Her development through the years in the fandom…
So, following up on my text post a few days ago (here) to start my introduction of my newest f/o and selfship projects, I’ll share the different forms of my self-insert:
The Unusual Member of the Ars Goetia
First is Ars Goetia Meg, who I have shared before. It started with this awesome bunch of sketches by my dear friend, @allykatsart, when Helluva Boss was all we had for this fandom (that and the Hazbin Hotel pilot)
She drew my persona as an Ars Goetia based on a Snowy Owl (which is in line with my brand), but using my first draft idea for how to insert my s/i into the series.
What I did was take my first concept of human Meg and Stolas (who isn’t the new f/o, by the way. He’s a platonic f/o I’ve had for a while) accidentally meeting and then changed it so it was the Spirit Dragon version of Meg in human disguise.
So I made her Goetia clothes the color of her fur and scales in her Spirit dragon form.
The backstory was that Stolas used the Grimoire to give her this disguise form so she can travel around Hell without being found out, and be around him without it being suspicious (two royal birds hanging out? Yeah that makes sense)
Stolas has so many relatives, it was easy to slip her in.
Then Hazbin Hotel’s first season officially aired and with the new lore added I did some major changes to Spirit Dragon-in-disguise Meg.
Now she still comes from Earth, but her actual home is in Purgatory (which was an in-between afterlife place for those not good enough for heaven, not bad enough for Hell concept the show was going to use but that seems to have been scrapped, so I took and ran with it myself. More on that later) and she ended up working at the Hazbin Hotel after running into Charlie (literally) as she was getting ready to go into the Channel 666 news station in the Pilot.
Now Meg works at the Hotel and it isn’t until the end of season 1 that she figures out how to contribute anything to the project: She becomes their unlicensed doctor. For both physical and mental problems. (It’s an adult dark comedy that does similar illegal stuff cause it’s Hell, let me have this)
Below became her new look (minus the wings. Those extend and retract at will like Lucifer and Vaggie’s do and are the biggest hint most have that she isn’t a normal member of the Ars Goetia) but I am seriously considering getting rid of that bracelet…
And her unexpected love interest becomes the love interest in my version of season 2…but I won’t be talking about that storyline here.
As a bonus, this is her true humanoid form in this project:
The Princess of Purgatory, and student of the King of Purgatory (Nox).
Alternate Timeline Goetia Meg
For a while I quietly worked on that project and a few others focusing on the selfship. Those that followed the canon and those that were completely separated from it. Then I made this new version of Goetia Meg:
This time she really is a Goetia demon, but one that was raised in a home struck by poverty…because she was adopted by a Sinner couple who couldn’t have children while alive and now couldn’t have children after death (Sinners can’t reproduce, apparently)
Meg was raised by them along with her other two adopted Hellborn siblings (a Hellhound and an Incubus) who moved to different Rings when they got older. Sick of the Exterminations and sick of the Pride Ring in general. Meg stayed because of her connection to her adoptive mother and later Stolas when they meet and he learns about her upbringing.
She ended up running into Charlie like the other timeline, but this time her reason for joining the Hotel staff is to one day move her parents into the Hotel. She wants them to be redeemed so they can go to Heaven where they belong and will be safe from the Exterminations.
As a final note: This Meg will do anything to protect her adoptive parents from the Exterminations. Anything.
And there you have it. The first forms of my self-insert in Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss. If anyone’s curious who the new f/o is…there’s a couple of hints in the pictures and the information.
