🗡️💜🪶 𝒜 𝒸𝒽𝒶𝓇𝓂𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓇𝑜𝑔𝓊𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒶 𝒽𝒶𝓅𝓁𝑒𝓈𝓈 𝒽𝑒𝓇𝑜 🪶💜🗡️    There was a night I couldn’t sleep so I made a sim of my Rook from Dragon Age Veilguard and I was reminded of how much I love her design.     This is Vanita de Riva and surprise surprise I romanced Lucanis.     It also doesn’t help that I’d been watching lots of cameos by @zach.mendez playing out domestic life with Rook.     I need to do more self indulgent art honestly, sometimes I forget or don’t have motivation to do projects that are just for me.

Thinking of that conversation Neve Gallus has with Taash. Her explanation of nicknames, saying freely, that among other things, they are a form of love.

Thinking of how boistorous Varric is with his nicknames. Thinking of how excited Varric is about the nickname Rook when introducing you to Neve. Thinking of how both Harding and Neve refer to your character, no matter their name or background as Rook immediately. Thinking of how your faction leader will address you by your last name in the letter, but call you Rook when you see them again.

Thinking of how Rook starts introducing themselves as Rook to their new allies. To everyone they meet.

Because Rook is a nickname of love.

Thinking of Neve, would rather tear open the Veil with the rest of your companions then let Rook slip through her grasp regardless of your relationship with her. Thinking of Neve returning home to the Lighthouse and not following the Wolf into her city to try and save it. Thinking of how she stays and searches for Rook, despite admitting that she knew it was a lost cause.

Because Rook is a nickname of love.

Thinking of Neve's nickname of Trouble when you enter a relationship. How willingly she uses it, in combat, in dialogue, in tender moments. Thinking of Neve, when she says she loves you she genuinely sounds terrified and sick. That it takes her so long to admit it that she had to lose Rook entirely first.

Thinking of how Trouble is a nickname of LOVE.

Dragon Age: Lore reminder

With Veilguard coming out this year, it is time to remind people once more how Dragon Age lore works. Dragon Age lore is written like a historical document, this means that reading ANY piece of lore requires you to do some source criticism. Every piece of lore in DA has an author and that author has a bias. Whether it's the Chantry's take on the Fade, Dalish keeping their mages a secret, Tevinter nobles denying blood magic, etc. When reading DA lore, you must also look at the source of that lore. Who said it? Who or what is it about? What is the relationship between the author and the subject? Is there information you -know- the author got wrong? This applies to the characters as well, they can be wrong, prejudiced, predicting doom, etc. So before you blame Bioware for getting their lore wrong, please make sure the actual lore is wrong and not the source.
