History is written by the victors they say, but Mark couldn’t see how that could possibly be true with such a large and majestic creature in front of him. A dragon, too tall to stand inside the cave, but lay down with his paws crossed and head against the ceiling. He was all tooth, all claw, a terrifying combinations of blues and reds that grew more iridescent the more Mark looked at him, shimmering under the glowing torches lining the walls.
How could a dragon be anything other than a victor? Someone who took what they wanted, whenever they wanted, and no one could stand in their way, and yet here was Dark, alone in a sunken cave, trapped and alone and painted as...as...
Evil.
“You should be on the throne.” Mark whispered.
Dark shook his head, “A King who rules for eternity does not rule well, just as a King who rules a short time may not rule well.”
“But-.”
“I cannot...no, I do not want to take back any crowns, or...go back to society. I just want to set the past right.”
Mark nodded, reaching out to gently lay his hand against Dark’s snout, and with a shot of hot air, Dark’s dragon form disappeared and his human form was back.
“I’ll help you.”
