“Aaravos, the Fallen Star
Star dragons: Some believed them to be gods in draconic shape, others simply the first dragons to appear in this world. No one knows the true answer, and no one knows what they even looked like…except those that met the only Star dragon proven to have existed at one point:
Once known as the great Archmage, Aaravos was, and to this day still is, the only dragon said to have harnessed the power of all of the known elements:
First-Fire, Electricity, Earth, Ice, and Wind, as well as his in-born element: Star (and others mentioned below) A feat later found to be possible by the rare and mysterious Purple dragon.
It is said he shared his knowledge and power with other dragons of this world. Giving them the ability to use these elements as well. Though others claim it was the other way around, and Aaravos learned to control these elements by being taught by the other dragons.
Whatever the truth is, it is documented that he shared his power with others. Usually the weaker races, whom he was said to take pity on and offered his benevolent gifts. Others claim he was an arrogant creature who did so only to take something of equal value in return. Views on him are mixed for this reason…but the latter seems more accurate than the former.
For later in his life he created or discovered the Dark elements:
Shadow, Poison, Fear…and Spirit
These were a power no other knew or dared attempt to use before Aaravos, who not only dabbled in these dark arts but mastered them.
His power and malicious ambitions became a threat to Avalar and the world, leading to four brave dragons who worked in secret to master the Core elements themselves (Fire, Electricity, Earth, and Ice) battled and successfully imprisoned the sinister Fallen Star.
No one knows where, for these dragons later known as the first Guardians kept that knowledge between them. For fear the dreaded Archmage would escape by influencing a poor, unsuspecting soul into aiding him.
For now, however, the world is at peace, and the Fallen Star (if he ever truly existed) is incapable of causing further harm to it.”
-Aaravos, the Fallen Star, taken from “The Ancient History of the Dragon Realms”
In other words, this is Aaravos’ reference sheet for the Legend of Spyro alternate universe/crossover story. Like in The Dragon Prince, he was imprisoned for seemingly good reasons (as in he was evil and dangerous, but this may not be true) and has been biding his time. Planning and waiting for his escape, which comes in the form of a familiar black dragon child by the given name of Cynder.
-Yes he sparkles like his elf counterpart. The stars blink in and out in places and glow. They can also be “turned off” at will, or when he is terribly weakened or dies.
-Dark sclera (white of eyes) is an ancient dragon race feature. Keep this in mind.
-He does have wings. They’re folded and hidden under his cloak, which he wears almost 24/7 these days.
-The blade on his tail is attached. Not a stick-on weapon.
-He has jewelry, but removed most of it when he was imprisoned.
-The black diamond on his chest glows when he uses a large amount of his power. So do his eyes and mane like in the show.
-Personality is like usual (charismatic, seductive (not in a strictly sexual way), manipulative, endlessly patient (most days), playful, brilliant, and undyingly loyal to those that earn it
-He is OP, yes. But he is not the hero of this story. That doesn’t mean he’s definitely the villain either. But he is the master of every element in the world of LoS and no I am not changing or apologizing for it. (Him being imprisoned and unable to interact with the outside should be hindrance enough to make up for it)
-(Spoilers to those that haven’t been following my other posts on this AU) He is Cynder’s biological father. Very important detail as the story goes on.
-Aaravos has been around a VERY. LONG. TIME. (Malefor wasn’t even born yet when this guy showed up)
Feel free to ask questions both about him (to me) and addressing him if you want to know more.
* Disclaimer: I did not draw this from scratch. I traced The Chronicler’s character art to make this, and the element bubbles are all resources from Legend of Spyro and Skylanders.
I don’t trace often, but I wanted this to look like the LoS style. Any other art you have seen of this AU was hand-drawn, though.
