Prompt: “We could get struck by lightning, but you want to kiss in the rain.”

Your dress threatened to lift as the wind blew through the park, its howling filling your ears. Spencer chuckled as your hand immediately shot down to keep the fabric from blowing up and flashing everyone. You rolled your eyes at the fact he found amusement in your outfit problems that afternoon. It had been sunny just an hour ago but now the sky was a dark grey as rain filled clouds rolled in.
“I should’ve checked the weather before,” you grumbled as you took your cardigan off and tied it around your waist in an effort to weigh down your light dress. You hissed as the cool breeze hit your bare arms and sent goosebumps up your skin.
“The weather is unpredictable. They almost always get it wrong anyway,” Spencer replied with a grin as he tore his jacket off and placed it on your shoulders. You smiled gratefully now that you were shielded from the cold weather, and chuckled as you realized Spencer had another thinner hoodie on underneath. He had certainly prepared for the weather.
“You knew and didn’t tell me,” you accused in disbelief. He had picked you up and noticed your outfit the moment you stepped out of the home but had kept his mouth shut.
“You looked cute and I know how long you take to plan your outfits,” he replied with a grin. “I thought I’d let you stay in it and eventually give you my jacket.”
“My hero,” you replied with a dreamy sigh that caused him to laugh. You smiled as you leaned into his side, his arm wrapping around your shoulder as you continued to walk through the park. The two of you talked about whatever came to mind; work, the last thing that had happened on your favorite tv show, your current favorite song, the ridiculous things your friends had done. You did this every weekend in order to stay up to date with each other’s lives even though you had been in a relationship for a while. Demanding jobs got in the way but the two of you managed to make things work.
Your hand instinctively reached up to wipe away at your face when you felt something fall onto your skin. You pulled your hand away to see that it was wet. Your eyes widened as you realized it was about to rain and turned to Spencer to suggest going home.
It was too late as the clouds unleashed their fury, immediately soaking you both. You laughed as Spencer pulled you through the park and across the street desperate for cover from the downpour. The sky filled with rays of light and the way it rumbled sent a shiver of fright down your spine.
“This is romantic,” Spencer commented with a small laugh as he gestured at the both of you. His glasses were covered in rain drops and his clothing clung to his body. You laughed as you looked down at yourself and noticed your dress was clinging to your skin, and your hair was soaked thoroughly.
“Maybe we should kiss,” Spencer suggested with a sheepish smile. He had always wanted to kiss in the rain, a secret he kept to himself as it was something Morgan would have made fun of to no end. He thought it was romantic and had been waiting for the right girl and the right time to try it.
“We could get struck by lightning but you want to kiss in the rain,” you said incredulously although you weren’t against the idea. You had always been afraid of lightning and Spencer knew this. Spencer grinned at your fear.
“You know, statistically the odds of beings struck by lightning in the United States is one in seven hundred thousand. The odds of being struck in your lifetime is one in three thousand.”
“One in three thousand or one in seven hundred thousand,” you echoed with a small smile. “I guess I’m okay with those odds.”
Spencer grinned madly as he led you out onto the street once more. Everyone who passed by looked at you as if you had gone insane, a pair of grown adults willingly standing underneath the year’s worst downpour. But you didn’t care as you shared a laugh and Spencer pressed his lips against yours with confidence.
“I’ve always wanted to do that,” Spencer confessed as he pulled away.
“Me too.”
Spencer smiled and took his glasses off. They were completely covered in water and he wanted to be able to see you when he kissed you. He threw them into his bag before leaning down and capturing your lips in another kiss.

“Look at those people. They’re just making out in the rain,” Emily commented in disbelief as the taxi sped by the couple, going too fast to actually notice who they were.
“Some people are just crazy,” JJ replied with a shrug in the seat next to her.
