked.
“Noah Patrick.”
We looked up at the list of Chimeras we printed, Scott pointing to Noah's name.
“You're gonna need a scent, right?” I asked, looking up at Scott.
“Where are we gonna get one?” Scott asked.
~~~
We went to the school and ended up finding his locker. “Break the lock and get his jacket,” I said.
Scott broke the lock on Noah's locker, opening it and grabbing the jacket that was inside.
“How did you know this was in here?” Scott asked.
“I keep one in mine in case someone hurries me out the door and I get cold. Doesn't everyone keep a jacket in their locker?” I said.
He sighed and made an impressed face. “Well... now we can catch his scent.”
“Like I've said.”
He turned and tossed the jacket into the hallway. I didn't see who caught it until I looked around Scott.
“You called her?” I asked.
“Em, we need all the help we can get,” Scott said. “I should be calling everyone.”
“And I know what this kid looks like,” Malia said.
She and I looked at each other, still trying to be civil. I keep going back and forth with her, but I can't help but be a little salty towards her. I mean, she did threaten my life at the same time while confessing her feelings for Stiles.
I sighed. “Alright.”
I wasn't too happy about this, but I guess I would have to deal.
~~~
We drove to the old abandoned train station, where Malia hopped out and walked down a set of stairs from the ledge into the tunnel where the train would pass through. Scott and Malia were a few steps ahead of us when Stiles decided to stop for a couple seconds.
I turned around and saw him standing by the ledge, looking for something. “Babe?” I said, causing him to quickly stand up straight.
“Yeah?”
“You okay?”
He sighed and looked down at the ground. “Yeah, I'm fine.”
It was my turn to sigh as I walked over to him, standing in front of him. “No, you're not.”
“How are you so good at that?” he asked.
I smirked and chuckled a little. “We've known each other since we were in diapers, been best friends since and have been dating for over a year. I think I know when something's wrong.”
He looked at me for a couple seconds. “I don't know. I guess it's our dads. I mean, everything that's happened to them has been because of us.”
“Hey,” I whispered, putting my hand on his arm. “Don't blame yourself or us for all of this. Someone's bound to get hurt because of the supernatural. It's been that way since Scott got bit. You know that.”
“Yeah, but I didn't think the first person to get seriously hurt by it would be you,” he said, voice soft.
“Shit happens. I survived. Our dads are gonna survive,” I said, emphasizing the last few words. “We're going to figure this out, take whatever information back to Melissa, and they're gonna fix Dad and Noah back up, and then they're going to heal and be back to normal before we know it. Okay?”
He looked at me for a few more seconds before nodding his head and pulling me into a hug. I placed the side of my head against his chest as he rested his chin on the top of my head, and breathed in his scent, loving this moment we're having. It's felt like forever since we've had a moment to ourselves like this.
“Where the hell is she going?” Stiles muttered.
“Hmm?” I said. I turned my body around some, seeing Malia walk into the ledge, basically. “Strange. Didn't know we all were going to Hogwarts.”
Stiles snickered as we walked down to meet Scott to walk into the wall. Hogwarts, here we come! When we got inside the wall, we were met with wind, weird, and tunnels.
“I got it,” Malia said. “I got his scent.”
“What else would you get? His number?” I sassed.
Scott turned to look at me as I saw Malia's shoulders tense up.
“Not the time for jokes, I get it,” I said, hands up in surrender.
Malia started walking down the tunnel, us following her after a few steps.
~~~
After following Malia down the tunnels for God knows how long, she stopped at a pipe and swiped her finger across it. I looked at her finger, seeing blood on it.
“Please tell me that's yours,” I said.
“This is Noah's. He was here,” she informed.
“Touching other peoples blood. Lovely.”
“I think he's close,” she said, ignoring my statement. Good job.
Scott walked down a tunnel that was behind us. “Guys. I think we've been down tunnels like this before, like when we were looking for Liam and Hayden.”
Stiles and I walked over to Scott, standing in front of him.
“Okay, so what?” Stiles said.
Scott looked down the tunnel. “Maybe, it means we're closer than we think. Maybe there's something else down here. Something that we haven't found yet.” He turned his head back to face us.
“Yeah, nothing that helps Dad and Sheriff, Scotty,” I said.
“Look, she's right. We can't just be standing around here waiting for something to--” Stiles said.
I was knocked out of the way by an unseen force, sending Stiles to collide with the wall.
