So at the last Namjatown event, I did the werewolf game where there were three Zetsubou members embedded in the Mirai Kikan--two moles and the Attacker. The roles were randomly generated every game.
In a twist I'm sure no one saw coming, I was on Team Zetsubou, playing as Asahina. The Attacker was the girl playing Izayoi and the other Zetsubou member was the girl playing Munakata.
Our Zetsubou Squad was Munakata, Dat Yoi, and Asahina.
I am exhausted and hungry but here, before I forget it all.
First of all, the voice actors were mostly dressed to resemble their characters: Ogata had on a Komaeda-esque jacket/t-shirt combo, Sugita wore a magenta scarf and had a scar drawn over his right eye, Hikasa sported a braid, a jacket, a mini-skirt, and boots (and yes, the iron curtain stayed in place…dammit), Fujita curled her hair like Kimura, Minase had on a lot of pink and a ribbon around her throat, Suwabe straight up wore a Sakakura-style long jacket with fur around the hood, etc.
Ogata greeted everyone with “Danganwa”, Eguchi with “OICHIIIIII”, and Suwabe just screamed. Ogata’s gay crush on Hikasa holds strong.
The first section was the voice actors reflecting back on DR3, which didn’t have a lot of new info that hasn’t made it into interviews or whatever. Though Eguchi had these Monokumas drawn on both his knees which Hikasa later admitted to being responsible for, and he would show them through the holes in his jeans.
Section 2 was the first of what I’m going to call “live drama CD tracks”. In this one, the 77th Class (Nidai, Tanaka, Komaeda, Mioda, Sonia, and Tsumiki) get taken on a speed dating excursion by Yukizome. Hilarity ensued.
Part 3 was a quiz where the different classes competed (Bandai got rolled into the 74th Class’s team). The 76th Class got the most questions correct, but the 66th/74th Class ended up winning because they got the final question correct. The 66th/74th Class also started off by trying to leech wifi so they could look up the answers while the 78th Class tried to cheat off other teams and punch away their Monokuma wrong answer markers.
Questions, in order:
1. Gekkougahara is the former SHSL what?
2. What fictional company makes Nanami’s Gamegirl Advance?
3. What was the name of the cream puff Andou makes for the practical exam?
4. What is the name of the finishing move Nanami uses on Hanamura?
5. What is the name of the drink Komaeda wins out of the vending machine?
After the quiz there was another drama CD style section, this time with the Future Foundation giving the 78th Class (well, half of the survivors anyway) a test to see if they should be let in. Kirigiri passes with flying colors, Naegi blows up a bomb in everyone’s faces but lucks into avoiding seriously hurting Bandai, and Hagakure is a liability. It ends with Yukizome being sinister.
Then that led into a flashback to the 74th Class, where Sakakura wins the world championship as a senior. Kimura helps out with treating his wounds, Izayoi creates a training tool, and Andou caters the after party. Mioda, a middle schooler, interviews Sakakura, who says he’s quitting boxing to her shock. Then Munakata talks to Yukizome looking for Sakakura, and then they have a super gay moment on the balcony before Yukizome shows back up to drag them both to the party.
During the farewells Ogata teased the audience with an SDR2 anime and Fujita said that Ogata told her she was the true hope in Kibou-hen for bringing back Kirigiri and Nanam--oh wait, Nanami didn’t come back.
All the voice actors seemed to have a great time, and even though my super faves weren’t present, it was still really awesome.
So yeah, definitely a lot of fun and worth the money!
Hello! I hope it doesn't sound rude, but... any details about the "super gay moment" between Sakakura and Munakata? Thank you for sharing with us all these DR-related infos!
Basically Sakakura is out on the balcony musing over quitting boxing and Munakata going abroad, and then Munakata shows up and they awkwardly have a conversation where they don’t directly address what they want to say. For example, not saying they’ll miss each other, Sakakura asking who asked who out in his friends’ relationship (Yukizome) and saying they make a good match, Sakakura cuts off Munakata from talking about him quitting boxing by saying they gotta fix Kibougamine first, then the world, etc.
Then when they descend into awkward silence, Yukizome jumps out saying she saw the whole thing and scolding Sakakura from hiding from everyone. When he tries to skip out, Yukizome continues to push the OT3, saying the three of them will attend the party together.
It ends on her telling Sakakura that she won’t hand over Munakata to him, and weirdly Munakata has like no reaction to that.
Oh, also–Suwabe said at one point that when he was recording Sakakura’s death scene, the staff told him to move his lips and not say anything so the animators could use it as a base. He could say anything he wanted, basically, but he ended up saying “Kyou…su…ke…*death sigh*”
What other references were there? And tell me about the speed dating segment, and the segment after the quiz cause I kind of needa know. For scientific reasons.
Man, it’s been a whole day, I don’t remember all the references that got made, haha. I also don’t remember exactly what happened in the skits either.
Here’s my vague memories.
There was a point in the speed dating one where Tsumiki fell over and Nidai then did too to make her feel better, Mioda tried to hit on Komeada and ended up not being wanted by anyone, and Tanaka ended up drinking a spiked drink from Mioda (who got it from Hanamura) that made his voice go all weird. Also I think Sonia was hitting on Nidai. My memory of that one is hazy since it was first. I seem to remember it ending because everyone got day drunk thanks to Mioda and Yukizome just kind of pocketed the juice and took everyone home.
The Mirai Kikan test had two parts: one part had Andou and Izayoi try to feed the group spiked sweets, then eat some themselves. After the symptoms start, Kimura shows up to force whoever didn’t eat them to choose who they’d save–in this case neither Kirigiri nor Naegi eat the sweets because Hagakure scarfs them all down. Rather than play to that, Kirigiri just lays out exactly what they did and passes the test.
The second test starts with Bandai calling them into the next room and Hagakure thinking that it must be a pretty girl with that voice (he also tries to reassure himself that Naegi would have saved him if he was forced to choose, to which Naegi goes “Uh…sure…”). Hagakure and Naegi are so surprised to see what Bandai looks like that it takes them awhile to realize there’s a bomb in the room. Naegi decides to trust his luck and cut both the black and the red wire and the bomb blows up in everyone’s faces. Apparently the right answer was to just ask Bandai for help or something to that effect I don’t really remember. After he leaves, Kirigiri takes a look at the cutters and sees that there’s poison on them, meaning that if Naegi had asked Bandai to defuse the bomb for them, it would have turned out badly (iirc).
Naegi reports that only Kirigiri really passed the test, but they were all let into the organization anyway. Yukizome shows up for the epilogue, musing about so this is Naegi’s hope and chuckling to herself about how it will affect Munakata.
You mentioned that Ogata teased the audience with an SDR2 anime. Like, a serious tease or just fucking with us? (because I did enjoy DR3 a lot but I would seriously consider trading it for a SDR2 anime... so long as it isn't a rush job)
As in she was clearly fucking with everyone, because Ogata likes to troll.
At this point I think it’s pretty clear that we will never get a Dangan anime that isn’t a rush job, unfortunately.
