Ruby asks Weiss why she is avoiding Her Blake and Yang and Weiss response “Cause I know you’re going to make fun of me”
“Can you at least tell me why you’re avoiding us?” Ruby asked as she followed Weiss into the library. “We’re supposed to be a team and for the whole semester, you’ve always kept your distance.”
“Because I know you’re all going to end up making fun of me, alright?” Weiss quickly found a secluded table and sat down, quickly opening up her books to try to get Ruby to leave her alone. “So its become easier for me to avoid you all.”
“But isnt avoiding us tiring though?”
“No,” Weiss lied through her teeth. Slowly, she leaned back in her seat and looked up at her partner. A heavy sigh left her lips as she looked back to her book. “It doesnt matter how tiring it is, but I know that if I get close, I’m going to regret it.”
“Why would you think we would make fun of you? You’re our teammate and we just want to be there for you.”
Weiss quietly closed her book and looked around the library to make sure she and Ruby were truly alone. With a deep breath, she closed her eyes to focus as her aura started to shimmer. Pale skin became blue, shimmering scales that seemed to reflect the light that shined on them. Smoke rose from her nostrils as she let out her breath, two reptilian eyes looked back at Ruby as they opened. Once she saw the terror in her partner’s eyes, she focused to hide herself once more as her scales seemed to melt away. “This is why I avoid you.”
“That’s… that’s not a reason to hide from us. You’re just Weiss-”
“I’m a freak!” Weiss whispered loudly as she slammed her hand on the table in front of her. “Father would’ve rather I was a faunus instead of… whatever this is. All I ever got from him was remarks on my appearance, how I wasnt schnee-like enough. All I am is a monster, no better than the grimm we fight.”
Ruby gently took Weiss’s hand and squeezed it gently, feeling her sharp nails against her skin. “You’re not a monster. Different, sure, but not a monster. And maybe we can help you figure out what you are.”
Weiss slowly nodded and pulled her hand away from Ruby. “When… if I’m ever ready for that, I’ll come to you. Promise.”
“Just remember, we’re here for you and will always be here for you.”
Weiss sighed and watched Ruby walk off. Her hand went to her shoulder as she traced a scar that went down her back where her wings used to be. Pain reverberated through her body as skin became scales once more as her focus drifted from looking human to Ruby’s words. Scars and scrapes were visible on her scales, and the small horns she hid started to grow longer as she caught her reflection in the nearby window. A heavy sigh left her lips as she gripped one of her horns. “No one is ever here for me.”
