What is the correlation between music preference and sexual preference?
When blessed with enough serious consideration and effort, an idea which initially seems silly can be grown into something both fascinating and informative. From that perspective, I can confidently say that I believe studying the correlation between music and sexuality is worth committing time to. Especially as exploration and discussion of sexuality moves more and more into the public consciousness, I think it’s important to talk about people of all sexualities as equal people with varying preference, and to thereby try to eliminate bias and stereotyping against minority sexualities. Maybe music preference is not a grand and sweeping inquiry that would single-handedly humanize all minority sexualities to those arrayed against them, but perhaps a simple way for others to start viewing people as human is to see their human interest explored.
In the event that no correlation is found, that in itself would be interesting. Music is often an outlet for emotional expression, and our exposure to different music could be reasonably assumed to change based on what groups we associate most strongly with, seek out to support, and receive support from. Individual experience and taste are, in the end, highly important, but these other aspects would also be worth researching.
If a correlation is found, I would like to look into why those correlations exist. Do specific genres of music have higher populations of creators with certain sexualities? Are specific genres more likely to address concepts that are attractive to certain sexualities? Is there another factor drawing certain groups to certain music which I had not previously been aware of to consider?
Surveying for this question is relatively straight-forward in my planning. I would spread a digital poll asking about favorite general music type and sexual preference and collect any responses. Interviews for this are also fairly cut and dry, asking the questions with further depth and more time for a personalized response. Observation is going to be more difficult in this case, but I do have plans for observing this. One such plan is to look up demographics and usage information for music sites such as Spotify. Another is to find music forums and search through them for discussion or mention of sexuality.
Music and sexuality are both concepts that I find personally significant. Researching them and their possible connections is something I look forward to.

Here, enjoy an aesthetic collage for my current WIP, #SonsOfSlaughter! I don’t know if I’ll keep it up on my main feed because I’m worried it won’t flow with the other pics - let me know what you think. 😆 • Anyway, I started #Draft2 of #SOS a few days ago and have already added about 1500 words. I have a lot more content edits ahead of me. 😅 • Also, I’m doing a Q&A about SOS in my insta story, but I’ll go ahead and post here, too. Comment below with any questions you have about the story, or head on over to my InstaStories! https://www.instagram.com/p/By735TeAOam/?igshid=1qo6qs8dbtp7x
This is my second version of my business card! I thought my last one was okay, but was a bit repetitive and had nothing to do with Stop Motion or animation in any way. I liked the colours/design and layout that I used though, so decided to keep that in my next draft. The colours have shown up brighter on here though, on PS they’re a lot more pastel. I liked the idea of having a drawing of an armature on one of the characters I had designed for an animation, but when i got to drawing it, it was too small for the box and looked a bit odd. So i thought maybe drawing armatures in different positions would be quite cool and show a little of my love for movement?
I pretty much like the design, I think it’s different and matches my quirkier personality. On the back I’ve gone with dots the same colour as the front design and added another little armature but i think it might be a bit too much? It has he same details, website, email, phone number and instagram - where they can find recent works/illustrations.
