“Hell yes!” Jack shouts, clapping and whistling loudly before sitting back down. He grins at Robby. “What a game so far.”

Robby grins back, eyes crinkling. “I think I might be having more fun watching you,” he teases. He takes a sip of his beer. “You gonna make it to the third quarter or do you need to take a lap?”

Jack rolls his eyes, bumping their shoulders together. “You know damn well I’ve got better stamina than that.”

Robby laughs, head thrown back.

“Got me there,” he agrees, cheeks flushing a pleasant pink.

The arena is filled with noise, people talking and cheering, music ricocheting off every surface. Above them, the jumbotron illuminates with the iconic red heart frame of the kiss cam.

“Love is in the air,” the arena announcer croons as the camera pans to one couple after another, some turning truly startling shades of red before being kissed. The music - some pop love song Jack doesn’t know - plays loudly. He chuckles, shaking his head before taking a sip of his beer.

“Oh shit,” Robby laughs suddenly, eyes wide. He slaps Jack’s shoulder. “Jack.”

The camera has landed squarely on them. The kiss cam frame is now adorned with vivid, flowery font that says ‘HAPPY 30th ANNIVERSARY’.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please join the Lakers in wishing Jack and Robby a happy 30th anniversary,” the announcer says. “Here’s to 30 more!”

The crowd absolutely roars, cheers and whistles nearly deafening. They’re chanting something, but it’s hard to make it out.

“What the fuck,” Jack laughs, feeling his cheeks heat. “Who - this is crazy.”

“Kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss!” The crowd chants.

“Oh my god,” Robby says, still looking up at the screen. “I’d bet money this was Trin -“

Jack kisses his husband soundly, hands cradling his face with a deceiving gentleness. He doesn’t shy away from it, doesn’t keep it chaste or brief because there are a thousand eyes on them.

No, he’s spent more enough time in his life having to love Robby in secret. Instead, he kisses him with everything he’s got, pouring the seemingly infinite adoration he has for the man in his arms into it.

Robby leans into it, smiling against Jack’s lips, the low rumble of his laugh sending a rush of heat through him.

“Happy anniversary, I guess,” Robby laughs against his lips as they separate.

“Yeah,” Jack laughs. “Happy fucking anniversary, baby. To 30 more.”

reposting this comment i left on a samira/robby analysis post bc i've been thinking abt it all night and i think i'm lowkey right actually.

this is all in the context of whitaker becoming his next protege instead of literally any of the MANY women in the pitt. think about how many women were working during langdon's leave vs how many men, lol. most of the cast is women, no? but dr. robby still chose whitaker over the many talented women of the pitt. if he wanted to choose another protege to simply replace langdon/rub it in langdon's face, he would've chosen santos because they are the most similar in looks, attitude, etc. instead he chose whitaker bc he's not looking to replace langdon, he's looking to fill the now empty role of student, which in dr. robby's eyes means someone like him— someone he can easily see himself in, another man.

not that i hate dr. robby or whitaker, i just think it's interesting. every little move dr. robby has for teaching is just him copying dr. adamson, his mentor who died and he's clearly not coping too well with it even now. since he is now dr. adamson in his mind, he needs a little michael to teach. it's definitely unconscious imo, i think it's a mix of internal misogynistic biases and trauma that have shaped his worldview and the way he runs the pitt.

i think it would be neat if dr. al-hashimi pointed this out or picked up on this and took a talented woman under her wing instead as dr. robby leaves. maybe this makes him confront his thought processes? maybe this impacts whitaker, too, no longer the golden boy of the pitt?

i see a lot of people mentioning how whitaker is teaching the new pittlings and not javadi or santos. is it because santos doesn't want to or because whitaker was encouraged by dr. robby to be their main teacher? i know her personality can be abrasive, but i do think santos would enjoy teaching pittlings. victoria, too, though i feel like she'd be very anxious about it given her disposition.

anyways, let me know what you guys think. i would love to discuss this!! again this isn't character hate but more analysis/theorizing, which i really love to do. please feel free to disagree, too!

Okay now that I've seen the entire season. Rating how much storyline time/impact the characters in the main cast outside of the attendings/Dana had on me:

1) Langdon - They did a great job exploring him returning back, the response he got and re finding his footing. He got a lot of great scenes, especially with Mel, Robby and Santos. I felt it was a really truthful exploration of someone returning to their job after that time away and seeing it through new eyes, of having to adjust and find their place again. His dynamic with Robby this season was very delicious to me, and I cannot wait to see that carry over into next season.

2) Santos - The journey she goes on with the return of Langdon, feeling threatened by Al-Hashimi, her relationship with Whitaker, her struggle to let people in, the self harm reveal…so much good stuff. She really got to feel deeply human in a way that I think is rare for a character on a show like this. The way they showed more of her soft side with all the Garcia stuff, the way she is so clearly a bit of a wounded dog trying to reach out but afraid and biting.

3) Javadi - trying to figure out what she is going to do next, the scenes with her parents, her with Jackson, Caleb and Roxy, the tiktok plotline and recording the ICE stuff! She got so many interesting things to explore. I love the choice to ultimately have her go into emergency psych. She has had other people tell her what choices she should be making for so long, it feels satisfying to know that she is making this choice purely for herself.

4) Whitaker - Becoming a better doctor, working with the med students, showing him as the new golden boy/why he is a great fit for the ER, his friendship with Santos!!! He got a lot of great moments this season, and really showed a huge growth arc between the last season and now. I am really rooting for some of his kindness to backfire on him over the next few seasons, to show the downside of someone being such a people pleaser. I think we see a bit of it in that argument with Langdon, and I hope to see that thread pulled on more next season.

5) Mel - The deposition shaking her confidence and Robby and Langdon trying to build her back up, the scenes with her sister and her realizing that she truly has built her life around her sister and that she needs interests and hobbies for herself. Figuring out how to balance her sister growing up and still being her caretaker. That staircase scene with Dana really got me. I loved that she went to karaoke with Santos and we got this hint of her finding herself outside of the hospital. Please give us more Mel/Santos friendship next season I beg.

6) Mohan - figuring out where she belongs, trying to decide on an elective, everything with her mom and the panic attack. I think this had some strong stuff, but it spun it's wheels a lot as a storyline and felt a bit one note. That panic attack storyline should have lasted longer and she deserved a stronger confrontation scene with Robby. It felt like they ran out of things for her to do and just had her storyline be the mom thing.

7) McKay- her storyline felt very one note as well, it was very much I need to get a date and keep my life moving. I don't think this was a bad choice actually cause she got a LOT of character time last season, it made sense to give her a bit less. She had great scenes with Roxy and with the park sequence showing her street team work. I think it will be interesting to see the next places they take her character, since we have her this season really reflecting on the next steps in her life.