“Not again,” I said, crawling over to him. “Stiles. Babe, wake up. Wake the hell up or I'm gonna slap you.” I placed my hands on his shoulders, rubbing his arms. “Stiles, wake up.”
He lifted his right hand up by my face, so I grabbed it with mine, lacing our fingers together. “Babe. Stiles.” He opened his eyes as Scott helped me stand him up. He pulled me into another hug.
“You okay?” I asked.
“Yeah, fine,” he said.
“One more hit like that and you're gonna also be in the hospital.”
Malia's growls stopped my train of thought. I looked over and saw that she had a kid pinned to the ground.
“Freaking hothead,” I mumbled.
“Let me go, please, please,” the kid said. He looked over at Scott, Stiles and I. “They're coming.” He looked back up at Malia, who looked at us, fangs on display.
We all heard the sound of the Dread Doctors. Scott and Stiles looked to their right while I looked to my left down the tunnel, seeing if we were gonna be able to see them to no avail.
Stiles turned his head as Malia let the kid, who I soon recognized to be Noah, go. He let go of me and stopped Noah from running past us, pinning him to the wall.
“You're not going anywhere,” Stiles said.
“I said I don't remember,” Noah said.
I walked over to them. “You don't remember anything?” I asked, eyes narrowed.
“No. Not when it happens. Not when I change.”
“You clawed our dads half to death, okay, and now it's poisoning them,” Stiles said. “So you're gonna start remembering every detail right now.”
“Scott, I hear them,” Malia said.
“Yeah, I do, too,” Scott said. “Hey, guys, get him out of here. Go to the hospital. Figure out a way to save both your dads.”
“We're not gonna be able to stop them.”
“But we can slow them down. Stiles, Emma, go.”
Stiles looked back at Scott, who nodded his head. He looked back at me and I raised my left brow as I said, “As unbelievably hot as you're being right now, we really need to go or else we're gonna be attending a joint funeral for our dads, okay? Let's go.”
Stiles looked back at Noah, shoving him forward. I followed after them, hearing Scott grunting in pain. I couldn't think about that now. I just had to think about saving Dad and Sheriff.
I heard gunshots and was very confused by it. Why the hell was I hearing gunshots as we were running for our lives? We ended up at a gate that was locked with a chain around it.
Stiles picked it up, not believing we were being stopped by this lock. “Oh, damn it.”
“Step back,” Noah said. “I think I can break through it. It's just sometimes, most of the time, I lose control. So, you both better step back.”
“Okay,” Stiles said. He moved in front of me, backing me up a little with his arm out in a protective stance.
Noah rolled up his sleeves, ready to break this lock. He groaned as bones came out of his skin. He lifted his arm and slashed through the chain, unwrapping it from the gate, and pulling it open.
As he was doing this, I looked at one of the pieces of bone on his hand, seeing a little bit of blood.
“Babe, the bone on his hand, look. There's blood,” I said.
After Noah got the gate open, he looked at us. “Let's go.” He ran without seeing if we were still behind him or not.
Stiles took a couple of steps forward. “Call Melissa.”
I pulled out my phone and dialed her up.
“You got something?” she asked.
“It's bone marrow. There's bone in them,” I said. “A Chimera with Berserker type bones must've stabbed them, leaving a piece of bone in them. It's bone marrow poisoning.”
I hung up without another word, hoping to hear good news later.
We made it back to the hospital, walking through the doors. Melissa stood as she saw us walk in, giving us a relieved look and a nod.
Stiles and I ran from Scott, Malia and Argent. Didn't know he was back, but kudos. We made it to both our dads room. I laid beside him in his bed, carefully putting my arm around his middle. Mom sat in the chair beside the bed, holding his right hand since I was on his left.
I looked over at Stiles, a small smile on my face at the sight of our dads looking healthy again.
We both must've fallen asleep to the sounds of the heart monitors. I had woken up to the feeling of someone rubbing my arm. Looking up, I connected my eyes with my dad, tears filling them instantly.
I carefully hugged him, careful not to yank any cords. “I thought I was gonna lose you,” I softly cried.
“Never, sweetheart. I promise,” Dad said. He kissed the top of my head.
I opened my eyes, seeing Sheriff put his hand on Stiles' shoulder, causing Stiles to wake up. He sat up a little and looked at his dad.
“It's okay, Stiles. You still got me,” Sheriff said.
Stiles grabbed his Sheriff's hand before he turned his head over his shoulder, looking at me for a split second.
I held my dad just a little bit tighter before I fell right back asleep.
