Begonia: How cautious is your muse? Are they prone to noticing red flags, or paranoid to the point of untrusting most everyone? Why or why not?
Martin is really cautious. He carefully plans and doesn’t make rash decisions. Especially because of his secret regarding his lack of magic, Martin has never been one to take chances socially. He feels the weight of his family’s and the Coven of Owls’ expectations upon the backs of his shoulders and knows that he cannot step out of line.
Whether or not he notices red flags is difficult to tell with Martin. He trusts those who he has been told to trust and is currently working to allow himself to trust outside of that.
Iris: If your muse could convey one last message to someone they have lost or left behind, what would it be?
This isn’t really the prompt but I want to use this to set up something else so... #SorryNotSorry! This is set two years before Mim moved in because I’m having Owlet Feelings:
Dearest Mim,
Happy Christmas! I’m sorry I’m not able to make it home this year, the roads are just too terrible and I have a lot of work to do here at Pride University. I decided to send your present in its own wrapping and with its own note so that you could decide how much of it you would like to share with Mum and Dad.
I sent you sweets from the Moon Market that I found and really liked as well as some new transmutation books and a copy of A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. I’m told by the shopkeeper Belle that it is a very fun read and figured you would enjoy it, though the way the magic works is a little fantastical.
I wish that I could be there with you. It’s been hard being away but I hope that you’ve been doing well. I know Mum and Dad get a little tense around the holidays but everything will work itself out as it always does.
Know that my thoughts are with you during the holidays and that I look forward to spring break when I get to visit you next!
Your Brother,
Martin Ambrosius
Parsley: Describe a holiday your muse enjoys, and why they enjoy it.
Martin really enjoys Christmas despite his mentioning how irritated Marvin tends to get around the holiday. He enjoys being in London during the holiday season and wandering around the city. He never really got to enjoy London as an adult outside of the winter holidays. Plus winter break was one of the only times he got to spend any time with his sister. He is learning that she’s a three-dimensional being now that she moved in with him but before this she was always still seen as the plucky little sister she had been when he moved away for the first time.
