Anon: Hey! I just found your blog and I really like it! Just wondering could you write a ficlet where lance saves his S/O from team rocket? Maybe they get hurt or injured or something?

Mahogany town, he’d told you. Mahogany town on G-Men business, but he’d be sure to be back in two to three days.

  Four days had passed, and not a peep from Lance. You’d been checking your phone every ten minutes, dropping him hopeful messages that were left unseen. You’d called Clair, feeling that bit of usual nervousness you always did when he went out as part of his work for the G-Men. She’d reassured you, saying Lance was extraordinarily resilient and strong, recounting one of the many times she’d tried and failed to discreetly “dispose” of him when they were kids. 

On the fifth day, you grabbed a backpack and your Pokemon and headed out.

 Bad, bad idea.

 They corner you right by the entrance to the Lake of Rage, leering as they ask you for an “entrance fee”. You snap at them, full knowing that there is no entrance fee and that they’re acting sketchy, and when push comes to shove, they challenge you to a battle and you beat them, staring triumphantly up at them in victory.

 Until they call in reinforcements.

 Damn. Damn. Damn damn damn-

  You remember Lance once telling you that Team Rocket’s strength lay in their sheer numbers. As individuals, they were weak, usually only in possession of a few unfortunate and ill-kept Pokemon- but they were in multitudes, grunt after grunt lining up to attack. Battling Team Rocket wasn’t a text of strength- it was a test of stamina. 

You’re in a bit of a situation- a toxic spikes attack hit you in the leg, and you’re on your second to last Pokemon when you hear a familiar voice.

“Dragonite, Hyper Beam!”

It hits the grunt square in the face as you squeak in surprise, turning to see your- rather livid looking- boyfriend and his Dragonite. Dragonite attacks the grunts with a ferocious cry as they begin to run, and Lance marches towards you as you slump against a tree, cape flaring and eyes bright.

 He kneels by you, dark red eyebrows furrowed in worry. 

 “Hey,” he says softly. “Look at me.”

You meet Lance’s gaze with exhaustion in your eyes. 

“I’m really sorry,” you croak, “I shouldn’t have charged out like this, I just-”

“Hey, it’s alright,” Lance says, cupping your cheek. “You’re never doing this again, okay?”

You nod as he moves closer to you- you feel his breath on your lips and you think he’s going to kiss you but he slips an arm around your shoulders and one under your legs, and lifts you up. 

 You nuzzle tiredly into his neck as he carries you back to town, Dragonite following suit after chasing the grunts off.

Dragon Master Lance of the Elite Four. It's quite a title. Does he live up to it?

At first, you're not too impressed with his arrogance, despite his resume. But, as with many things, there is always an opportunity to learn and grow.

And, who knows? Maybe one day, you'll fall in love.

How about some Flint, Volkner, Clay, and Lance with an s/o who keeps using ridiculous off the wall strategies that first make them go like ‘uh? you ok there? you know my Pokémon is immune to that move?’ but it all turns out to be epic diversions from CO’s real strategies that keep winning s/o the battle (and s/o totally affectionately teases them about it later like ‘immune, huh? ;) no effect, huh? ;) not gonna win, huh? ;)’) Thanks! <3

Flint:• While fighting Flint, you sent out an ice type and had them subtly freeze the battle ground• Flint catches onto what you’re doing pretty quickly • Despite what I said about Flint’s (lack of) common sense, he’s still a member of the elite four and an excellent battle strategist• As hard as he tries though, it’s hard to get his fire types to move properly on an icy floor• Even melting the ice can mean bad news as the water still makes the floor slippery • The more senseless and chaotic your attacks become, the more and more excited Flint gets• “That’s so cool y/n!! After this is done you have to tell me how you thought of that!”• Just be warned though, he may take a lesson or two out of your book and pull some crazy stunts the next time you two battle

Volkner:• Your first move in the battle is to bring out a steel type pokemon and have them continuously use metal sound• Volkner has absolutely no idea what you’re doing• He actually gets a bit annoyed cause he thinks you’re underestimating him or something• “Be serious now y/n. I want an actual, challenging fight.”• What he’s failing to realize though is that the repeated metal sound is seriously disorienting his pokemon, so much that they’re missing your pokemon and accidentally hurting themselves • After Volkner loses, he gets SO MAD (especially if you’re teasing him throughout the battle)• You guys remember that kid who went on a rant about the sonic fandom for like a solid 20 minutes? Yeah that’s Volkner• Like, he’s not even mad at you or his own pokemon, he’s more just mad at the fact that what you did ACTUALLY worked • He eventually does calm down and congratulate you on your win (even if he sounds super salty)• “Alright y/n, you got me on this one. But next time I’ll be ready for whatever you come at me with.”

Clay:• Sending out a fire type seemed like a rookie move to Clay, but as soon as you had your pokemon use flamethrower on the field he had a gut feeling that he was kind of screwed • What he found out is that the heated ground made it much more difficult for his pokemon to move around on• The softer ground will likely not only slow their movements, but also make them worn out easier • And your pokemon are practically running circles around them (cause you’ve likely trained them to get used to that)• Clay’s mind throughout the entire battle: “Wot in tarnation”• And there you are, laughing at his pure, unbridled confusion from across the room• After you win, he’s kind of just flabbergasted• He just… pats you on the shoulder and tells you that you did a good job in a low voice • And then he just walks away for a while to go contemplate life• In all honesty though he’s very impressed with your strategy (and won’t admit it but would appreciate it if you could teach him a thing or two)

Lance:• So let’s just say you started off by using a ground type move like earthquake on his Gyarados • At first, all Lance does is cock an eyebrow and snicker at you• “Isn’t that something a newbie would be doing, y/n?”• He’s genuinely concerned for a moment since this isn’t something you would normally do• However, eventually he realizes that making such a move prevents his pokemon from being able to properly land on the ground, thus tiring them out a bit faster• It allows your pokemon to easily dig into the ground and hide from his dragon types, so that at the last minute they can stockpile energy and make a much more impactful attack• And once he figures this out Lance is shook™• He’s like that one meme of the confused lady will all the math equations floating around• By the times he’s figured it out, you’ve already pulled quite a few more strange moves and set yourself up for a win• And you’re just standing there, smirking at him the whole time• After he loses, he sits there for a moment before letting out an loud chuckle and shaking his head• “You really know how to keep things interesting, don’t you y/n?”

we figured out a better way to do sprites (instead of freeballing it i edit and frankenstein other sprites together and THEN draw over and recolor it. its proven effective thus far) so heres some kantonians!!
